    It's cool and cute... But will be stolen or vandalized instantly. Also in my city the sidewalks are crumbling and just gone in places, the decaying corpse of the rest belt needs a tank drone to navigate.

    The only way this is a viable idea is if there is a larger truck nearby that this can dock with and reload. Also it seriously needs to be able to deploy the package somehow, but then this would be a porch pirates dream come true.

      @JT Rothmoore It would take more time to deploy the scouts, wait to pick them up and verify deliveries then it would to let a human driver complete his route. Total waist of time and resources in my opinion from an actual "Real" driver.

      @JT Rothmoore These won't work in apartment complexes due to stairs. What if there are other issues like nobody is home, its raining, notes on the door with specific delivery instructions then hows that algorithm going to figure it out?

You think combining those three robot technologies will make it work.     Why wouldn't they opt for an aerial version? It would have certainly been faster. That thing moves at a snail's pace, it would take forever to get your parcel assuming they just let it run loose from the post office. Also, tbh it looks rather easy to steal from.

    Scout is a pretty good innovation and a smart response to the COVID restrictions of physical contact. Not the happiest to see Amazon discontinue it. Hoping Amazon Scout is transformed into something even more helpful in the future. Well done guys.

    How is a scout more efficient then transporting bulk packages? If Amazon is processing millions of parcels per day are we to believe there will be a million of these bots on the street? I understand the concept and applaud the advancement of AI, but this doesn’t seem feasible as a mass market delivery solution.

    Hopefully it can be improved with additional safety mechanisms to lock and even use of potentially digital QR codes or otherwise on a lid mounted screen to be unlocked with a smartphone? Great concept even so.
