    Society 6 is really just a middle man. They don't print all that stuff, which is partly why the shipping takes so long. Have you seen Printify? printify.com/app/products? Society 6 uses them or goes directly to the "print providers" on that site. I know this because I ordered a tote bag from Printify and it arrived with a Society 6 tag sewn on it. This is also why Society 6 doesn't offer wholesale pricing to artists. They'll give up to 15% off for bulk orders, but that's it, so if you're an artist using Society 6 in hopes of ordering and reselling the products you're better off going straight to the source, Printify. Also, the 50% split is the same commission a gallery would take for selling your work, so that's normal. For the other items, like tote bags, pillows, etc, they give you 10% of the sale, which sounds awful, but it's a pretty standard licensing fee and since you don't have to do any of the work (credit card processing, printing, sewing, packing, shipping, etc.) it's not too bad. If you want to make any real money from those products you need to take the risk of ordering them in bulk and processing the orders, packing, shipping...all of that on your own. In my opinion, I would like if Society 6 had an option for artists on what products they'd like to sell. I only want to offer cell phone covers on there, but I'm stuck having all the other stuff too. My problem with the prints on S6 is that none of them are signed and they're not limited edition, but they're priced as if they are.

    Thank you for this detailed review! I recently started a Society6 shop but was hesitant to buy some of my own work to check the quality of, knowing there would be huge import charges coming to the UK. I'll now start looking for a UK alternative! What's the printer you use for your home printing?

    • @CamileDoubtfire
      @CamileDoubtfire  4 года назад

      Yes you do get quite high charges from royal mail when it gets delivered but if I remember correctly society 6 will give you that back 1 or 2 times as long as there is nothing wrong with your order that you are claiming money back from. I have just filmed a video today detailing my whole at home printing setup which will be up on Sunday! I hope you find that helpful ☺

    I appreciate your input on this. I was considering society6.
    Recently I purchased one of my designs to check quality ( I’m on RB ) it took 12 days to arrive, which I find good, and the quality and colors were just as my design, it was an art board, no tax or customs, RB has printers all over now, so customer will receive from nearest printer, mine came from UK but I think they have one in Malmo, Sweden too. It seems to me RB is working hard to become better and more visible.

      I'm so glad you found it helpful :) Where are you from? I am from the UK so maybe shipping from Red Bubble would be fast to here. Do you sell through them or just buy in bulk from them and then sell yourself?

    • @curious-kat
      @curious-kat 6 лет назад

      I’m from Denmark 🇩🇰 🙂 I sell designs on RB. I’m sure that you could have your order fast when it’s both printed and shipped from UK. I was impressed with 12 days as it’s not only the shipping that takes time, but also the printing part. I’ll have to look into buying options after March 2019, as UK won’t be EU anymore. 😢 perhaps they start shipping from Sweden by that time 🙏🏻🙂. I recommend using their chat option before you purchase, I did. Have a lovely Monday 🌸

    • @curious-kat

      I don’t buy in bulk, i wanted only to see if the print was as my design looked online, see the small details and quality, I gave it as a gift to my mum. 🙂

      Hi .. I wonder why Redbubble without any warnings just shut my account on the same day I uploaded it and still they are not having any reply to my query. I just made an account and added up my one design to sell. But alas, as soon as I made that done it shut my account saying `NO LONGER ACTIVE '
      can you please help me out

    I have been uploading some Artwork, creating some really cool items through the site. I have been marketing and sharing the shop on Social media as suggested, NOT 1 SALE in over a year!!!
    People have started liking some of the works but I honestly feel invisible on S6. I'll keep trying but will not hold my Breath, EVER!

    TBF, I made some money on S6, but nowadays, the upload is truly dreadful, so it's become a waste of time. Use their own templates and it consistently says, 'cannot upload this image'.

    I use Society6 but not for Art. I use my own website for Art prints. Because I don't like what they have on display as Art Prints for Sale. I'm pretty specific about my Art Prints and how I like them.

    Thank you for sharing, I was just checking them out and was wondering about their quality and customer service, since I am unable to do my own prints at home or able to keep them in my home ( I have no extra space or an art room to store them). I appreciate your advice.

    • @CamileDoubtfire
      @CamileDoubtfire  5 лет назад

      I'm glad it helped you! It's a weird one because the quality was really good, the ink and paper etc but the quality control for damaged items was terrible and I just couldn't risk it. Yes home printing takes up quite a bit of room, the printers themselves are quite large and heavy, I keep mine under my desk to save space ❤️

    I wonder if Society6 is based in a different country and had to mail you the prints overseas; that would explain the large shipping cost and delivery time... can’t make any excuses for the quality, though. That’s just not right :(

    Thank you Camile, you may well have saved me a lot of hassle! I appreciate the honesty and your thoughts have confirmed my general concerns about POD/ drop shipping. So you print at home now? If so, what would you recommend as a good quality printer? I'll be looking you up and showing some support for a fellow UK artist. Cheers!

      Hi rob, so glad the video helped you ! Yes I print at home, I have my printer but I haven't found the perfect paper yet, my paper is nice but not good enough to recommend if you know what I mean, when I do I will certainly make a video about it ! Hoping to nail it over the next month or so !

      Camile Doubtfire Yes, I use them all the time, primarily for fabric. If you still need to be convinced upload one of your prints and order their sample packs - they stock both fabric and paper I think there's 3 - 4 sample packs.
      They are amazing and very good quality! Some girls on my degree got posters and wallpaper printed and it was all stunning.
