El-Goli park
Hike in El-Goli park (formerly known as Shahgoli park) (Southeast of Tabriz, Shah-Gulu. El-Gulu or as local calls Shah-Gulu is a grand park in south east of Tabriz. There is a big rectangular artificial lake in the middle of the Park with a restaurant. This place used to be a summer palace for the Iranian royal families during the time that Tabriz was the capital of the state and once it was the resident for the crown prince. Nowadays the palace in the middle renovated in the form of a restaurant and a small amusement park is constructed in next to the park. In summer time many residents came to the park and dust hike through the pedestrian pathway around the lake or have their dinner in the Forrest hills next to the lake.

As a picturesque natural phenomenon comprising distinctive medicinal and healing features, Urmia Lake definitely constitutes one of the main attractions around Tabriz
El Gölü (Azerbaijani: El Gölü ائل گؤلو, and Persian: ائل گلی), also known as Shah Gölü (Persian: شاه گلی‎‎, Azerbaijani: Şah Gölü) is the name of a large park in Tabriz,Iran. It has an square artificial lake surrounded by side walk in four sides. There is also a building in the middle of the lake, with traditional architecture of Iranian Azerbaijan. In South of the lake there is a hill covered by trees. Two beautiful stairways connecting the side walks to the top of the hill. At top of the hill there is a building with modern architecture (Hotel Pars building). There is also a small luna[clarification needed] park next to the park.
Early history of the El-Gölü is not clear. However, it seems that the lake originally was used as a water resource for agricultural purposes. In old times there was an artificial island with an small palace in the middle of the lake which was used as royal summer palace during the Qajar dynasty (when Tabriz was the official residence of Prince of Iran). During 2nd Pahlavi's the palace was reconstructed and a pass-way is built to connect the island to the side walks around the lake. constructed in karakoyunlu period 1485 AD.
During Pahlavi Dynasty Shah renamed the lake's name from El Gölü to Shah Gölü but after the Iranian Revolution, the name of Shah Gölü was renamed to its original name El Gölü in official documents meaning People's Lake.

Tabriz
