I think it was really cool and impressive. Specially because you found a trick created by the show staff. The reason why you didn't think it was difficult is because of your high level. Congrats!

I thought it was a great challenge. It's always good to show others the potential of the human mind. Crazy that you didn't get to go to the finals though. I'm suprised that you didn't do a card memorisation stunt as that would definitely be more interesting and fast pace for the hosts and audience

seems like it was fun, a lot of the hardships you had sounded normal for being on a tv program, doesn't seem like you were pressed into anything that would've been legitimately weird for you--i am very surprised that, as boring as you thought it was, you were basically the second place finish that means that it did at least seem very impressive. I find it pretty impressive your mnemonics worked well through a language barrier, that's a really nice thing for you to experience. I wonder how much it falls apart or stays together in languages with a less romanized alphabet like Chinese, Arabaic, etc. I think a big part of the wow factor was the fact you were foreign and the fact you memorized SO MUCH in such a small span, it was a lot from their perspective including mine.

Hi Nelson. I rediscovered your channel recently and was similarly surprised by this video. I think it’s fair to say that there’s reason for people to be confused. In a comment you say it wasn’t about the money, but in another comment and in the video you say money was a big determinant in competing. You also say you were there for the challenge, and I get that but if I want a challenge I just do a crossword, I don’t travel to a country actively occupying another country and partake in their entertainment. Also you say this decision wasn’t political. I know you think it isn’t, but the decision to go is not apolitical. You mention the crimea situation, and another comment said that the map had Ukraine regions in it but I’m not certain, and I don’t get how you can’t see this as not a simple hand wave laugh it off comment. If you were Ukrainian or had a sexuality that Russia views as inhuman would you have competed just because you love travel or the challenge of it? Do you have any further thoughts a few months on? I know you don’t agree with the politics of Russia and are kind of saying that people gotta live, but I think the situation is above that. Keeping this video up is a wild look for your channel without any further comment so I’d be interested to hear your points.

No worries about the propaganda stuff. You are absolutely right about the politics aspect of it - war supporters are really a small part of it, but there is no much choice around. Moscow is a modern city with one of the best infrastructures, the cultrural aspect is less interesting IMO.

haha Nelson in Russia. mad man. I think that for this video you will get a ton of hate because you came to us. Most likely, the directors had an idea, in addition to showing your abilities, to also introduce propaganda about the territories. Someone will laugh hahaha the American recognized Crimea and other territories. Blockheads who think about politics when we are talking about phenomenal memory. I see propaganda here about what cool and brilliant people there are in the world. (I'm talking about you Nelson)) I hope you had a cool experience. I hope someday mnemonics will also be popular in Russia, and tournaments will appear. Good luck. Have you checked your pockets for tracking devices?) hahaha

The jury before voiting said that it is a pity that they don't have the right to vote, after the voting Evgeny asked the host if he would allow the Chinese couple to take part in the final, he asked the other jury members if they agree and everyone agreed. That was the reason they presented on TV, maybe there was another one off camera.
Apart from that, congratulations Nelson, I was also second in this program in my episode :)

Impressive memory, and equally impressive assholery by russia to put annexed Ukrainian land as their territory on the map (Herson, Zaporizhzhia, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk).

Nelson, I find your channel during the course "Learning How to Learn" many years ago. You motivate me to, become an endless learner. And I watched all the videos from your trips. And now, I left my country because russians destroyed my home in Volchansk. And bombing Kharkiv daily. Unfortunately, you will get support from 140 million country and I wish you became a journalist and travel at least to Kharkiv(Ukraine) and Belgorod(russia) to understand what are you doing.

Hey there. Yes, the Learning How To Learn course is an amazing course. Im happy to hear it’s helped you. As for your other comment, I’m not trying to get the support from any country or anyone really, other than the people who can appreciate the memory challenge that this video was about.

I think the 1962 cuban missile crisis is a decent way to summarize the current war in Ukraine especially with the recent news that Russia has been in Caribbean waters/Cuba for the past two days as an answer to nato countries allowing Ukrainians to shoot the long range missiles they've provided into Russia.
Talent shows are great but you'd probably get more satisfying results with things that doesn't require you be at the mercy of low attention span audience voters. You should go for Guinness's world records.

I used to be your follower, Nelson, until I saw this video. It was a shock to me that you accepted that disgusting invitation from russia.
I was born in russia, and my parents and brother still live there. For more than 20 years, I've been living in Ukraine, and I adore this wonderful country. Every single day and night, I'm hiding my little daughters in the bathroom while russian rockets are flying over my house.
I will never go to russia again. The people who live there keep voting for their crazy government and support this awful war, whether silently or actively.
Sorry, but it’s unbearable for me to follow your channel after realizing how careless you are, despite being so smart. That's a pity

    • @NelsonDellis
      @NelsonDellis  2 месяца назад +2

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I completely understand the gravity of the situation in Ukraine and your personal feelings about my appearance on Russian TV. I want to clarify that I do NOT support the war, and it deeply saddens me that people are living in fear and uncertainty due to the conflict.
My decision to appear on the show was purely professional, focused on sharing my memory techniques with an audience that may not have any control over the actions of their government.
I value freedom of choice, and just as you are free to follow or unfollow RUclips channels based on your beliefs, I am free to make decisions for my career. This opportunity allowed me to reach new people, experience a different culture, and yes, financial gain was a consideration as well (as it always is when I’m asked to be on these kinds of shows, whether it be in Russia or any other country in the world).
I appreciate your understanding that not all decisions are political, and I hope you can respect that my motives were not aligned with endorsing any harmful actions. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. All the best.

@@NelsonDellis So basically you described “I don't care what happens there, they offered a lot of money and I went.” To support something you don't need to say it, it was enough to do such an action to show your views and interests.
