I saw this Spanish lady in Copenhagen about 11 years ago, and I honestly felt like learning to dance flamenco and also Irish dancing, but too bad, I'm in my late sixties and can't move that fast anymore ;-)
I'm from Germany, and one of my Dreams is, to make holidays Ireland. I love the irish traditions, history, nature and music. And if I see this show, i have to cry, because I'm absolutely overwhelmed by this faboulous performance. Everything fits! This is unique, THIS IS GODLIKE!
This is how Ireland should represent itself, there is so much to show to the world. I've been living in Ireland for over 2 years now and I want to see more of stuff like this, more history, more national pride projected into something like this. Not silly drinking and messing about. Come on Ireland, you are so much better then you show! Looking at this....this little green island could show the world how to present a culture. Don't wait Eire, just do it!
I saw a bunch of those shows at Radio City. I also saw a bunch of those dancers at Langan's or Paddy Reilly's on 2nd ave when they had a residency at Radio City Music Hall. Only Riverdance could sell out Radio City for that long.
Lough Nay.....good hunting....lovely place....River Bann good fishing...poker in the Marrian Hall...Kilrea...great memories....miss the soda scones and veg roll....the best!
Colin Dunne and Jean Butler should go down in history like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Absolutely beautiful dancing together! I wish they'd do a new show!
What a beautiful melding of Spanish and Irish dance. And now with a new dance company, you can really appreciate how many talented people there are! Wonderful!
I prefer the dresses with the poofy, see-through sleeves to the metallic light blue ones that they're using now. But the green dresses that they use for reel around the sun are gorgeous. Although the dresses they used to use were very classy and simple. I love the climax :D
haha, that was great. I always thought that the flamenco's stamp and the riverdance were kind of similar. I like a lot both of them. Well, I must say that being andalusian I miss some guitar sound and a flamenco singer, but mixing both in the same show was a nice experiment.
Flatley is simply the best ever, whether you like him or not he was the star of Riverdance and always will be to anyone who saw the orginal production.
i rented the tape to this from the library two years ago, i wish they could have another live performance in california, i would definitely see it. It's FANTASTIC!
@arodoet126 It IS Riverdance in New York. DODG also has Colin Dunne and Jean Butler as lead, but I'm sure if you've actually seen Riverdance you would know that this is part of the show.
Totally awesome! Watching this and then the version with Michael Flatley there's no comparison. This fellow here is obviously emjoying the entirety of the dance and not just himself.
Thanks. I needed that. It's been a little rough today and I've found myself here. I saw it with Flatley in DC and have had no trouble ever seeing Colin Dunne do this. There is such a fire between him and Jean. I also think this is a much better produced version than the video I have. This is much better thought-out on how to shoot it. Anyway, I never would have guessed I'd wind up here, and it was absolutely right. And if you'll excuse me, I need to watch it again.
Enitfra, the guy's name is Colin Dunne, described by Jean Butler as the best Irish Dancer in the world. He took over from Michael Flatley, when Flatley's ego got the better of him...
i love this....wha? colin have a black shirt when at the beggining and then a white shirt...oh my god...he is dressing up fast...:)))))) 5 stars...hm...Jean smiles when she stands head in head with colin...interesting....i love this...
los amoooo a odosss amo sus coreos ojala yo tuiviera un poquito de todo el talento y el angel que tienen ellos la verdad, que dios los bendiga siempre jajjaja la fan numero 0 :)
I like this version because Colin and Jean look like they are having fun together in the dances together, whereas you saw an almost rivalry or barely able to tolerate Micheal Flatley. flatley is good at his craft, but there is so much ego there. This makes the dance look so much better in my opinion. Erin
Goodness I'd love to dance this. I don't have to be the center of attention, just the challenges of remembering, and keeping pace, and the pride in your team would be wonderful... One of my favorite dances (though I rarely get to do it) is Morris Reel. Even though you can't say while you're doing it that you enjoy the way it steals your breath and tests your memory... When you've got a group who knows it and can actually do it (even if not perfectly) You can't stop the smiles.
this modesty makes all the difference. This guy is far better tan Flatley. His sobriety goes according to the sobriety and skill of Irish dancing men. He knows how to be "First dancer" of troupé.
I used to see Flatley eat Irisman for breakfast. He was seventeen and my sister Kathleen was busy having her clock cleaned every week by a little bitty Jean Butler at every feish in N.Y. SUNNYSIDE QUEENS RULES!!!!!!!!
IT is in our heart and in our souls...music and dance of an undeafed nation of the world...the english tried and still try...Hail to the Irish...you crawl before you can walk...you walk before you can run...and dance before you die... An ode to all wankers below...and they know who they are..."Respect for others cost nothing provided it is due...the reward for respect of others is their respect for you..." Setanta... (IRAprovos).
@devilsluk Jean Butler is Irish American, rather than French. Therefore, it would be the English (or Irish American) pronunciation of Jean rather than the French pronunciation.
i dunno if i was more amazed by the dancing or the light show. ^^ -srsly, well done! Is the dancing suppozed to remind you of deer? Cause thats exactly what the dancing reminds me of. Beautiful.
I saw this Spanish lady in Copenhagen about 11 years ago, and I honestly felt like learning to dance flamenco and also Irish dancing, but too bad, I'm in my late sixties and can't move that fast anymore ;-)
Butler, Dunne, all teh dancers, singers and musicians of that era... this was Riverdance. How I miss it =)
Colin Dunne is hardcore. I was in this audience and we didn't miss the Flat at all. UP LONG BEACH!!!!!
I'm from Germany, and one of my Dreams is, to make holidays Ireland. I love the irish traditions, history, nature and music. And if I see this show, i have to cry, because I'm absolutely overwhelmed by this faboulous performance. Everything fits! This is unique, THIS IS GODLIKE!
you're right. i enjoy this for one of the main reasons that you can tell that they completely enjoy what it is they are doing.
This is how Ireland should represent itself, there is so much to show to the world. Makes me so proud to be Irish!
I completely agree. Colin is The Man.
Colin Dunne and Jean Butler should go down in history like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Absolutely beautiful dancing together! I wish they'd do a new show!
i could watch this over and over again and to top it off the riverdace is coming to oregon yes i am so there
This is just awesome! I remember watching Riverdance on tv when I was seven. That's where I really started wanting to tell stories.
Colin Dunne and Jean Butler are amazing. I LOVE irish dance and because of shows like this I have been dancing for 7 years.
I am so VERY proud to be Irish. Been there and Loved it. Riverdance is the best show live....go see it!!!!
I saw this show in Oslo years ago, and it was truly amazing!! The energy and the joy these dancers bring with them is awesome!
I went to go see this and it was the best night everrrrr! Her flemenco is the best I've ever seen =]
i love her flemenco...so much better than the dance i saw in barcelona.
What a beautiful melding of Spanish and Irish dance. And now with a new dance company, you can really appreciate how many talented people there are! Wonderful!
Saw this show show live in glasgow, one word: AMAZING!
I used to own this movie! my parents bought it when I was young and it made me fall in love with Riverdance and Celtic music.
Yeah, Colin, is the best, I wish they do like a reunion ( team 97, I think was the one in NY), where ever they go, I'll go to see them!.
jean looks happier dancing with this guy than with michael
Michael was apparently a nightmare to work with!
And Colin kinda looks like he has a crush on her.
stunning!!!!!!!!every dancer and all the music.
It's cool how they had the Flamenco dancer battle the riverdancer! Man I miss to lord of the dance!
wow the last two minutes give me goosebumps! THIS IS AWESOME! 5 STARS!
This guy is way more attractive than Michael Flatley... Jean Butler is my role model!
I prefer the dresses with the poofy, see-through sleeves to the metallic light blue ones that they're using now. But the green dresses that they use for reel around the sun are gorgeous. Although the dresses they used to use were very classy and simple.

