I have to say that Plankton’s voice actor in this KILLED IT!! Not only do they sound just like Plankton, they added emphasis and flair! All the lines sound genuine and great!
I thought the SpongeBob voice actor was pretty good too considering how hard the voice must be to replicate. Pitch was off but the laughs and screams were pretty good
Lo mismo pensé yo cuando vi esa parte, maneja perfectamente los volúmenes de los objetos y personajes, es como si fueran modelos 3D cuando realmente estamos viendo 2D
Thank you! Now, I did do this with a 3D model, but I started off without one, basically using the cylinder method to keep a consistent shape. Unfortunately I was running out of time, so I used a 3D model for the keyframes, but did the inbetweens without the model, after breaking down the shape of the model to get the most consistency. Even then I had to redraw some of the keyframes because I realized the dynamics of the angle didn’t quite fit. The paper inside however was all me just using the cylinder method.
I wish Stephen Hillenburg was still alive to see this reanimated version of the first SpongeBob movie. He'd be proud of how much time and effort was put into this masterpiece.
Not only did people reanimated this but the voice acting is completely done from scratch. The voice actors capture the characters very well. This is the best reanimated project I’ve ever seen
This may be one of the, if not THE BEST, tributes to Stephen Hillenburg that will ever come to surface. His creation being remade by hundreds of his fans that hold it dear to their hearts, including myself, is a phenomenal farewell piece to arguably one of the greatest animated show creators of all time. There will never be another cartoon like Spongebob. Round of applause to every single animator and cast member who made this happen. This collaborative project will hopefully forever be cemented as a celebratory masterpiece that will be remembered by many. The countless amount of hours that went into it without a doubt paid off and the countless amount of preparation time was WELL WORTH the wait :)
This feels like it’s own thing, it doesn’t feel like a badly done remake. The different mediums and the fact you redid EVERYTHING! The best collaboration of artists I’ve seen. And, it’s absolutely hilarious.
At 1:13:43, the reason Spongebob is wearing a shirt that says "Ween" on it, is because the band Ween made an album called "The Mollusk". That album is what Spongebob was originally based off of, and why at the end of the movie, "Ocean Man" plays. Highly recommend the album, it's actually really good
To each and every artist that took their blood, sweat and tears into each of their respective scenes, I truly thank you for making this project possible. Seeing this movie as a kid was amazing and now seeing an entire recreation of it by people who also enjoyed the underwater sponge is even better. The main man Stephen truly gave us a good portion of our childhood that we will all hold onto till we all kick the bucket, and seeing the people involved that I’ve watched on this platform made it even more memorable knowing they shared the same happiness that the show and movie gave to everyone around the world. I thank you all who put their heart and soul into this project and thank you Stephan for bringing a beloved gift to this world. One love mate.
Bro. The fact that even the memeiest and lowest quality of contributions made it in show just how much these guys were so open to letting ANYBODY contribute because they loved this movie and wanted to contribute. Why can’t more projects be like this, like the Link CDI reanimated? Doesn’t matter how good you are. If you’re willing to take the time to put in the effort, you’re in.
Glad to have played the small part that I did in making this tribute to Stephen Hillenburg happen. Y'all did a lovely job on the animations, and I bet he would've loved to know that so many people (including me) have been enamored with and influenced by his work since 1996 (yes, that's when that early voice clip of SpongeBob reading an essay was from!). Also, "Best of Friends" is *definitely* going on my playlist. 😁
Sometimes, I honestly feel so blessed to live in a time where folks can turn their passion and respect for their childhoods into such beautiful masterpieces. This brings me back to my first time watching the original movie on TV all that time ago, and I honestly think this is such an amazing tribute to Stephen Hillenburg. Thank everyone who worked on this for all your amazing work bringing this project to life!!
Its so sad that 20 years has passed since spongebob first debut RIP S. Hellenburg there not a child on this Earth that you didn't touch and make happy with your amazing creation ☺️ we owe so much of our childhood to you 🥰
Actually had me tearing up through almost the whole thing, it's actually just breathtaking how many people grouped together to make such a masterpiece of a project, props to everyone involved . R.i.p Stephen and thanks for making an achievement possible ♥️.
