Are you the same as us ? Where we have planes going over playing noughts & crosses in the skies. Then an hour later the sun is completely blocked out with hazy cloud (I’m semi-rural) so it’s not pollution.
My allotment is next to: the local ambulance centre ( +sirens), the local police station (+ sirens), the local leisure centre, the local rugby ground (+cheerleaders), the local cricket ground and several industrial pallet crushers. This is utter peace to me after 15 years but the fair ( with waltzers and voice overs) was in town this weekend. If I hear 'somebody scream' one. more. time... Heads WILL roll. ( Gardening is relaxing, gardening is relaxing, gardening is relaxing ommmm)
I Was offered an allotment plot, right next to a main busy freeway. Which i wouldnt find relaxing on a Sunday morning. put myself back on the list to see if one came available more in. Fingers crossed soon be offered another one x
The only thing that survived me being away from January til June in our garden was the purple sprouting broccoli! We've had it with every evening meal for a week to catch it before it goes into flower, some of it already had, the bees love it.
Hello Jessie, I loved the frame you built for tomatoes. I will want to try and build one like that. My problem this year is starting too many seeds several weeks too early. I am keeping much better notes this year and I hope next year to be so more on track. Have a blessed week. I just watched a video with real bad news and I am a bit out of sorts. Thank you so much for your video each week I really do look forward to them! bye for now Steven
I love it how you film yourself putting the tomatoes out in your pj pants. That is exactly how life is. I like watching your vlogs, keep up the good work!
To delay blight help milk with water 1l milk in 10 l water mixed and water once a month or yeast dry or fresh 8g/100g mixed with 10l water. Leave it at night, stir and water also once a month. It helps also with powdery mildew
Zuza, this can be used in a green house as well as outside on tomatoes? I'm always hesitant to get my tomatoes wet. I used diluted milk on roses before and it worked very well against a kind of mildew.
I bought 5 gallon buckets at work to pot out tomatoes that I over planted from seed. I gave several plants away to family already, but I’ll put the rest on a table by the road/driveway with a FREE PLANTS sign. Now I’m considering pulling garlic 2-3 weeks early to have a place to plant out more.
Hi Jessie, love your videos. How are your outdoor tomatoes doing, i purchased some bags of composted stable manure for mulching a bed of tomatoes in an outdoor raised bed plus 8 potted brown in fabric pots, all were growing well up to a few weeks ago but now all show signs of Aminopyralid damage in varying degrees. Determined it’s definitely the mulch, as different compost brands used this season, with a tumbler Tom and potatoes still doing great as they were not mulched. I contacted company directly, but just wanted to make you aware in case, of course they’ll produce tons so poss just a small batch with contamination. Ah well I’m holding out for great things from a tumbler this year. Keep up the great work.
Just about finished hardening off my tomatoes, I think. No cold frame, tunnel, etc, so as a final step, I’m going to put out a set of duplicates out overnight tonight in cooler temps and see how they fare. You inspire.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️🍅🍅🍅👩🌾.
I'm in nw London and grow Mountain Magic Tom's outdoors. Never had blight issues with these at all, and they grow excellent golf ball sized Tom's that can be used for cooking or salads. All other Tom's I've grown get blight.
As I always say alive is good 😂😂 since so many things are bolting or being eaten already 🤦🏼♀️. Glad so many of the tomatoes I sent are growing 💪💪. Have a superb week ladies happy growing, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦 Ps mom needs a two wheel wheelbarrow it’s much easier to balance for us seasoned old broads 😂😂😂
Hi Jessie & your Mum, you are growing a good variety of tomatoes. Love the way you just build a frame, just like that! Brilliant! I hope your tomatoes thrive in the bed you have chosen. Thanks for the tip on Potty Mouth Club on when you mulch 😉 the weather is very strange, vety sunny thdn, cold & dull 🙄 great video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Try filling your plant hole with water and let that drain, before putting your tomatoes in. I live in Florida so I too, have sand soil. It really helps.
Well, not every garden day (or week for that matter) can be sunny and grand regardless of the forecast. It's supposed to be a warm sunny day here on southern Vancouver Island, however, the smoke clouds from the forest fires in the Interior has turned it into a cold, and I do mean cold, cloud filled day. But the veg are still growing away, especially the late winter veg. I'm not encouraged to put out the summer veg just yet. Is what it is.
It's such a delight to be planting out the tomatoes. I've just put mine in too and it's wonderful. I had the opposite problem last week, when I offered to do some emergency weeding of the raised beds at my local primary school. The forecast was for 13 degress and cloudy with a cool breeze so I packed my fleece and rain coat. But instead, I got sunburnt. Lesson learned. Don't trust the forecast. I've been slathering the whole family in suncream since - even when it's cloudy. I just don't trust the forecast anymore. Still, the warmer weather is here and it's delightful! And the jobs I need to do are still needing doing. How is the list not getting any smaller? xxx
Damn slugs did the same to my peas Jessie, cut them off at ground level. I had about 20 now got 1 and I reckon tonight it will go. Going to try and sow more if not too late. Happy days!!
Pak Choi had gone to seed in the communal Polytunnel and they smell like Oilseed Rape (the big fields of yellow) and it's very strong but smell amazing
Sun Gold cherry are my hubby's fav 😊 im only doing a few varieties this season but i usually do about 6 varieties. I'll probably do about 6 or 7 next year tho 😅
Was given one of your videos as a suggestion in January, liked it so much I have finally watched all of them start to this one. Between doing my own allotmenteering. Planted my tomato plants out today. Thanks for the Shropshire Seaweed tip it's fab.
Hi juss re sowing seed in compost. I had that problem this year I had terrible problems this year not happened b4 mine went hard. So I mixed with vermiculite and I found that was better. My chickpeas didnt really germinate so I decided not to grow them this year. 👍🙋🏻
Jessie, I’m intrigued by your tomato frame, and the spacing between stakes. My seed packets say 21 inches between. I am going with your spacing, but will I have to strip leaves?
Here in New Zealand we finished our summer and are in our autumn, but it was a rainy cold summer, thus tomatoes were only at the green unripe stage in our garden after the best of our growing season! I have to try again next summer and really hope that it will be better next time.
I live in a flat with no outside space, l can only go to my allotment for 2 hours on a Friday, do you think my tomatoes and cucumbers with be ok planted out this week, as they are getting quite big, l live on the south coast (hastings)

