Great guide! Your resource.cfg folder should allow you to use mutiple subfolders (I think you can go 4 deep). For instance, I break up my gameplay mods folder into MTS mods, shimrod, etc., so I don't need to read through a bunch of files when looking for a particular one. I merge all my hair and clothes, so I don't make subfolders for those. I used to, though. For instance, I'd have Build or Buy, then Walls or Beds folders. You could definitely make a folder by creator & then subfolders by the type of item. For instance, ATS3 as creator with build/buy/hair/clothes subfolders. ETA: You cannot have subfolders in your library or saved sims folder if you want the packages to show up.
@@whimsy126 I believe there is a way to convert custom worlds but I haven't tried. I forgot to mention in the video that I do install custom worlds in my launcher but I only have a handful of custom worlds installed at the moment.
@@NonRevSims okay I won't mess around with the custom worlds then. I already merged my mods and there is a massive difference in my loading times so thank you again
Thank you, this video was very useful! I have a doubt: for houses that I have already installed, can I do the same procedure or will I have problems in the game? These houses have already been inserted into the save file and Sims live there. Would I cause trouble?
Just started watching the video, I can't wait to get back into the sims 3. Just downloaded it again after a ton of years. Do you recommend any worlds that have all elements of the expansion packs? There's quite a few and I'm leaning on one of the many custom Sunset Valley worlds.
ahhh exciting!!! don't forget to limit the fps and make the game recognize your graphics card if you're installing on a new computer!! for world recommendations I actually just did a world overview video of a Sunset Valley that uses all expansion + stuff packs. another updated SV is by scoopy_loopy on MTS but I haven't looked into this one yet. there's also evansdale county + saffron bay by mysimrealty (one of my favorite custom world builders) these worlds are more realistic family based worlds tho. anything specific you're looking for?
if you still have the sims3pack file located in your downloads section, you can use that file to convert. unfortunately if you don't have a backup of the original sims3pack file (and only have it installed in the launcher) then there's no way to convert them unless you try finding the original creator with download links. you could try using the name of the item in your installed section to see if its still available somewhere online. if not just leave it installed and convert any new cc you download ☺
@@NonRevSims so last year I tried ccmagic ... and it was a disaster. Anyway there is a folder 📂 in the sims 3 folder called dcc or something that literally is the sims3 package files converted to .package files. When I pur those in cc magic they were shown to be my Sims3 launcher files . It looks like they get converted to package files. So o was wondering if we can use those.
@@2GalyGirl ah I understand! i think you mean the dcbackup folders. i'm not exactly sure if those would work in your mods folder because I've never tried it. but if there is a cc item installed in your launcher that you can easily redownload maybe try finding it in the dcbackup folder and then moving that .package file to your mods folder and then uninstall from your launcher. make sure it's an item you can easily find to reinstall tho just in case this doesn't work. (i've never tried it before so not sure if it will work)
Thanks for this! My game beyond all the mods and whatnot still runs a bit choppy and I think I know why now so imma try and clear out all of the .sims3packs and see if there's a noticeable difference. I went crazy and redid my entire CC folder converting all of the CC of objects and hair for my game to still run so slow! For the longest time, I thought you can't convert lots from .sims3packs to .package but I guess not! The only .sims3packs I use mainly are lots and sims. But that's about to change! I may try it on a different user account tho before I do it on my actual user I play on just in case I break my game 😓 I have a lot of saves, but also I want to get rid of some awful CC so this tut will def help me. Tysm :)
Will this work for a mac computer. I don't use my windows computer anymore and most of my sims stuff is on that computer, but I started having to use a mac and now I want to play the sims again, but don't know if any of this stuff will work on it. I don't want to crash my computer or cause issues with it. I just want to play the sims and build a restaurant for a class project. (Still looking for items to build with, sinks, stoves, wal ins, booth's and so on. Haven't found any though, not for sims 3 at least.)
it should work the same! if that folder contains the 'saves, downloads, dccache' folders then you're good to go! try out the test mods that are included and if they don't work let me know!
