Don’t worry, good ole Duckett will make an exemption for himself and Gary. He is 100% the type of guy that would do that. I would be extremely shocked if he abided to his own qualification rules and actually was replaced by a rookie.
Boyd and Gary are just a bunch of greedy dirtbags how could you do that ruin 30 angler's career's. How is Gary Kline in the fishing hall of fame and I've read his record he won maybe 8 tournament's in his whole career he doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame yea he's won alot of money. Boyd ducket makes the worst rod's in the industry garbage, trash, crap . Greed greed greed that's all this sport is turning into greed . As far as I'm concerned Gary and Boyd are just a bunch of greedy dirtbags and the both of them should be kicked out of the sport and mark my words it's gonna come back and bite them in their ass . When people do things to hurt others that's just terrible I don't think they remember when they first started out.now what are those 30 angler's going to do they have families to take care of but they don't think of that it's how much money can I make getting rid of them absolutely disgraceful these two guys should be ashamed of themselves. Makes you sick to your stomach that another bass angler would do that to you. And if any of you people don't like what I said to bad that is just down right rotten what they did.

Looks like a easy decision to me but he’s different. MLF is going to be the show to watch next season to see if and who makes it back into the high life. To some degree, I understand the transformation. Adjusting the field and establishing the invitational series seems like the natural order of things. I see some well knon anglers on the bubble. who've been in the mix since the beginning. This will affect sponsorships. I'm not sure MLF wouldn't be liable for damages. It could depend on the contracts.

These changes seem to suck for the anglers, but I would think the 50 boat field would open up new bodies of water that don’t necessarily have large enough ramp facilities or lodging. I, for one, would like to see a tourney on the Miss that wasn’t 7,8,&9 every single time. Does the 50 boat limit keep tourney license fees down, or open up opportunities in new states?
Not really because even when they had 80 anglers they never fished more than 40 anglers per day in current format, which they could fish 40 boats almost anywhere

I will take it even farther.. i quit Bass fishing period because of BASS FISHERMAN... have a multi species boat now and fish for walleye. Northern. Musky. Crappie and fish FOR FUN! TOO MANY TOURNAMENTS! They hog up the lakes the ramps and for the most part are very arogant guys... they whine and complain they cant make a living... Find another career!!! Nothing is guaranteed in this life. If you can make money fishing good for you.. i couldn't.. chose another path!! Tired of all it. Just my opinion and yes i know what they say but life is too short.... have fun.. it is supposed to be fun!!

If I’m not mistaken Boyd owned an come up with the MLF format an sold it to Outdoor Life Network (OLN). What happened to letting the fish on the scales decide who stays or goes the elites way of doing a four day event seems to be a great way to keep the anglers focused on fishing an it’s clear the ones that are focused. The anglers that keep struggling are putting there time in to podcast an other business opportunities . My opinion if you go one season without one or two top 25 finishes or 3 top 50 you should have repercussions. Just like any professional sport should have to have a certain level of consistency to stay the anglers with rich parents or born with a silver spoon shouldn’t be allowed to stay in the game because they can afford to pay to stay fish on the scales is the only way to keep it 100% who’s the best .

Me too, want to see Josh stick around, although Josh probably has the chops and being young enough to requalify, some of these guys I don't think have that drive anymore
you may want to check your information before posting it. Jason Lambert left MLF at the end of 2022 for the Bassmaster open EQ's
Jason' did move to Bassmaster Opens but he averaged a 72.5 finish in AOY in 4 years, so I am pretty confident he wasn't getting invited back in 2023 unless others dropped, so I don't think its too inaccurate, should have set Cut/Move to BASS not retired
@HellaBass actually he did get invited back but he didn't want to stay. They actually sent him his contract and asked him to stay. He planned on leaving after the 2nd event of the year
#FBD Next year with the cuts pretty sure good ole Boyd and Klein with still be on BPT even though they are not in top 60. Pretty easy to stay in the game when you make the rules. Having Boyd being a decision maker and competitor makes MLF like WWE.

This is 100% a great move for MLF. Now I can watch everyone I want to watch without the bottom half. And for them other 35 guys the opens are wide open so if their really that good they'll have no problem making it to the Elite series
I think only a select few have the chops to make it through opens at this point
the NPFL seems like a logical destination for many of these guys

#FBD! This man is running MLF down the drain. The rules keep changing and it always benefits him. It’s only a matter of time before more big names bail out and go back to BASS.

