One thing to consider is yes you could cut out the middle man, but do you the artist want to be spending time making stickers or other things, when you could be using time to make more art? It’s a personal choice....

Same! I also don’t have the space for packaging and a bunch of merch. I know society 6 and redbubble take a lot of profits too. It’s so hard. I was looking at art of where as I liked their selection of stuff and they seemed to be focused on high quality art products.
In terms of stickers though, you could probably just buy those wholesale on like sticker app or something and sell them yourself. Stickers don’t take up a lot of space.

I have a Red Bubble shop and the quality is very good. I love my own collage paintings on cushions they are a great talking point. I also bought loads of presents for the family at Christmas. Not earned anything yet but nearly ready to spread the word through social media. I also have a Folksy shop which is a British version of Etsy and really good but all of these you have to do the publicity yourself.

Thank you a bunch for this video. You made a point when you said you have to put yourself out there and bring in the customers to your store. This "art business" is quite tricky and there is a lot to learn if I want to cut out the "middle man." I remember when I was in high school and a lot of my friends would say, "why should we learn this complicated math, or why read this enormous book? It's not going to help us out in life later..." Ummmmm friends, it is important especially if you want to be your own boss someday. 🤔
they hardly teach you marketing at school, most of the things you need to be an entrepreneur won't be learned in school.

I have been going back and forth on if I wanted to open a RedBubble. I currently purchase and make my own stock and it is kind of hit and miss. I also like making my sales personal but it would be nice to just test some items on RedBubble. Maybe I will try both! haha Thanks for the insight!

Thank you Minnie for this video. It was interesting to hear your review of RedBubble. I do use them for certain items. I would recommend anyone to order a sample of their own art on fabrics before presenting them to their customers. Personally I was not impressed at all with the quality of the fabrics they were using for the cushions, tote bags and zip bags and I found the value for money not really worth for my customers as the size of the tote bags for example and cushions were smaller than a standard size on the market. The quality of my BrightNightLight design colour therapy art were also disappointing...maybe because my arts have a lot of fine details which didn't seem to come through really well under the fabric they used. I am still using RedBubble but only for other items such as blocks, journals, phone cases, etc...
/ lol. For easy ways to make money online you guys can go to *LIVE NET JOBS. C OM* this is the same thing I've been doing. Hope this helps. I’m more terrified of failure than rejection-so I’ll know my way to YES!

Hi Minnie! First of all thank you for making this video. :)
I'd like your personal opinion on something. I live in a country that really doesn't support artists very much (brazil). Selling prints and stuff around here is not easy and profitable unless you already have a big audience (and even well known artists struggle a lot with it). I made the decision to start a new art profile on instagram, and maybe a RUclips channel in the future. I don't know if I should start building my audience nationally or internationally. I don't live in the US or UK, so it's hard for me to open a shop because exportation is so expensive and bureaucratic that a simple 5x7 print that sells for $20 would turn into $70 including postage. It's ridiculous. That leaves me with print on demand services, which are a bit limiting in my opinion: I'd like to pack everything carefully, send gifts, include a nice card etc like everybody does on Etsy. I also consider a shop on CreativeMarket for passive income.
As for the local audience, it would be easier to interact with them and build an audience but it's harder to sell products and get commissioned work. At the same time, if I work really hard and build a local audience, maybe in two years or so I can start selling stuff locally. *Maybe*.
I see the same amount of pros and cons for each decision and I don't know which direction I should take. Should I do both? If so, how? I'm so frustrated!
Bianca Mattos Hi, I don't know if you know about digital downloads on Etsy, where people can buy a digital copy of your work and print it themselves. It might not be exactly what you want, you still don't get to pack the prints and include a card, but it is a good way of selling your art, when you are not able to mail out the prints yourself.
Hi, Minnie! Recently I've bought one of your haunted houses (the one which is still on the Earth). I want to buy the another one, but I've faced a proplem. The thing is that I bought the first one through Society 6 platform, and the second one (which is the house haunted by the space) is now available for buying only through Red Bubble platform. The size of the poster I have is 13"x19". And Red Bubble supplies only 16.4"x23.2" size. But I want to have them like paired ones, and they won't look perfect together in different sizes (of course separetly they look absolutelly perfect ;)). So, I just want to ask whether this problem is solvable? Are you still on Society 6 (cause your page there is still available), and is it possible to put your second painting there? Or is it possible to order the size which I need through Red Bubble?

If I may chime in. Make the Patreon. Start using marketing yourself with social media, especially Facebook and RUclips.
I think I’d read the legalese of these POD services concerning IP rights to the work. Who owns it and who owns it, if they go out of business and reinvent themselves or are acquired by another business that says all bets are off?
I worry about this as, my family has been involved in an IP case. Businesses rather enjoy skipping off with artist’s and writer’s works.

Hi! I'm thinking of overhauling my art from Society6 to somewhere else like InPrint or Redbubble. What was it like when you moved? Especially pricing changes, do you keep both shops if you already had a base?
Is there a print to order online company that delivers the high quality printed product to our customers that they promise? So far I cant find reviews for any of these companies to support that, along with service too of course. It's frustrating.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Really helpful. My sister and I are interested in making a redbubble account but like you we are trying to find a better form of payment instead of using Paypal. But what we noticed is that in rebbubble you can get direct deposit thru either paypal or bank account. Do you recieve payments via direct deposit thru you bank account? Or is their another way? We would really appreciate your help, if you can :) :)
On my red bubble I changed my pay pal to my bank account... Like you said...
I checked out Redbubble and it looked great until you get to payment information. Unfortunately here in Canada you can only accept payment through paypal with Redbubble. Do you have any suggestions for other online shops?
Great video I've been looking for a video like this but the main thing I wanted to know is how much profit you get from these sort of websites and is it a substantial amount enough to keep using these websites as a source of income .this might be a bit personal to ask but how much roughly a person of your following earns from prints etc it's ok if don't want to answer. Amir Rasooli you will make a very small amount of the profit. If you go onto these websites and look up info for sellers you can find a spreadsheet that shows profit margins for each individual item that you can sell
