I've seen a lot of people say this plot normalizes abusive - doormat relationships that keep East Asian women in thrall to the historical second class status of women, but I'm starting to think differently.
Look at the outcomes. When she was the doormat obedient housewife, the husband couldn't care less about her and actively despised her. When she was herself, that is, an intelligent modern woman who didn't accept disrespect from ANYone and who solved her own problems as far as possible, the husband became intrigued and eventually fell in love with her.
It seems the message is, Don't be a doormat or your husband and family will walk all over you and look down on you for it. The takeaway for modern young women is that women who are independent and self-respecting are more likely to get and keep their men.
After the Culture Revolution, because of equal labor, the social status of Chinese women has reached the historical highest level ever in China , and even in whole Asia. After the "Reform and Opening", the value of Chinese has greatly been changed, the whole society has become extremely materialistic; generally, respect has become the least important for Chinese men and women for either themselves or others!

If he disliked her for being "dormat" what a man of honor shoukd do? Be honest without humiliate her, thanking her for showing that she cares for the relationship but he doesnt feel the same toward her and that's why he wants to divorce. But neglecting her, being cold, distant and ignoring her just because she was "dormat" isnt okay at all. Big RED FLAG. And regarding her submissveness, a good Master in the BDSM community would appreciate very much her personality.

Also, whatever SHE thought she was doing by being submissive, it was obviously wrong for their relationship. She certainly didn't make him happy that way. He was at best indifferent to her, or bored... at worst he found her annoying. Additionally her behaviour allowed her family to lie about her for years, maligning her character in his eyes. If her goal was to improve his life with her love, she not only didn't succeed; she actually enabled him to be a worse person than he would otherwise have become.
I personally didn't view him as a man of honor, but his relationship with her the first time round certainly did not make him a better person.

Production value for this short drama is pretty high. The acting is all so natural and not the least bit awkward. Storyline is also well thought out with good dialogues which touched me so many times. I love it to the moon and stars. It's so good!!!

女主確是美貌與智慧並重，終於從戀愛腦清醒過來，尋回自己，不再委曲求存，看男主的臉色度日，為渣男而活，女主的強勢出擊改變，用智慧奪回渣父一家所搶的一切，又給渣男不停摑掌，讓他後悔，看得真爽。
男女主顏值相當高，演技特別的好，有劇情又能令人發笑的劇，演員們顏值高的劇，真值得看，推。

I like this version. Well acted, and there is a lot of growth and realization on the ML's part. FL gets strong and realizes she can't lose herself in a relationship. Love the Sis-in-Law! *I think the husband didn't realize the accident was really serious in the beginning. There's a comment later on that the FL was originally very capricious. Not excusing his behaviour, but I'm wondering if he thought she was pretending to be hurt? (In some other versions of this plot, the FL had a history of setting up dramatic situations in order to try and get the ML's attention)

И такие семьи в каждой второй дораме. Лучше уж одной быть, чем в таком браке😢
Там руководят родители, дети не имеют голоса. И одной не получится быть, там забьют до смерти, если дочь не принесет выгоду в семью. Устои такие, что в последствии муж дочери обязан содержать её родителей на высоком материальном уровне. А те вообще не стараются, что либо заработать, тянут деньги с зятя. Если бы такого не было, то родители не насиловали детей выходить замуж по материальному достатку. А так каждый хочет продать свою дочь в богатую семью и пофиг им на чувства детей.

True, always gets me how the stories start off with a young, timid little field mouse of a wife, being forced into a marriage by overbearing greedy family members, who is everyone's wet doormat, then suddenly becomes a famous, in demand, Dr or jewellery designer or whatever, that nobodies ever seen, where and when did they ever get the learning and skills for these professions, that would take years to achieve. Don't understand the thinking of these writers for these plots.

Theres a higher budget version of this called "love after divorce". Would genuinely recommend it. It doesnt play into any of the short drama stereotypes

I actually liked this series. The plot is similar to the miniseries 'love after divorce '... But I like this better. The ML is oh so handsome, and dznt give any justifications for his abusive behaviour due to misunderstanding... The ML's sister is a refreshing addition to the plot who scolds the ML and tells him he deserves to be divorced. Also, I liked the dialogue which was something like... Behaving coldly with your spouse is also domestic violence.... On the whole, I ll probably be watching this again sometime soon... And plz make more shows with the ML. Hez so good-looking, manly and can act well. ❤

