I am so glad to have found your channel. I also love to read. This sounds like the perfect book for me because I love visiting national parks.

Hey that’s great! I sometimes wonder if I should have separated my content into different channels (like I did with my blogs), but I love when someone who watches certain of my videos discovers other content here 😀 There seems to be plenty of cross-over! Based on your videos I watched, I think you’ll love Leave Only Footprints!

I just finished Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I see it on the shelf behind you. I think I liked it some of it I didn't understand . I might try another one. I am so very sorry about the election.

I enjoy all of Blake Crouch’s sci fi thrillers (all on the shelf behind me) but Dark Matter is my favorite! Yes, I don’t understand all the science behind the concept but I love how twisty and thought-provoking it all is!!

I really wish I had been in the woods during the election...
I'm really interested in Leave Only Footprints. I'm going to have to check that one out!

I'm SO enjoying that book - and right now, my husband and I are watching some of the videos the author made for CBS Sunday Morning while traveling for the book :) And, yes, it was absolutely lovely to not see constant election updates and to be in that beautiful, peaceful place this week ... though that meant our shock on Wednesday morning was even greater!

Sorry you're not feeling well, Sue. Hope getting back on your supplements helps you. 😊
You've done a great review of this book though! I actually have it on hold at the library (based on your recommendation in the last video I watched). 😎 I'm looking forward to it more than ever now. Just that chapter on Borders, focusing on the Big Bend National Park in TX alongside the Rio Grande, sounds fascinating!
I understand some of how you're feeling emotionally this week. My (adult) kids and I were gutted with the election outcome, too. I was supposed to film a video yesterday (Wed) and publish it today, but I just couldn't muster the necessary energy. Tomorrow will have to do.
I *have* found it helpful to read the encouraging response essay that Rebecca Solnit wrote on Wednesday morning though. I couldn't find the right words to say to my kids - or to myself - but Solnit knew just what to say. ❤ Made me start re-reading her various essay collections immediately! 😊
Other than Solnit, I'm currently reading 'Pathogenesis' (by J. Kennedy) and 'Natural Causes' (by B. Ehrenreich), as well as several fiction books. 😁

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, Kim. I hadn’t heard of Solnit before so will check that out. Hope you feel up to recording today!

@SueJacksonDE Thanks, Sue! I am feeling a little better today. I think you'll really enjoy Rebecca Solnit. In addition to everything else, she is a staunch supporter and advocate for the environment.

I hope a few days back on your supplements help you. I can't wait to see your vlog. I don't think I have ever seen a Cypress tree. Leave Only Footprints sounds really interesting.

Thank you, Linda. This relapse is particularly frustrating because I don’t know what’s causing it. I appreciate the kind thoughts. Cypress trees are really cool! I’ll probably post the vlog on Tuesday.

Half way through The Radium Girls by Kate Moore, makes me very sad and angry. For a break, another nonfiction book I am reading is In Praise of Paths by Torbjørn Ekekund and enjoying it.

I’ve been meaning to read The Radium Girls for years! Glad you have a lighter read to provide a break!
