The worst thing about the new album is that this guy was buried in the mix way too much. The mix in general was muddy. Please fix it. End of an Era (Rebirth) was mixed perfectly.
It's more ergonomic, because the fingers on your fretting hand don't go straight up and down whilst fretting, they have a bit of an angle to them, which the fanned frets match

They also allow for lower tunings with higher tension on the lower strings since they have multiple scale lengths. aka multiscale.
