Kannadasan's memoir, "Vanavasam," is about his life as a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. His political experience is not as meaningful as the songs he has written for movies. He struggled at first to establish himself as a writer but eventually landed as a lyricist. His experience as a member of the DMK was bitter. He ended his political career after 10 years of conflict.
