- Chiba-Makuhari, JAPAN - 1994 World Figure Skating Championships, Pairs' Free Skate - First, a profile on Isabelle Brasseur and Lloyd Eisler of Canada, followed by their Free Skate where they placed 2nd despite Isabelle skating in pain from a hairline fracture in the ribs caused by repeated pounding of the ribs from performing the triple lateral twist lift. They would win the Silver Medal here.

1994 saw Canada's best figure skating team since 1988, (Orser, Wilson & McCall, Manley,) and it was wrecked by injuries. Brasseur's rib and Elvis Stojko's ankle cost them both gold.

@DimaOlerd She had a hairline fracture on her 8th rib by now after all the repetition from practicing the triple lateral twist lift since Canadian Nationals. Without pain killers and only a 1/2' thick padding, it was all she could muster.
@DimaOlerd Judges know without having to hear about things from skaters themselves. Why do you think Oksana won over Nancy?
@DimaOlerd They were reigning World Champions and 2 time Olympic bronze medalists going into these Worlds. Add the fact that the judges know Isabelle was competing injured and in pain, and you have some judges holding them up out of reputation and others because of sympathy for Isabelle...
They should have won gold. They had some very small mistake but their program was just so much more enjoyable and sophisticated.
and then Shishkova & Naumov got robbed of the gold the next year when they skated perfectly and better than here and Kovarikova & Novotny fell and still beat them. What irony.
um kurt.... that lateral twist was a double.... he honsetly is one of the worst commentators
