I love these machines as they are... no clone, no modification or whatever. I dont get enough from their sounds and this is already for 15 years by now. Roland means pure addiction....
the dynamic of the CL-Hat accent on a real 909 it's amazing, it has such a distinctive groove, makes you wanna dance! Another amazing feature I've noticed on a real 909 is the mixed output, where all the sounds get mixed with some kind of strange (probably cheap) techniques, it really makes a difference over those VST sampled machines.... they sound FLAT! Of course you can try to replicated the 909 mixed output using compressors etc... but it's a lot more complicated. Thanks for sharing!
@RhythmDroid I'm with you RD. Im tired to distorted 303's as well.. It sounds best when it's DRY. Well.. almost dry. Some compression / phraser at right doses might give it even "dryer" sound in some circumstances. =) There was too much hard acid techno at 90's with distorted TB's and BD's. What i LOVE is the oldschool 87-89 Acid House vibe!
HarmonikelektroniK It looks like the 303 has a blue LED mod, which becomes a bit more apparent when his hand is over the machine. The 909 has red lights on over the pattern and step write buttons; they're just hard to see. Also, the 909 looks to be in slave mode, hence no numerical digits on the screen. All in all, I think it's the poor video quality that makes it hard to see...
yea and now you can buy the rave-o-lution used for $500 but a 909 is so difficult to find that sellers can set almost any price. Although the rave-o-lution is the technically more sophesticated machine. (I'd take an Elektron Machinedrum or Monomachine over either though)
One of my fave youtubes!! Right so these 2 are synced up right...just the 2 of them, or an external device? I can half plug a dinsync cable into the 303 dsync in, to get the 303 as master, but obviously its not ideal...anyone know how to change the 303 sync in to a sync out?? any soldering experts, its obviously possible??
Yeah, I agree with you. Most modern drum machines are stupidly frustrating to program, and/or have annoyingly many factory presets to work around. It is as if roland got it right 20 years ago.
i sold my 909 for 909$ and my 808 for 808$ on ebay lol i dont miss either one. I use an Elektron Machinedrum now it's a lot more fun. Every house head on the planet uses 909 and 808 its so overplayed.
...and one day while viciously throwing down on his box; he boldly declared: "Let there be house" and house music was born. Then he spilled some acid in the mix and the rest is history.
jesus i still remember when techno was for the people, at least around here.. now its full of hipsters, artsy losers and architects who think techno and acis is sooooo conceptual... ... we used to techno with new rock boots, now it's all nike and goth wannabes :/
really nice style man, intricate beats without overcrowding them like so many other people do, the timing of everything and the 303 sound amazing too, this sounds foookin beast!

True mastery at work there… Just one pattern over >5 Minutes and he still keeps it alive and vivid all the time, not even one strange transition. Thumbs up, mate 👍
Yeah it takes time! ive been making tunes for 4 /5 years now! im still not the best at it! lol i get frustrated sometimes cos things dont sound right together lol oh and one thing u will always make a good song if something has made u motivated and excited about making music! sadly this aint always the case n you get stumped lol
I started watching RUclips more than 10 years ago in order to get to see people producing music live like this! Glad to see it’s still online as time goes by.
I love these machines as they are... no clone, no modification or whatever. I dont get enough from their sounds and this is already for 15 years by now. Roland means pure addiction....
Why... I watched this again, and again, and again. Thank you so muxh for sharing this...
Haha.. Thanks for your comment. This vid is so old.. but I still have the 909. 303 is sold..
Don't buy those old instruments. Go and buy someting to eat and a present for your wife!
THey are beautifull no wife :)
Best idea. Not.
BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE.....OOOOPPS JUST FELL OUT THE WINDOW..
FANTASTIC KIT!
If you get Behringer RD-9 and TD-3 you get halfway there!! Nothing will ever beat the original machines.
These two machines are natural extensions to your hands. Great job.
love the pattern!
muito bom, cara. derretendo o célebro!
OLD BUT GOLD ! ;-)
@patrickjamesfitzroy awesome timing if they are both turned off! Great work, @aszent awesome track
I wonder how, in the name of what is holy and sacred, a person could possibly dislike this video... let alone 53 people.
togusa75 maybe cause the machines dont seem to be on
plk173 Electricity is so overrated in electronic music.
Could be the low quality. I mean it was 2007, but we're watching this a decade later and usually expect higher than 240p.
Very nice! we want more!!!
"Look son, classical music!"
:)

The bones of electronic music
Beautiful..... Just Beautiful.
素晴らしい!!!!!!!気持ちよかったです。

very nice... indeed...
Everything he does fits the song, only they are not turned on, but I think it's possible to do this sound anyways.
Sooooo gut!
@RhythmDroid

how come neither machine looks like it is on?? I own both and I see no flossing red lights on either
Haha well spotted!

Geiler Beat. Erinnert mich an die Anfänge von ACID mit Phuture etc.
Danke
Oh, that's nice. I'm producing with ableton live, 303 and 909 are are synced to my macbook. It's great to work with hard -and software together.

Just PERFECT.
Finally, someone who DESERVES their gear. Funky, and properly arranged. U play live?
@sacredgeometry true true...but dry 303s don't bother me. It's the effected ones that get old...
Bravo!!!
yessssssssss ALELUJAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ATTE DEEJAY JAHSALEM BOGOTA COLOMBIA
@aszent Dayum! Gotta get me a couple of those little boxes. :)

Hmmm.. I don't know.. Controlling the Drumazon-VST with a Controller (like the BCR2000) is also very nice.

Oldschool is the best

Acccciiiiiiidddd!!!
fuk yeah
Fuck this is fresh. How long did it take you to program that?
niceeeeee :)
the filter on that 303 is so fucking tasty
the 999/888 sound nothing like a 909.... and they have many bugs....
è un vero peccato ke nel 2011siano state dimenticate da quei produttori o finti dj da 4 soldi di oggi.
Cheers man!
cu
FINALLY!! A live TB-303 without buckets of annoying psytrance reverb and delay. Keep it raw, keep it PURE.
nice
...and one day while viciously throwing down on his box; he boldly declared: "Let there be house" and house music was born. Then he spilled some acid in the mix and the rest is history.
Add 808 to 303 + 909, and you got 2020!
best two machines in the world i wish i had those
jesus i still remember when techno was for the people, at least around here.. now its full of hipsters, artsy losers and architects who think techno and acis is sooooo conceptual... ... we used to techno with new rock boots, now it's all nike and goth wannabes :/
Still one of the best 909/303 videos here on youtube, easily blasts all the rd9/td3 wannabes off the stage 👾😅🛸
really nice style man, intricate beats without overcrowding them like so many other people do, the timing of everything and the 303 sound amazing too, this sounds foookin beast!
This is one of the first videos, I watched in RUclips in 2007. I still love it! And the TB-303 loves the TR-909 too. ♥️
Thanks for your Comment. Really long time ago.. Cheers!

Proper ACIIIIIIEEEEED ; )

This time I just used the L/R-Jacks. No Effects or compressor, on both.

Great live! same Groove as the time when I rubbed shoulders with European underground techno festivals called "Technival" in France