I've had a new pest I have never experienced before decimating my tomato plants...pigeons 🥲 Trying everything to deter them...apparently the like to steal the leaves and stems for nesting
Did anyone else see the squirrel come out of tree and along fence when Jesse was pick the mustard greens
Yes, I saw it nip across. 😅😂
Yes lol
I'm impressed with that tomato support . Here's to sunny days
Hiya Jessie Thankyou for a visit cheers Luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
"Lovely little chap" - I won't hold that against you! 🤣🤣🤣
My neighbour calls them rats too! I know they can be pests, we get a few and i appreciate them as you both do xx
Look after your old compost, keep it seperate, reuse it, rest it, feed it, its now gold.

You're a dab hand with the carpentry Jessie, Gustave Eiffel would be proud of that construction you made for the tomatoes.
Always a joy Jessie! Cheers!

I'm watching your vlog as I pot up my fig cuttings
Fab vlog Jessie 🥰

Sounds like the Grand National 😂🤣😂🥰
Sunny in rural north wales!
Thanks for visiting the garden centre , it is just down the road from me ! I will have to pop in . X
Would you mind sharing the name and location of the garden centre, fancy a little trip out and why not via a garden centre!!

You only get one chick pea per pod so at best a dozen peas per plant you really need to sow a field full of them
Always a great day when the toms are out. I love the frame that you have built great idea

Cheers Jessie I look forward to your video every Tuesday thanks.

Sun Gold cherry are my hubby's fav 😊 im only doing a few varieties this season but i usually do about 6 varieties. I'll probably do about 6 or 7 next year tho 😅
Good job, Jess. I like the new tomato frame. You have to invest in a gorilla cart, easier to pull to the garden or around the garden.
Was given one of your videos as a suggestion in January, liked it so much I have finally watched all of them start to this one. Between doing my own allotmenteering. Planted my tomato plants out today. Thanks for the Shropshire Seaweed tip it's fab.
Just lovely!👏👏👏👏👏👏
You know stuffs getting exciting when the tomatoes are out!!! Can't wait to get mine out too! 😁❤️

Same kind if weather here in Holland, veges just don't know what to do
Fabulous plot

You can make delicious green tomato chutney if you still have the unripe tomatoes!
I think the weather is making it up to us tomorrow, everything is looking great considering how cool it has been! No Lil-fluffy-trousers this week?
I thought those were seedlings or clones of medicinal plants in the beging of your video 😊🌱
Lovely to see you growing in similar circumstances to me (just up the river in Marlow). So I'm learning from your expertise. Keep up the good work!
This is the first time that I've seen sweet corn starters.😁
I love you.
Awe nice squirrel. Please don't take aim at it. 🤣
Steve Digwell did a compost trial with 15 different ones .All of the Rocket Grow performed quite badly .
Lovely vlog as always jessie! By the way, did you try the webs wonderful, does it taste? Hearty greetings from hamburg
My dad calls them rats with fur coats.😂😂

Hi Jessie could you tell me the size of pot you use for your peppers please thanks
Greetings,
Inquiring minds...would like to know what type of fava beans do you plant?
Cheers🍷
I live in a flat with no outside space, l can only go to my allotment for 2 hours on a Friday, do you think my tomatoes and cucumbers with be ok planted out this week, as they are getting quite big, l live on the south coast (hastings)

That’s true, I worry about how thin she is…❤

If they tell you that. Then you know I AM right. If they ever tell nothing about those. If not, then i´m just a dreamer :D
Jessie I’m quite impressed by your building skills 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Jessie STOP 🛑 you are driving on the wrong side of the road!! 🫣🫣🇺🇸🇺🇸
