I can't stand it. He sounds like he should be doing something peter pan or lord of the rings. Sharpe sounds like the village idiot or atleast like he's just starting feel the effects of that nightquil he downed and lt bowen sounds like the bullied twelve year old boy that every one keeps around for laughs. And the brigadier sounds like the british equivalent to Yosemite sam. Guess I'll have to find time to read this one
Gaminara was a good narrator even if he pronunciation was often a bit strange. This new guy is different but I quite like him now I have got used to his renditions
Sharpe is supposed to be a London ragamuffin. With this new narrator, he sounds more like a Northerner. At moments, I even get shades of Fred Dibnah, whilst previously he was more Michael Caine.
he was always a londoner but after Sean bean was cast the novels through in some back story to cover his Northern accent. should have jet black hair rather than blonde too. never mind. Bean was great
It is a little off putting hearing this characterization of Sharpe's and Harpur's voices, nevertheless the man does a great job with accents and his narration is perfect. Such incredible voice talents are used in Cornwell's books. Another superb job is done by the voice actors in the original James Bond series. Nothing like a bad voice actor to destroy a good audio book which seems to be the rule unfortunately.
why is Sharpe speaking in a truculent northern accent when he was born and raised in London? I know Sean Bean used his own Geordie accent but there is no need to get it wrong here,
So much comedy in the verbals exchanges. Really enjoyable for the umpteenth time of listening.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man I'm addicted to this story of sharpes adventure s
Binge listening. Doing the wife’s night time head in 🤣🤣👍👍cheers
Truly appreciate these being available- thank you ❤❤
I also loved Gaminara , but I think this new bloke does a great job! Looking forward to part 2!
I hate when they change narrators though I think this guy does a pretty good job
Yeah he’s nowhere near as good as William Gaminara

He's ok but he's doing a sean bean impersonation for sharpe and it doesnt suit him.
Too squeeky
I really did like William Gaminara as narrator, his Sharpe and Harper accent was magnificent. Hopefully get used to it. Sounds like Steven Fry.
Gaminara brought Cornwell’s brilliant writing to life. I’ve yet to be able to finish listening to this one…
Fry is too fruity.
Sharpe recovered REALLY fast from that head wound 😅

In earlier novels it is explained he was born oop north then grew up in london hence accent!

Good god incarnate
This narrator makes it sound like the head wound left sharpe with lasting damage.

Sean Bean does not have a Geordie accent lol. But I agree with you about sharppe.
Sean Bean is from Sheffield. 😉
Definitely a Yorkshire accent
Yep, I think we are agreed now. My mistake@@edwardblacklock2446
Sean Bean is a Yorkshireman not a Geordie

The reading is very poor. Harper sounds like Sharpe at times. It’s difficult to follow
Sharpes accent is terrible
So gloomy. Sounds like the character from Monty Python’s Holy Grail - but I don’t love her, father… not at all inspiring!!
@@gjohnson438 one day son, this all will be yours
What the curtains?
William Gaminara is the best. And David Case ( aka Frederikson) is absolute worst. His raspy British LGBT voice is a nightmare.
I'm struggling with this narrator.
This narrator is like pulling teeth 😬
Rupert Farley is a much better narrator and does the voices better.
Such a gloomy Sharpe voice. Sounds like a whinger… 🤨