Its a business decision that basically cuts the fat off of the bottom end of the league. With current cut backs in every industry, im not surprised MLF made the changes. It’s financially irresponsible to maintain bottom feeders that are never seen on a knockout round day or championship day. It’s basically wiping your ass with and throwing money away at lower tier anglers that dont produce.
What i do find comical is that when BASS reduced their field…. Silence! Not one word of disgust. MLF reduces their field.. and everyone loses their mind! Oh the hypocrisy!😂😂
Regardless, doesn’t sound like financial struggles. But rather a marketing strategy for top tier anglers. 2024 will be interesting to say the least.
BASS reduced their field almost 20 years ago, not exactly current events but it has been brought up on several platforms. The changes MFL is making on their face are not necessarily a bad thing. The problem most people have that are directly affected as well as a lot of fans perspective is the pattern of lies and secrecy that within the MLF management.
Let's see, cutting 30 anglers, reducing tournament days, increasing entry fees, changing format AGAIN? Yup, definitely cost cutting measures trying to remain solvent.
@@kevingonyea reducing tournament days does absolutely nothing to the bottom line so thats a non-issue. Reducing the field does save some money on the bottom line, another non-argument. Overall, looks like solvency is just fine. We shall see 2024.
As for changing back to every fish… that was given since many think the 5 fish format is old and tired. Didn’t come as a shock they went back to something entertaining.
@@Venandii77 so your saying shortening the tournament days saves no money? What about hotels for tournament staff, media and photographers as well as reimbursement of officials for those days? I’m sure there are other expenses I’m not thinking about as well. Also a lot of the competitors are mad they went back to every fish counts after voting last year to go to best 5. Especially since they weren’t notified in any way that it was going to happen. So much for angler driven league. Lol
@@markripp6428 no what im saying, based off of previous comments …that reducing tournament days wasn’t the driving force behind the changes. And considering that they were using local boat officials and not traveling officials, the money saved was minimal at best.
The competitors are pissed because they didn’t have a voice in the changes. But name one business that allows employees to make decisions… none. And as anglers they pay entry fees for the chance to fish tournaments within a privately owned business. They are technically a contracted competitor. They sign contracts and shouldn’t be socked that business decisions were made from actual paid employees.

This whole BPT business plan has been a bust since its inception. Anglers not on the water the same days as their competitors, resetting weights every couple of days, every fish counts, this is not what most people consider a legitimate tournament circuit. If I fished BPT I would be planning for my next career move cause their future ain't lookin' good! These changes would not be occurring if the BPT was profitable... regardless of anything Boyd Duckett might claim.

agreed fishing is not the same for all people, and the majority of anglers enjoy fishing outside of competition and I know several people that tournaments ruined fishing for them when they participated

@@HellaBass It already has with many “lesser” tour’s. I’ve also heard that a no FFS/electronics tour is being formed with a $300,000 pay out. With the electronics companies paying MLF and Bassmasters millions of dollars annually, it will take awhile but they’ll have to choose eventually… money or viewership as many people, like myself, have stopped watching professional bass fishing…

Good job with the numbers. But at the end of this video you state that professional bass anglers were "promised" some sort of spot for the future of their bass angling career. No way. This is a sport, as well as a business, and there are few, if any, promises that can be kept. And those promises better have been contractual. And even if contractual, they can be legally breached, with potential legal ramifications.
Geez. People feeling sorry for a bunch of fishermen. A small group who may have to do something else with their lives.
Most people I know fish recreationally with no "promises", and they are perfectly fine with it. But if you want to be on a Wheaties box, dig down deep into your guts, and take a chance. (NO PROMISES!!!!)
Maybe promise wasn't the right choice of words, I think they were sold a pipe dream of the promise land and it may have back fired on them. Maybe most of them would be in a similar position if they stayed fishing Bassmaster, but we will likely never know. Much like the best way to take fun out of golf is to keep score, fishing tournaments ruins fishing for many angler as well

Professional fishing is a privilege. Hardly a real job. Professional fishermen don’t keep my power on or the roads maintained. They contribute very little to western civilization.
Due to this type of mismanagement, MFL is on its way out. 1,050,000$ of entry fees gone. 30 fewer competitors to promote the organization along with their sponsors. Duckett is, in my opinion, listening to the wrong people or just plain dumb.

Except if you make PGA tour, you don't pay entry fees and if you are at the top of the sport, you make a great living
@HellaBass there are entry fees for amateurs. In fact, if you are an amateur, you can not accept money over $1000. You can play equipment and accept as a gift. It is extremely hard to qualify for the PGA Tour. In golf if you make the tour, a player must earn enough money to stay within the top 125 on the FedEx Cup point list at the end of the season. If not, you are relegated back to amateur status. You have to pay more fees to enter tournaments. Being a pro angler and a pro golfer is very similar. In some cases you have to have a job, to help fund you. My fraternity brother had to sleep in the cart barn, maintain greens and fairways and if time allowed he could play an event or two. You essentially have to be born into wealth to make it in both sports or you have to rough it. These luxury sports are not for the faint of heart.

@HellaBass same with MLF. The MLF doesn't restrict amateurs from making a certain stipend of cash to get started. In terms of equipment and sponsors, it's unlimited. The reason the PGA has a longer list of qualifiers is the complexity of the courses. It's so difficult to go under par at Sawgrass, Augusta, Bay Hill, etc. Both sports are a grind. Both are gambles. Life is a gamble, but dreams come and go. There should be a cut line in MLF. You aren't guaranteed a living. In fact, the only things guaranteed are taxes and dying, and money makes your living worthwhile.

This guy sold a bunch of great fisherman a pipe dream! He let his ego and his desire to stick it to BASS do damage to the sport of professional bass fishing. As a result, of his bungling, many good men will be out of work and will have less opportunity to provide for their family.

All this whining and crying sounds like my grand children fussing among themselves. I am a life long fisherman at 64 years old. I have watched professional bass fishing evolve into the mess that it is now!! It is not the technology at fault but the root cause is the anglers involved. Technology is GOING to evolve in fishing just like in any way of life use it if you like it and don't if it does not suit YOU.

Biggest fraud in bass fishing, literally lied to anglers to come to your circuit and promise them money, no entry fee, then cut half the roster sucks for the anglers that needs to get in or else they will be fishing a different circuit.
