- This is the older model Hitachi NR65GB, a second fix Hitachi gas gun. Works the same way as a paslode gun, only not as well.
Always found this, and the first fix gas guns were very temperamental.
Some work fine, others are simply riddled with problems and simply don't work consistently.
Lucky the new Hikoki nail guns have upped their game.
For repair and service of these guns, they are a little more difficult than the paslode, but still achievable for anyone at home.
One of the biggest problems I find is the motor fan. On both the first and second fix guns.
The motor and fan are linked with a brass spindle insert. This brass part cam shear or if over tightened. Which is only available with the motor unit.
If the motor fails on its own, you can replace the dc motor without buying the whole unit from Hitachi.

I’m amazed at how you strip them down to a bucket of parts and without hesitation you just reassemble them… i can only assume you do all this by memory given the fluidity by which you work… would expect it to be much slower and deliberate if you were following a schematic.. at any rate you have yourself a new sub
I took my im350 to a guy in Kirkintilloch outside Glasgow for a service. Turns out he was the guy who designed the nail guns for paslode and he was offered a better job with hitachi to do the same for them.
Wow!
I so want to believe this story. Enjoy yer night mate!
Its absolutely true mate

I didn't mean any offence. I was having a bit of a joke. That's actually really interesting if true though.
Did you get the Kevin Bridges reference? 😂👍
@@GBOB68 none taken mate I got right away lol
I had one of these. I used to have the paslode version before. I rate the hitachi one more. so much lighter and nicer to use than the paslode. always used paslode pins and gas with it as well. brilliant tool. moved in to battery guns now. do not miss the grief of gas guns.
Had 2 of those guns, 1 the cylinder exploded and the both had issues with the fan shafts splitting and falling off the motor.
Great job as always. Interesting on how it's *just* that different from a paslode

Could you please do a battery nail gun or Brad nailer that be nice to see since u showed us all about the gas gun, enjoyed it thank you, will keep watchin em long as u keep posing them
Nice work 👏👏 I've got a max 690ch that I need to service 🙉
what do you use to wash up your tools. i really could do with something simalar as im always stripping down machines at work.
@deandohertygreaser
I have two of these guns.
Just stripped down and cleaned and one now fires intermittently and other the motor is shot. You say in the video that you can get a motor just by its self? Do you have a link?
That is quite an old gun. I have the framer version. Still working. Must be 15 years old. Nicad batteries. Takes standard Paslode framer gas. One problem. All the gas now comes with yellow regulator. The framer likes the old red. I have a few. But have to remember not to throw away with empties. It won't even fire with a yellow.
Do you have the part number for dc motor?
i just picked up a nt65ga cheap, but it looks like some parts are missing like the gas chamber door + some innards. is there parts store that sells manuals and/or parts? i have owned a gas powered gun before would very much be obliged for any info. thanks so much....
Load of places sell the parts. Simply Google "nt65ga parts " and you will the parts diagram also. I don't have any specific online shops I'm affraid
@@deandohertygreaser bit random but what brand are your hoodies/jumpers. I'm looking for some work wear with big cuffs like yours. Awesome videos btw, super helpful 👍
The one thing they should have made out of metal . lol
What does 'hikoki' mean?
Hitachi are part of Koki Holdings. Which is now owned by someone else. When the change happened a few years back. Hitachi tools became Hikoki. Except in US. An amalgamation of Hitachi and Koki. To confuse the issue in America. Same thing Metabo HPT. Not to be confused with just Metabo. Same parent company. Different tools. There aren't that many individual tool companies now. A lot have merged.
