It could have been better but it was their first public performance, of course there will be knits to pick. But of you can't appreciate the effort to maintain the true soul of the original in this piece than you're opinion isn't worth much to me. How to to slaughter an Iconic track....These guys maybe the current flavor but they need to learn something about doing a cover, pick something that is with in your range and your talents.
As you heard it was their first time playing the song. They started as a cover band playing in casinos. I heard them live 4 times and they covered Smells like teen spirit, with or without you, 500 miles, etc. and I can tell you they can cover songs. Of course not everyone but still. My fahter is a huge U2 fan who doesn't really listen to ID but he was blown away by With or without you
I like their own stuff, studio songs anyway, Maybe this song was not in their capability because I have listened to a few other covers of this song and those have been excellent.
I heard them 2 days later in Sydney and they were fantastic at this song, you could tell they’d really ironed it out in that short a time. I just regret that I recorded 2/3s of the song and not the full thing because it was gorgeous

Respectful sure, but not anywhere close to good, they don’t really have the power that midnight oil does, so IMO it doesn’t work
