- The activation comes only a week after the national EAS test. 2 children were abducted from their home in Dallas at 7:00 this evening. You can tell my dislike for the Amber Tone because of the way I speak at the beginning of the video. This does include the EAS Header, the Amber Tone, and the EOM. The following station heard was KSCS 96.3 FM in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. They're a LP-2 station. They got their message from WBAP 820 AM/96.7 FM. They're the designated LP-1 station due to their 50,000 watt AM signal.

The sound is scarier than the kidnapping.
Not really though, considering that in this particular EAS amber alert, the kidnapper beat his 3-year old son to death.
After finding out that the weird sound existed (my husband is a synth composer and we do weird RUclips searches for sounds,) I had to find out about how it came to be. A very interesting history, and it's actually low-budget.

I can still remember not being able to sleep at night because I can hear it in my nightmares. Thanks for the everlasting nightmares EAS.

Not trying to sound rude but the long beep sound is a sound made to get peaple to pay attention witch can mean to wake them up. The first two beeps are a code that satellites receipt to broadcast the chosen alert. Again I'm not trying to sound rude I'm just into ea s alert scenarios and know a lot about ea s alerts. How times have changed. Back then we had that scary AMBER Alert siren, nowadays we have a weird robot voice announcing it (and maybe the siren exists in various other portions of America)

The noise is a data burst, sent 3 times, and the 4th is an alert tone. Those honking noises are important for telling other EAS receivers, as well as weather radios, what to do. They're annoying as fuck, but they are absolutely important for getting the info out.

They are hauntingly creepy. As a lifelong resident of the Midwest... Those tones bring nothing but fear to me. Tornadoes.... fascinating and scary but the tones and the air raid sirens literally terrify me.
The tones you’re referring to are called SAME (Special Area Message Encoding) and are used to notify broadcasting equipment for all EAS activations. The sound that follows the alert tone is what everyone is reacting to. That noise is uniquely & specifically used for AMBER alerts in Texas. This is because Texas (mainly DFW metro) law enforcement was the first to use AMBER alerts after the kidnapping of Amber Hagerman. While the tone is no longer required to activate such alerts, Texas continues to use their original sound to notify the public.
@@alohafromthe3033yep that sounds is what people are creeped out by. It’s designed to be unsettling. This is what’s called a “tritone” in music theory which is between a perfect 4th and a perfect 5th. It is naturally really dissonant to the human ear and when you play it in sliding up like this it’s really jarring because it’s MULTIPLE tritones ascending upward. They picked the most horrible noise possible and I think it’s an interesting study in the psychology of music that people find this sound so scary. Our brains just do NOT like tritones.

This sound gives me flashbacks to when I it woke me up in the middle of the night. I was seven years old and alone in my room. I would get nightmares for years to come.

i actually remember hearing this when i was a kid around the time. i had a radio i slept with while it was on. i wasnt scared of the regular SAME header tones, but the siren afterwards it was jolted me the fuck up. i just stayed down wide eyed for a solid 5 minutes.
I prefer the Alert Ready system because the tone is way less scary

I used to be absolutely terrified of those beeps as a kid. I'd listen to the radio while I slept too which made it worse for me, especially when they did monthly tests at around 4 AM.
Henrystrikesback Ironic cause im actually a fan of the EAS nowadays and ill soon be getting my own equipment. Who knew? But yeah weather alerts used to be the worst. Unpopular opinion but i think when they used a real voice (like on WBAP generated alerts) it'd be scarier because you'd get that deep scary voice telling you about a tornado coming straight for you lol. My radio station of choice at night was KLTY and i kid you not they used to air EAS alerts for EVERYTHING. Even for high wind warnings. Yeah, it was that bad.

The 2 children were found alive and Garcia was arrested after escaping and running at cops with an object where he was shot and injured, however they discovered a 3rd child that was the daughter of his girlfriend. Sadly the 3rd was beaten to death by that monster. She was 3 years old

Actually, you're not in the wrong here. My home state (Michigan) sometimes gets these alerts. Yes, us michiganders do get other alerts, but the most rarest we receive are TSW's (Tsunami Warnings), etc, etc.

In Kansas they use the beginning beeps for Tornado warnings every time and it used to scare the crap out of me when I was little but I got over it. Last night there was an amber alert and at first I thought oh look a tornado warning well I guess ill watch the sky and maybe go to the shelter if it gets bad but then I realize that tornadoes aren't really common until next month and just a split second after I come to that realization and think "What the crap is this?" BAM! DOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH comes blaring through my tv and phone in unison and I ducked as if a frickin nuclear war was about to start.

***** A local, regional, or national authority, like the police in this case, will send out an activation which includes those annoying beeps (those are needed to tell the receiver equipment where and what the message is intended for, who sent it out, when, etc.) Radio and television stations will relay the message to other stations.

Ever since I knew about the EAS it’s given me PTSD and no matter. I’ll always get reoccurring bad dreams of it and the noises will never leave my head. I used to scream a lot when I was younger but now I just cry. It also made me terrified of the dark too

@@syd5099I remember On exactly January 6 2021 I woke up at 2:30am to that alarm going off right next to my ear full volume and I was scared shitless and I thought the world was ending or something. I checked and it was about a shooter in a place an hour away from me and he shot up a school just a few days prior. He got arrested a few days later and im so happy. That was the scariest alert I’ve gotten so far the rest were just Amber alerts. Welcome to New Brunswick ;)
@@livspc oh wow! That's insane. If that was me right now. I would've locked all doors and windows and keep thr blinds down. Make sure there's no lights on and stay away from anything for the rest of the night/day. I'm happy to hear that you're okay! But also, those alerts scare us so much. I would be crying if I heard the alert go off on my phone. I remembered it did one night when there was a flash flood warning. And my old phone would send the message out twice. So I got another message at 1:30am and I didn't even hear. Thank God, I would've cried if I did. I surprisingly slept through that even though I am able to wake up to alarms and my door opening XD.

If you had a cable box, the 7:40 would change to E AS . Also usually in a EAS there is no jumpscare siren after the tones.

This might be the more unpopular opinion but that lady antebellum song is actually creepier than the siren. I actually like the way that siren sounds. I think I’ve only seen like three amber alerts in my lifetime but where I live we don’t have that siren sound. All it is is the typical EAS beeps and then this robotic text to speech voice reads the alert

They don't use that sound here in Illinois, thank god! They don't even use the attention tone. Just SAME headers, message, and EOM. Simple.
If you're talking about monthly tests, not having the attention signal is most likely illegal on the part of the station(s).
