I read that he told his defense, who took immense pride in preventing the run, that the game plan was to let Thurman Thomas run for 100 yards, but they were not going to let the passing game beat them. It took some convincing, but they bought in. His defense jammed and hit the receivers so hard on every route that by the end of the game, they wouldn't extend their arms so that they could protect their ribs. The rules were different back then, I'm sure they would have racked up 300+ yards of penalties by today's rules the way they punished those receivers.
Other positives around Nix … Stidham has said the current broncos qb room is the best qb room he has ever been in (sure they always say stuff like that). QB coach Davis Webb is looking like a very good young coach. Payton Manning has been available for Nix to bounce ideas off. So many young qb;s are a product of their situation and the situation in Denver seems very supportive.
BILL Should be Coaching in 24 or 25, I saw him on the Pat Mac show, and he is so sharp, blew me away, if he chooses to take on a bad team in 24, or begin again in 25, He should be coaching.
Thinking about the difference between Brady’s start and Mahomes, sounds like a pretty big difference. Thinking of how Brady wasn’t a great qb, he was just good, and then Mahomes was crazy good.
