    52 secs into the video and I'm tearing up. You guys are literally an answered prayer. It has been on my heart for so long to become more financially literate and develop better spending (and saving) habits. And here you guys are!!--A CHRISTIAN married couple who are sharing how to be good stewards of the money that God has blessed us with. Thanks for being open and willing to share your decision making processes. May God bless you and your family.

      ICANDOBETTER I just came across your comment 2 years later. I hope your finances are where you want them right now. I know the feeling of wanting to be a good steward over your money and be debt free.

    Great advice. Truth though is, if you're married, you have to have a willing spouse. All the tips in the world won't change your finances until that spouse changes their attitude & gets involved. Won't work if 1 of you is budgeting, cutting back & being careful while the other feels they work & therefore they deserve to buy as they please.

      Nazneen so true. I keep telling my husband that we need to be mindful and start putting money to the side but he wants no part in it and we end up in the 100 or less each paycheck. every time it's brought up he always says well if we need money he knows how to get it. I don't understand why he wants to rely on other people in case of an emergency and this habit is not good especially since we have 2 kids is so stressful especially being a 1 income house hold

      You can get yourself out of debt if you don't share your finances. I think most people in my country have seperate economies, at least to a some degree.

      Naz, very true. Even if the spouse is sorta involved it doesn’t work - the momentum is not there.

    This is such a great video. I've been feeling the same way about being the wife that taking all the responsibility of the budget and I feel the pressure or the bad guy. But yesterday I told my husband I want to start Dave Ramsey's program. And I was happy that he is open to working together. And I do feel talking and working together on budgeting will resolve some tension that comes up whenever discussing money.

    I made pretty much all the same mistakes. I can't deal with too many bank accounts (we have 6) but I definitely want to start incorporating the money envelopes!!! Those misc items like oil change, car reg, car inspection kept throwing me off !!!! I have been trying to get in my budget groove for the last 4 months and boy oh boy is it a tough road!! Loved this video and can't wait to get to where you two are!!!

    Loving your videos and the wealth of great information provided. Just discovered your site this week when infusing new fire into my financial goals. Budgeting is something I take seriously and have created an annual budget consistently for many years before the current year ends. Update and analyze it daily/weekly to always be aware of my financial position. Even with that, this video gave me some great takeaways to apply. Always refining my process so THANK YOU for breathing fresh perspective and insight.

    Just found your channel! So excited! My husband and I are on our debt free journey. This is our 5th month doing a budget. I am just getting into couponing and it has cut our food budget from $600 to $400. I am having a hard time with stock up purchases from places like Sams Club and Costco or if I have lots of coupons for something we eat all of the time. It throws my grocery budget off. Any Suggestions??

      Deedra Boodram Thanks for joining us! You are doing great!!! A $200 savings is awesome. Believe it or not, we are not big fans of warehouse stores. The prices are just not that great. It appears to be great because you are buying in bulk. I personally love Aldi, Target and Walmart. I have lots of tips and tricks over on my other RUclips channel Double Saving Divas . Check it out when you get time. We may do a video on your quetion as well. Thanks for watching. -Tai

    Great information as usual. I have a good running account of my monthly bills but I fall short in managing the money that I have left. The envelope system sounds like a good way to put funds aside for the next week's gas and grocery allowance. I do swipe that debt card way too much.

    • @HisandHerMoney
      @HisandHerMoney  9 лет назад

      Lisa Greene If you have any debt, any extra money left after you pay your bills should go to all debt. If not, you should sit down with a professional and discussing saving/investment options. The envelope system is a great way to reduce unnecessary spending. Thanks for watching.

    Great tips as usual.! I do need extra help. I would love a video and/or blog post on baby budgeting. We're expecting early summer but we need to get on it now.!!! Lol. My sister just came up with a weekly money challenge that I'll run by Hubz tonight (week 1 = $5 deposit, week 52 = $260 deposit, giving a total of $6,890 or even the $2 challenge yielding $2,756). However, that's only for savings so the budget is still missing. This is our 1st child so we're trying to get it right before we become official parents. I know it's difficult because babies usually have unexpected expenses, but it would be nice to have youz input. Thanks.!!

    Thanks so much for your video guys, they have helped me immensely. I have a quick question....as far as cash goes, when you say you come together at the end of the day and bring receipts and log transactions, does this include cash ones? Or it is kind of when its spent, its spent and if its not enough then you track it individually to see what the problem is?

    • @HisandHerMoney
      @HisandHerMoney  8 лет назад +1

      +datgurldesi We don't track all of our cash items like our personal allowance. However, if we decide one month to pay for our groceries in cash, we do like to log it just so we can compare from month to month. We definitely log all debit/credit card transactions. Thanks so much for watching!

    When we are building our emergency fund and we have to pay off debt, should we put away money even though we could of used that money we put away towards our emergency to put towards the debt?

    • @HisandHerMoney
      @HisandHerMoney  8 лет назад +1

      +Melohhdee We recommend having a starter emergency fund while paying off debt. Dave Ramsey recommends at least $1,000. We don't have a problem with that amount. However, some people feel comfortable with a little more.Having $1500- $2000 set aside is ok to. Hope this helps!

    Hey guys...My husband and I just got married 2 years ago...2nd marriage and we are older we been single for 10 years plus so we have our own bank accounts. We did open a joint house account...we added up all the bills. he put in half and so do I...we don't used that account for nothing but Mortgage... light gas... water cable cell phone ..food..we don't even carry the card with us unless we are doing the monthly shopping..so why do we have to go over the budget more then once a month? I love you guys just signed up for mystery shopper so I can knock out my mortgage.. btw...no car note will need a car in couple of years but will pay cash even if it means the car is a few years old