1:12:29 When this part came up I almost cried. I SAW Stephen Hillenburgs soul in the art style, considering that this is his style. Thank you all for this amazing tribute to him!
Thank you so so much for this. It genuinely means the world to me that this scene struck a chord with a lot of people. I also had the honor of directing the tribute short at the very end, brought to life by a team of brilliant animators, background artists, voice actors, and our sound editor. Again, seeing what the scene meant to you makes me so happy. ♥
I agree that it was a great tribute to Stephen. I give my respects to the artists who worked on reanimating the movie and they done a great job. SpongeBob SquarePants is one of my favorite and childhood shows. Rest in peace and thank you as well, Stephen. My condolences and respects to your family and friends. I give my heart and support to you, your family, and your friends. May God Protect And Love You In Heaven.
The SpongeBob movie is by far my favourite movie of all time and part of the reason for that is because of the message of the film, that no matter how old you get, you never have to stop being a kid, sure it’s technically a “kids movie” but that didn’t stop this film from being completely recreated from the ground up by a bunch of grownups, I’ll never stop loving this film no matter how old I get, and this recreation is absolutely amazing, such an incredible love letter to not only an amazing movie but an amazing man who helped make this film possible, Stephen Hilleburg
I literally thought this film was just reanimated, which is already incredible on its own, but you guys actually did voiceovers! That’s amazing, you basically made the entire film from scratch, freaking awesome!!! Hope y’all are proud of this! Cause you should be!
I really want to show some love to the voice actors, they did SUCH a good job matching the original lines. Little things like Plankton's "hehehey" laugh at the start. It's incredible.
Wait wait wait! These arent the original voices? Damn! They made a good job! (I am not really used to the original voice cast because i watched always the german dub)
I love Epic Mickey. I love the style, the action, the combat, the choices, everything. The sequel gives you less freedom after you "complete" it, but it is a great game nonetheless! it's good to know there are those who still enjoy the game. The cutscenes also improved from the first to the second, as it was first just simple drawings and mumbles, and full blown musical numbers given to us by the Mad Doctor, honestly the best part in the sequel. I just loved it, to be honest. The hardest part was figuring out the perfect balance to get to the tree houses without help from Smee or the other guy. It was hard. All in all, 10/10 games both of 'em!
@@anarchimation1448 Seriously? You were the one behind that tidbit? Lmao. Didn't sit through the credits admittedly. But I'm glad you loved Epic Mickey as much as I did lol.
At 1:18:56 it starts to roll the credits. You can see all these amazing people who have come together just to make something special for Stephen, this is truly a masterpiece
I think the best part about this entire project is the sheer variety of styles. It does not matter how amazing or shitty you are at art. If you can draw, animate, or even just edit pictures to mesh together, your contribution WILL make it in because you’re putting your time and effort into aiding this two-year-long project. It’s like the only requirement was that you wanted to make homage to hillenberg and that you would take time out of your day to contribute to the project. Absolutely beautiful…
That was the best reanimated movie ever! A heartfelt tribute to Stephen Hillenburg. Rest in peace, Stephen Hillenburg. You and our childhood will always live forever in our hearts. ❤
I don't think enough people bring attention to the fact that the ending at 1:38:27 is so so so clever, phenomenal, and an even more heartfelt tribute than just this movie alone. If you don't know, this was a build up to the fact that Spongebob's earliest known recording took place in 1996 with Stephen Hillenburg playing the role as Squidward. And the fact that it transitions to Hillenburg's old artstyle for the show is nothing short of an amazing tribute to an already amazing loveletter to the man that made our childhood. Well done to everyone that made this video possible. And rest in piece to Stephen, the real Ocean Man. 🐬
Genuine love for the creation, respect for the creator, that ending mimicking the concept art genuinely moved me. Thank you guys, this genuinely meant a lot, in light of the disrespect on Stephen’s name from Nick, this a reminder of just how many childhood were touched and how many laughs and good memories were made from this series they can NEVER take away from us. Cheers. ❤
Being an avid spongebob fan, I did cry a little at the opening when everyone is singing the spongebob theme together. It's beautiful to see so many fans come together as a community to create something so amazing. I'm sure that you all would've made Stephen proud :,)
Same, man. My obsession with SpongeBob is the biggest obsession I’ve ever had in my 17 years of life. It’s something I have to call my own, this community, and it’s.. it’s just great being a fan of this show. I get to appreciate things like this video. What a great time to be a SpongeBob fan!!
