Hi Guys! Just Catching up with all the new videos! Great Crossing. Your Music is Getting better and better. congrats!
You have found the perfect boat - a pleasure to watch - Happy Holidays to all crew and be safe and healthy. And, thank you for the great entertainement.
Love the under sail picture using the drone as well. make me feel I do it again (1981) in luxury, well done
I love the welcome fruit!! ❤
Another wonderful video to enjoy, thank you!
How sailing has changed over the decades, amazing speeds and comfort. Enjoy every minute, old age catches up quicker than an Outremer.😄
😎🤣
Hello
Thanks a lot to all or you 3 for giving us so much pleasure watching your gréât vidéos.. this one was even Nice for me when i saw that you popped our sparkling Apple Juice to célébrate the mid Atlantic crossing as we had discussed it in la grande motte..bélière me that would have loved to sail next to you with our optimist ! I hope to catch up next year to be able to reload your cellar with this year s Apple Juice which is even better than Last one..cross fingers..congrats for this fantastic performance of à super rapid crossing..
Just what I needed. A moment of relaxation in the Christmas preparation stress. Thanks
No stress here 😎
Hey guys its Portland Dan. There are so many things to compliment about this video. Your early vids not as much narration, love your descriptive narration about the trips. Love the bow shot looking aft, the front of GC looks so light, like its flying, A very well balanced speed machine. Flying the spinnaker made sailing look like it's "so easy" to sail. I'll bet you made al lot of people send in earnest money.
GC is fast and you all sail it well. I remember the first GC video I saw of GC1. That speed run you all did in force 10 and just flat out smokin along. I watched that many times.
Keep up the good work great crossing. One thing, anything below the waterline on a boat makes a huge difference in performance. I can't stand windsurfing in weeds for that reason.
Fantastic Video - Great camera work - excellent editing and music. Great story line. Love this channel. Please keep posting your video's Thanks for taking us along on your sailing trip
Beautiful episode, it looks you guys had a smooth crossing
Nice video. If Barbados had high mountains, you'd see it much sooner, but it is so flat, unlike Saint Vincent and the Grenadines where I grew up. As a kid I crossed the Atlantic from UK to Trinidad in a large cruise ship, passing through Vigo in Spain and Tenerife, then 9 days of open Atlantic. I remember huge waves rocking the boat and being confined to the cabin for 2 days. Navigation equipment was not as sophisticated in the 70's. I watched with interest to see what it would be like on your journey.
What a great team, sailing, stories, cinematography, music, ship, journey, chill, enjoy. WOW. Thank you again Mark, Marijke and Tina. Merry Christmas, Paul
Great footage, I'm in.
i knew you could do it.....i saw 17 knots at 1 time and no hard motions, that was wow !! only guy i know mesmerizing 2 women at same time...ol Dutch you really got it, and a new ship😁thankyou for such a nice video, very informative also....peace
😎
Same at 23 knots, still pretty smooth….
Fascinating video. I learned a fast cruising cat is safer, TWS is lower because of boat speed under the heavy duty spinnaker. You did a very fast passage in safety, with only 3 crew. A superb cat, interesting but not surprising that it surfs longer than your old boat. Great photography capturing the beauty of nature on your passage. Thank you for showing your instruments for longer. I like the gentle music you choose too. Enjoy the Caribbean. Regards Murray and Jean
Amazingly fast and comfortable crossing. Really enjoyed the ep. Thanks!
Merry Xmas guys, and have a HNY... from Australia
Great video. Relaxed. Interesting. Thanks.
Wow, I did that ride on your boat. I enjoyed every blessed minute. Thank you.
Very nice pictures, real good trip, thank you for share with us
Thank you for this great video, you guys rock! Great boat, great crew, please all stay safe. And Merry Christmas and a great New Year from deep snowy and very cold Northern BC
The sailing is so smooth, you're even getting younger :D
Hi guys, it seems the heavy duty symmetrical spinnaker was the one sail to have huh. 9 days is not much. Well done.
Thx Marc & Marijke for this lovely report of a perfect passage!!
Great episode. We enjoy your videos so much! Merry Christmas !🎄👍🎉
Great sog all around - well done with the 9 days! Enjoy..
So nice to watch your updates👍
An incredible video, thank you all very much!! Happy Christmas!!!
Thank you for sharing this amazing sailing adventure. Exciting going so fast. The heavy duty spinnaker looks to be a great sail.
Merry Xmas
Good to see you safe and well across the atlantic, still remember seeing you from the beach training and trimming in the waters of LGM. Thanks for the videos.
super nice video, glad you arrived safely. what a super boat
Thank you for these video which its magnificent. I would like to wish you a good holiday season. May the next year be full of safe mileage with a healthy and beautiful video to share with us. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022.
Impressive +40 knots with spinnaker 😯
More scary but just for a short period of time
Wow carrying the kite in 40 kts - well done , Nice boat & Crew , Merry Xmas & A Happy new year .
Nice one... Merry Christmas Guys
Beautiful run. I learn so much from you.
As we are learning all the time
Joyeux Noël. Merci pour ces vidéos.
Superb! Thanks a lot.
Superb Video.
That was fantastic !