1996, Live from Radio City- New York. With Maria Pagés, jean butler & Colin Dunne
Flatley is simply the best ever, whether you like him or not he was the star of Riverdance and always will be to anyone who saw the orginal production.
i rented the tape to this from the library two years ago, i wish they could have another live performance in california, i would definitely see it. It's FANTASTIC!

The line at the end still sends chills down my spine after all these years.
I just wish the camera wouldn't jump around so much...
I was somewhat amazed when I learned that Jeanne Butler is an American from New York. I just always assumed she was Irish.
Thanks. I needed that. It's been a little rough today and I've found myself here. I saw it with Flatley in DC and have had no trouble ever seeing Colin Dunne do this. Enitfra,
the guy's name is Colin Dunne, described by Jean Butler as the best Irish Dancer in the world. He took over from Michael Flatley, when Flatley's ego got the better of him...

The male leads name is Colin Dunne. And I would pay good money to see him, Michael Flatley, Daire Nolan, and Brendan de Gallai have a dance duel.
Michael Flatley and Jean Butler rules.
That is María Pagés, the flamenco dancer. Jean Butler appears at 03:20.
I looved this show when i went to see it. I was at this one and it was amazing!!!1
ooo wow
I got goosebumps.
los amoooo a odosss amo sus coreos

I loved it...
jean butler looks awesome
Ciertamente si, es fascinante... Saludos!
I dare anyone who watches this to sit absolutely still.
Colin made me love Riverdance. Well, Jean might have had something to with it, and the music too, but....
you get the idea.
So brilliant, the whole team!
And of course, Jean Butler is nothing short of gorgeous with that long, red hair and those looks... :D
fantastisk, greeting from Denmark
Goodness I'd love to dance this. I don't have to be the center of attention, just the challenges of remembering, and keeping pace, and the pride in your team would be wonderful...

Me encantan desde los 3 años
@devilsluk Jean Butler is Irish American, rather than French. Therefore, it would be the English (or Irish American) pronunciation of Jean rather than the French pronunciation.
I agree. He does not seem to be full of him self like Flatly.
love it
Anyone else think that this should be an olympic event?