I almost cried while watching this through the end. Every one involved on this project did phenomenal, this is THE example of what the power of a loving community can do.
Stronger than me. I balled like a baby at shell city and when I say the in memory of Steven Hillenburg it did me in. Something about SpongeBob and the way it brings everyone together just blows me away.
I just realized something about the ending short. Their designs start off modern but progressively get older. They start off looking like season 13, and slowly get more and more retro, to the point of their concept designs.
This is a masterpiece. A remake of everyone’s favourite movie, everyone gathering around to make this art of a movie. Thank you for making this beautiful movie. And remember… we are all goofy goobers! Keep up the great work.
I’m loving the people who add little references to the stylistic staples of Spongebob! The photorealistic pictures of real fish in place of the characters, the brief close-up detailed shots, that’s the mark of animators who love the source material!!!
Watching this really is hitting me hard. Seeing all these artist and voice actors work on something that made all of our childhoods memorable is getting me. I’m writing this right at the shell city scene right where I got emotional as a kid. Damn. Y’all guys are hitting my emotions.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to relive the joy I had of this movie through your eyes. I truly enjoyed every second of every single animation, that's inspired by Hillenburg. May his soyl rest forever in pieace
Can’t believe Viacom tried to take this down and get away with it. Nice to see this back up for the world to see how much ambition they put into this. Good work guys! ❤️
@Paul Martin Ok, the first one sounds like they actually did it out of greed. The second one sounds like it was done by some stupid employee. Either way, that's pretty sour😕😑
Not only was SpongeBob a good part of my childhood, but my dad passed away the same year as Hillenberg. Something like this really hits home, and seeing so many great animators come together to create this tribute is such an amazing thing. Well done to you all!
I also lost my great aunt that year who was the only family member beside my mum to respect me and treat me as an equal, it was only a month after Hillenburg so it was rough.
The fact Nick tried to take this down says more than enough to tell me they don't care about SpongeBob. absolute amazing tribute. Rest in peace Stephen.
this reanimation reminded me of how much i love this movie. i didn’t even know that i still remembered so many of the one liners from this movie. and when yall remixed the psychic wall of energy on the credits…hoo boi. i got nostalgic. nothing but love was put into this. kudos to everyone who worked on this. this was simply impressive.
Absolute masterpiece. A love letter to not only Spongebob but Stephen Hillenburg himself. Everyone did SO much from recreating amazing scenes to making music to the live action segments of it all. You all deserve a medal for making this. The Voice Actors while not perfect portrayed the characters beautifully and you could tell they cared a lot about this production on every end. YOu all did just an amazing and wonderful job and deserve every view. Rest in Peace Stephen Hillenburg. I'm sure you'd be proud of this.
Loved watching this in 2005, so awesome to see another re-creation like this! There's a Shrek re-told one as well if anyone hasn't already seen it! :) Well done everyone!
I'm so proud of everyone. This film was a gem and a staple of Stephen's legacy. Fans getting together to recreate this film in memory of him is so heart-warming to see.
This is an animated masterpiece, a great tribute to Stephen Hillenburg, and a testament of the potential of animators. I congratulate all of you involved in this project, Stephen and the original show’s team would be very proud!
So impressed at all the different animation styles, and 7:21 looks like it was straight out of the movie! Fantastic job to everyone involved! Also, 42:23 has an amazing animation style and I'd love to see a full show animated like that.

The song of "Ocean Man" always gets me feeling emotional. Thank you to all the talented people who helped to bring this project to life. And thank you Stephen Hillenburg for bringing joy to so many children and adults alike for so many years.
This rehydrated reanimation was just as magical as the first time I watched the movie, nay, even more! Seeing the phenomenal efforts of so many people combined into this one masterpiece, on both the different animations and the new voices, it's definitely the collaboration of the year! The scene where SpongeBob and Patrick dry up made me tear up, and I had the dumbest grin every time they were having fun! So yeah, well freaking done, you Goofy Goobers!