As the saying goes, there are people who don't deserve your love or forgiveness.
I am a bit torn on this one, he obviously was an uncaring arsehole during her first life, but he was forced to marry her and she acted like a pathetic doormat with zero dignity, who for some reason, despite being a genius scientist decided to be a stay at home wife and devote her entire time to being a nanny to her husband. She dressed like frumpy nana and didn't seem to brush her hair. Once reborn she is a completely different person, while initially he missed his nanny, I think her standing up for her self to various bully's in her life, cleared up some misunderstandings. She is a competent and beautiful woman now and doesn't take any crap. If she can be a different person in this time line, I guess so can he. Having said this, I do wish she had chosen to stay single, but this is a c drama, the FLs forgive and take back, rapist, murderers and abusers. This MLs cold indifference makes him seem almost a catch. 🤣
The female lead have no self-worth and values in life and self-esteem because if she did she wouldn't get back together with her husband after everything he did to her and put her through and what makes it worst that he didn't care that his wife was dieing in an ambulance on the way to the hospital and the female got a second chance at life to start over to make a better life for herself and she throw it away by getting back together with her husband after know he didn't care that she was dieing on the way to the hospital.

Just give me 2 hours of the sister giving it to him straight and I'm satisfied lol She a real one for that... I'm the same way with my brother and he's the oldest out of us. Doesn't matter if we're blood or not, if you're in the wrong and you know what you're doing is wrong... I'm gonna tell it to you like it is bc you wasn't crying and feeling sorry for yourself when you were doing those things, so don't get all in your feelings now. If you feel hurt, just imagine how she must've been feeling this whole time. Like his sister said, emotional abuse is a form of domestic violence(he was a little physical with her too). Just like emotional cheating is still cheating and probably worse than physically cheating.
Another thing ppl don't realize or understand is that after someone has gone through the process of healing and have moved on, that doesn't mean they have to go back to that person. You can still love or have love for someone... FROM AFAR!

I've seen this basic storyline several times, and I think this is one of the better versions because it does a better job of explaining the ML's initial hatred of the FL and the misunderstandings between them. That being said... the English subtitles are a mess. Sometimes they only stay up a fraction of a second. I had to pause and go back so many times during this! No lie, it was a split second for some of the subtitles, gone before you could read more than one word.
That's true for all types of subtitles and not only in this drama.

this drama doesn't make it obvious, but his grovelling likely happened over a long span of time, right? if i think about how long it logically takes for drugs to be developed, to go for clinical trials, etc. and the cooling off period added as well...?? and then after the divorce... that dude who woke up from the coma also was rehabilitated (walking and whatnot), that probably took a while too.
im glad he grovelled in public, too (i.e. via the media) because his embarrassing her was known by everyone, so his nonsense must be known by everyone too.

At least he nvr abuse, hit, choking her neck and has other woman who stuck in his heart. Their problem is purely misunderstanding. So this kind of man is still worth to gv a second chance but with some struggle first so he can feel the pain how his life without her.

The reborn FL shouldn't have transformed right away. She should quietly signed the divorce just like the ML wanted, and when finalized, changed into a new person. Otherwise, she arouses suspicions from her husband who no longer wants to divorce.
Let's be honest, ML sister was the best character of this drama haha, she was always spot on and even got FL on a date when she knew her brother was a horrible person to be in a relationship with she even dared her husband to treat her that way and she would kill him hahaha, the best! Also, the second ML deserves FL more but we all know he was living in the friendzone and would never be him not even for a second we had the thought it would be him poor guy haha. FL is so pretty, and her smile is so incredible she is adorable and ML has a long way to be a decent person and we can accept them together long after he really becomes a better person. FL's father was the worst, disgusting guy one of the worst villains, against his own daughter, what a horrible being.
I highly recommend this scene to everyone. If I meet the person who wrote this scene I will offer him a good champagne for the incredibly informative work he has done Everything is fluid with emotions and lessons transmitted by each actor in each scene well done guys that's what we call a real scene or better a good film I will never thank you enough since you gave a chance to women who are in the same situation to stand up and say no to certain lack of respect coming from their spouse towards.A good woman deserves respect and who says respect says love afterwards the woman was patient, helpful and loving to deserve the same thing, I hope that other screenwriters will learn from this one because not only does a screenwriter have dignity,but also self-esteem in addition to knowing the value of women and respecting them, it's just magnificent 😘❤️❤️❤️...At least this man wasn't too horrible at all,and his wife was able to stand up to him to show him the firm right of women to make him recognize these duties towards a woman, thank you very much... he deserved all this suffering From now on he will respect his wife...not like these horrible dramas with stupid forgiveness towards horribly demonic men..Congratulations and thank you to the sister for telling the four truths that her brother deserved to hear a very good moral lesson

This was almost a perfect drama. If they could have just let the FL get out of situations without the help of the ML this would have been perfection. But they had to bring in that old trope of the damsel in distress waiting for that white knight.
