Thank you for making this video. There is a bit of a learning curve with this pedal, and I couldn't get it to save the way I wanted. You taking the time to explain this is a blessing. Thanks again.
The video is correct, and following it solved the problem for me, but Roland have put out a firmware update for the GR-55 that solves this problem for ALL patches.
Well, thanks so much for this my friend. You have solved some issues I have had for a while now. Bloody exp switch is assigned. Switch it off and BINGO! Thanks again. Now all I need is someone to sell me an OPT-01 board and I'm a happy man again.
I'm trying to do the opposite. When I turn on a sound it won't stay on. I tried doing what you said except with keeping it on but after I hit "write" it's gone. Any advice?
Kudos man for helping folks out stuff like editing and settings Ignore all trolls and haters If you want to play and operate this unit with any proficiency is absolutely essential to understand the unit I am grateful you didn't demo the sounds or your playing ability but instead got right to the core of the purpose of this video I am having trouble saving/writing a customized patch and this video is hopefully going be crucial in the resolve Can't thank you enough for it KEEP THEM COMING!!!!!
Thanks, this was a help. I noticed I have to do this with each individual patch, I'm really surprised there is no global way to do this (or is there??)
Got mine yesterday and this is vety helpful! I'm having a problem with a user patch where my alternate tuning is not being saved. I see in the CRL tab that "CTRL FUNCTION" says "***SYSTEM** and can't change it. Do you know how to solve it?
Thanks very much , just got my GR-55 yesterday so this is very helpful , I will use your vid to adjust my settings very cool man , the manual sucks lol !! you should have written it :) Steve !!
Hi, I'm brand new to this pedal, I have the gk-3 and it doesn't switch to normal guitar when I flip the switch, I subscribe to your channel and yes there's a bit of s learning curve. Thank you for any help you can give me.
There is another "Pedal/GK CTL" option in the SYSTEM page. Any setting made in the system page is global and would override settings made in the MASTER page. Go to System, then PEDAL/GK CTL and make sure the CTL and EXP SW pages are set to "Patch Setting". Then the instructions in the video should work.
I feel there should be a global setting too, but there unfortunately isn't. So you have to make this setting for every patch that you encounter the problem.
Sorry could you help me? Im still having the problem. I turned all the ctrl pedal and expresion switches to off. I checked in the system tab to be in the "patch setting option". I just want to save the PCM tone 1 on and the modeling ON too. But every time I write it with both pcm1 and modeling to on, it only saves me the modeling in the ON position but the PCM1 still remains off. Any ideas? Thanks and sorry for my english!
Ive watched your video about 20 times and still tearing my hair out as settings wont save. Everything was working before I tried finding out why my line out direct from guitar couldnt be switched on my GK£. The GR55 is a nightmare to understand. The manuals and tutorials do not clarify absolute basics so I am working blind. Some of my USER patches are saving correctly, others wont and all I can do is trial and error various settings. Even my interface isnt exactly the same as yours. Pedal assign parameters do not allow me to highlight or change. I darent risk factory reset as I have about 20 user patches that took days to set up. All this because I changed guitars from a Carvin to a PRS that has GKW. Dont know where to go now and the patches that wewre working are just a cacophony of stupid sounds!
Sorry man, it doesn't work. When I try to switch off the CTL and ESswitch they're grey'd out and you can't change them. I had created several patches (a lot of work) and they worked for a while. Today I was editing yet another patch that wouldn't save, then the other patches reverted to Factory and no amounts of editing could restore them. It simply doesn't save. I own every Roland Guitar Synth (going back to 1978) and this is the first malfunction. Back to my VG99 + GR33 for now.
11 years later and this video helped me debug an issue I was having with trying to save a patch. Thanks!
Hey, 11 years later this is still helpful. Thanks for posting this. Nice explanation. Cheers!
Thank you! I couldn't understand what was going on with my GR-55. I thought I had an issue with it. Thank you for your precise explanation!

Something is interfering. Check ALL the controller options for the cause. It's there somewhere!

I went to the system tab in edit mode, chose pedal/GK CTL and turned off the control switch. The video didn't cover that