I love this beautiful remake! Not only do the numerous animations add freshness to the film, but the uniqueness adds more engagement and humor than the original. Props to everyone who worked on this film. Amazing job! 👏🏻
I saw the original in theaters as a kid (one of my first trips to the movies ever) and many more times after that on the DVD or when it would air on TV. The last time I watched must have been years and years ago but I didn't encounter a single moment watching this that I did not remember. This is one of the most fun animated films ever in my opinion and you guys did it justice and more. In a just world Paramount and Viacom would be celebrating that this tribute exists and Spongebob has such a dedicated fanbase who made it possible. You've done Stephen proud for sure.
I was wondering "why does the voice acting sound so good" and it's because it's a single production. The voices aren't 1-1 impressions, but that's actually a good thing because they're not trying to re-create the same line deliveries.
7:11 I was genuinely convinced this was from the actua movie it looks super good! Good job to all the animators and evryone else who worked on this project! This is a dream come true!
I don’t know if it’s nostalgia, tapping into those memories I made watching this movie hundreds of times as a kid, or the sheer amount of respect and love I can feel emanating from nearly all of these frames, but this really made me laugh, cry, and cry laughing a lot. I really love this. Thank you for all the care that everyone put into this.
Being a part of this project has changed my life for the better. I joined in late 2019, when I was just starting to realize my animation potential, and I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for all the support I received and the connections I made in this project. It really is surreal to see that I contributed to something much larger than myself, that I was able to build strong friendships with people from all around the world, and that I became much more in touch with something that means a lot to my deep passion for animation. I owe so much to the organizers of this collab, and I hope to keep being part of great projects like this in the future!
This project is absolutely incredible. As someone who has watched the SpongeBob Movie countless times and played the movie game on the PS2, a lot of memories came back to me when watching this. A huge thank you to every single person that is involved in this absolutely incredible project. Thank you for making this movie experience a different one and truly memorable.
After watching through this I got to admit that this whole project was absolutely incredible. I mean all the passion that was put into this to all the fans and animators show’s us how much dedication they have on SpongeBob. Thank you all for making and completing this wonderful project this and thank you Stephen Hillenburg for creating something for everyone’s childhood.
The amount of passion that I can see in this project is incredible. All these animators coming together to show their love for their childhood and this knockout of a movie and cartoon. Amazing job, guys!
It's great to see a rehydrated version of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, love this fan project, dedicated to Stephen Hillenburg who passed in November 2018, I really appreciate how much the fan project was made.
Whoever voiced Plankton did a phenomenal job, all the voice actors were great, but I seriously couldn’t tell the difference between the real audio and these
I was really impressed with how pretty much all the voice actors nailed not only the sound of the voices but also the cadence and delivery of the lines too. So good.

Lo mismo pensé yo cuando vi esa parte, maneja perfectamente los volúmenes de los objetos y personajes, es como si fueran modelos 3D cuando realmente estamos viendo 2D
Literally
maybe done in 3d and rotoscoped. or they're just insanely cracked
It actually took me off guard cuz' it is really well animated.
Best. Tribute. EVER.

I wish Stephen Hillenburg was still alive to see this reanimated version of the first SpongeBob movie. He'd be proud of how much time and effort was put into this masterpiece.
Don’t worry fellow fan, he sees it in our hearts 💕

This may be one of the, if not THE BEST, tributes to Stephen Hillenburg that will ever come to surface. His creation being remade by hundreds of his fans that hold it dear to their hearts, including myself, is a phenomenal farewell piece to arguably one of the greatest animated show creators of all time. There will never be another cartoon like Spongebob. Round of applause to every single animator and cast member who made this happen. This collaborative project will hopefully forever be cemented as a celebratory masterpiece that will be remembered by many.

The fact that some of these scenes looks EXACTLY like the original movie is absolutely amazing, stunning animation
There are some scenes that were taken from the OG movie as a transitional scene
Whoever animated the part for Mindy's quick explanation for the bag of winds was clearly inspired by Epic Mickey and I salute you for it.

If you can draw, animate, or even just edit pictures to mesh together, your contribution WILL make it in because you’re putting your time and effort into aiding this two-year-long project.
