What's the point of posting the TX date when it's already in the title of the video? I genuinely don't understand why people do pointless things like that.
Thanks. I often watched the Morning News as they used an extended version at the end! Did have it on VHS but recently sold them all to a tv/radio collector! At least there is a RUclips one!
When C4 was set up in 1982, it was not funded directly from advertising. A subscription was levied on each of the 15 ITV regions to pay for it, and in return, the ITV regions made money by selling C4's airtime. Related to this, one of the regulatory requirements was that ITV and C4 cross-promote each other. C4 began selling its own airtime in 1993, but with a "safety net" guaranteed minimum income from ITV to prevent C4's airtime revenue falling too low. It became evident that this guarantee was not needed, and the government finally removed the need for ITV to pay anything at all towards C4 at the end of 1998, so 31st December 1998 was the final day of any cross-promotion between ITV and C4.
dunebasher1971 Incredibly complicated! They just never seemed to get the broadcasting balance right in the UK, with all due respect. You have had ITV in the absolute doldrums since its heyday in the 80s. It’s just wrong that there are so few viable and SUCCESSFUL alternatives to BBC News. Commercial rivals should be way outrating BBC - as happens in Australia - but the opposite is true in Britain.
@@centralgalaxy Why should commercial TV automatically be better than the BBC? Commercial TV all over the planet makes more crap than it does decent stuff, with the added irritation of ad breaks.
This is very good quality.
Memories !!! Thanks for the upload !
'Wipe Out' (advertised after the news 18:45 ) looks interesting. Don't remember that at all and little about it online.
Sunday 14th August 1988

Can someone remind me why Granada was advertising Channel 4 stuff?