Looks like a good combination of speed and luxury . Big plus point , seems that with this boat no extreme forces needed. We living & sailing in a 50 ft privilege Série 5,since 2,5 years now , we have a good boat but can’t match your average speed. And sometimes speed is safety .
For us it is. We had a good look at the new Privilege 580 and a short demo sail. We like the lines and the “Sportop”.
At less than 50% of the weight of the 580 forces are still huge but of course much less.
Music background is fantastic!
Wonderfull to see this boat gliding forewards. I can almost feel its motions. Are you happy that you did it in only nine days? It seems you would have liked it a few days more. And eh, don’t forget to pack some extra underwear in case the washing machine decided to quit for a few days 😀
We’ll IF we can continue the world tour (bit of a problem in Aruba now) there would be plenty of oceans to cross. Nice to see land and people every now and then
I don't know why, but it seems to me that this video released today, I already saw it a few days ago? Am I going crazy?
Even twice, a lot of pleasure to see her again.
Sometimes I already put it in a playlist even if it’s not public yet so the real enthusiasts can already find it. Uploading next episode tonight 😎
Mmmm, I enjoyed that.
What do you mean not a race, of course it's a race. More than 1 boat on the same piece of water is ALWAYS a race, bragging rights included.
❤💙✨
Catching two 5X's must have felt pretty good. 😁
🤣 the differences between the Outremer models seem to be limited in terms of speed, we have it on a regular basis the other way around with O51 Spekeend
@@CatGreatcircle I always knew: it is a race - guess we all know, but: it´s not a race.
OH!
Great video and wonderful story telling of the crossing. Can you explain a bit more why you felt you needed the additional “back stay” by lashing the spare halyard to the back of the boom? Does having the spiniker up with the mainsail up for 10 straight days put so much pressure on the fixed backstay that you felt the need to reinforce? Is that common to do on the Outremer, or something common on large cruising cats? Also, were you surprised that you had no chafe on the spiniker halyard with it up for so long, or did you do little adjustments every couple of days to avoid chafe in one spot? Happy holidays and thanks again so much for allowing us to come along on your adventures.
Most catamaran (and mast) builders tell you in their manuals that you can only use the spi together with the (full) main. So does Lorima for our carbon mast.
Informally people tell us it’s not a problem but it’s impossible for us to know where the real limits are. Dynamic forces can be really high, especially after a fast surf when the sail will “stall” and then catches wind again with a bang.
We still think the sail will blow up before there’s a problem with the mast but if we’re wrong that’s a bit of a problem.
With this smaller spi and using the lower double halyard we’re quite comfortable in the meantime as the side stays / shrouds are connected to the mast at more or less the same position.
When using the big spi and the higher halyard it might still be useful to create a temporary back stay to counter the forces on the top of the mast when not using the main.
We adjusted the double halyard once after e got feedback from other boats that they had chafing (on the high halyard though). Not all of them had dyneema sleeves for extra protection. On the high halyard we have one spot where this sleeve is a bit dent, should be ok for a while but we’ll have a look during next GLYWO maintenance stop in the third week of January
Thanks for the great feedback!! Wishing all a Happy New Year and safe sailing. Will continue to follow your trip each week….its always a highlight to watch!
@@CatGreatcircle thank you for explaining, but I am still not sure that I fully understand. Having full main and a spi up should result in more load on the rig, isn't it? Or is it specifically the top of the mast (where spi halyard is attached) that is a concern? At the first glance it seems that if metal shrouds are not enough, then no additional halyards attached anywhere would help. But on a second look, it seems that shrouds on your boat are quite far forward, almost in line with the mast, so maybe strong pull forward at the top is indeed a concern.
👏👍🏻
what type boat is this? Very nice video, thank you guys!
Outremer 55
Sorry for late comment/question, but... Great video as usual and I enjoyed the spinnaker sailing. I am considering the same type of sail for my cat (Balance 482). What is the weight and size (sqm) of your spinnaker?
The smaller polyester one is 2oz 170m2, the A2 is stormlite 230m2
Thank you for the great videos!
Did your autopilots need maintenance after arrival?
No they both worked just fine
10 days 😳👏
What was your score with the Lagoon in ARC 2019?
You can’t compare different years with different start and finish locations and different weather. In 2019 we sailed direct Las Palmas - St Lucia in a bit over 16 days. This time we sailed via Cabo Verde.
O55 Akaroa just sailed Tenerife - Barbados direct in 11,5 days.
In general the Outremer 55 seems to be around 30% faster downwind than the Lagoon 52S.
Hey is a gennaker main and a bit hotter angle not faster easier vmg?
Is the mast ok having no main up and just the shoot?
Comparing to the other Outremers doing that in the same conditions it’s not as long as the great circle course is about dead downwind
Using the lower halyard which is about the same height as the stays it shouldn’t be an issue at all is what the experts say
Great Sail! Great Team!
Great Circle. g.b.y.
🇪🇬🔱📯🎗✨🌎🦈⛵🦐✝️
We have been puzzling a bit but can’t find out where gby stands for
@@CatGreatcircle God Bless You !
Great commentary! Sorry about your ouchy on your leg. What caused the vibration?
We don’t really know, might have been Sargasso weeds as from Barbados to Martinique we didn’t have it at all
