    Not a bad looking car with the white on black paint and trim scheme, we know of one our friends that has one of these as a mobility car and it's not let her down.
    A excellent review as always Sir.

      Yes, probably very popular on Motability, I would imagine. I would prefer different trim, but perhaps that is just me....

    One of the official cars of doing 40mph regardless of the speed limit, leaving your indicator on, and not bothering with oil changes since the pdi. An utterly soulless box.

    I've always had a Renault interest since my 16TS days which I loved, then a 12TS which was pretty dreadful. After the demise of the 20/30 they went into a very mediocre period for 2 decades or so, and really only after the last 10 years are they finding their feet.
    I agree with you Joseph about the blacked out package, particularly the wheels which I've never liked on cars ..you need a contrast between the dirty rubber tyre and the wheel, with black wheels its all one dirty dark mess.
    Also I'm afraid not liking the deformable upholstery between the drivers binnacle and the steering wheel ...not really good enough.
    Wondering how they can call it Rive Gauche unless they struck a deal with YSL.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад

      They can probably call it a Rive Gauche just by referring to the left bank of the Seine in Paris, I think. The Renault 16 is a car I would very much like to try, seems very advanced for the time. I would definitely like to have a car without this colour scheme, it's not really may, but you can get them. So many trim levels and engines!

    In my opinion this is a very underrated car - I have the RS-Line version. Not much else with this degree of comfort, luxury and economy for the price which is pretty low. I think it looks great in silver grey with a black gloss roof and it is pretty quick off the mark. I upgraded from the non-hybrid (got 4 grand equity!, (with low mileage almost new cars in massive demand) and with that got top of range hybrid for less than £300 p.m on two years interest free PCP. My biggest criticisms are you can't have less jolting 17" wheels in top spec and the engine can suddenly go into a noisy ridiculously low gear up moderate hills. OK for me in Essex but wouldn't fancy it in the Lake District. Also have taken away blind spot monitoring which is one of the new safety gimmicks that really works and can save an accident. Anyway, very accurate review, thank you.

      I saw this car again only yesterday as I came to the owners' house for a visit. Sadly, it isn't quite as pristine as it was, as it hit a deer about a week ago, which is going to require a new front bumper skin, but it remains a very comfortable and well equipped car. I have been talking on the channel about the insanely high price of secondhand cars since about May 2021 for some time, and you are right that trade ins can sometimes be worth even more than the brand new cars, which is completely ludicrous. Thank you for watching and commenting!

  • @vrchacho
    @vrchacho Год назад

    I also got the same hybrid last year, but it's a RS-Line trim with all the extras.
    Quite happy with it, but there's many cars that do better in certain aspects, so it's more of a niche.
    The 360 camera, break-mode driving (a.k.a. one pedal driving), large infotaiment display, blind-spot assist, distance to front car are some of my favorites about this car.
    The economy is probably not as impressive as someone might expect if they hear full-hybrid.
    The plug-in is probably much better in this regard.
    But it's still quite decent, on long trips it's comparable to a diesel, in the city it's closer to the consumption of a smaller car with a petrol engine.
    The driving is not exciting, but it's very, very easy and comfortable.
    I think it's one of the cheaper cars in the segment with this amount of assistances and tech you get in the highest trim level.
    And in my case, my girlfriend is not very experienced in driving and this car is perfect for her to do her errands.
    The highest horsepower petrol engine is worth considering, especially if you prefer manual, it's a good competition to this version.
    I honestly think they're quite similar in both consumption and performance, but the hybrid does it while offering the "one-pedal" driving experience. It's quite pleasant for city driving.
    Lastly, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this car holds up after some more serious mileage. But I have high hopes for a 4 cylinder, no-turbo engine compared to most 3-cylinder cars offered by the competition currently.

      Thank you very much indeed for watching! This video was not particularly popular when it was released, and I only really did it because I was in the area reviewing two MG6s anyway as I was offered it by an old friend, but it seems to be rising in views at the moment, and for that I am very grateful. I would prefer that 1.3 Turbo with a manual gearbox, since, as you say, it would realistically get fuel economy not particularly worse than this E-Tech Hybrid, and is a lot cheaper to buy up front, but this is very easy to drive indeed.

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting I have the RS-Line of this car. I get 60mpg+ on a long mixed run dropping off in winter. Averaging about 58mpg long term. But it is the short trips to the supermarket and around town where where you will leave your 1.0 turbo petrol for dead. That might be down to say 35 mpg on a short run from cold whereas the hybrid is often almost all EV so zero.

    • @dcornwell7130

      Out of interest - which ones and which bits are better? I have same version as you and am also quite happy but always researching the next one! As always there will always be something better in a different model but can any do as much as what you personally want? That's always the rub!

    How is possible for a £28k car not to have heated seats?… I checked the Renault website and discovered they consider it a positive, so much so that on the specs page under included equipment they inform us of the “ Non-heated front seats” … unbelievable! Who would fall for that? Front seats are Non-heated when they are turned off. Keep a look out for the upgraded Non-adjustable drivers seat and rigid fixed steering wheel…

      Not sure why Renault have decided to do that on this special edition Captur, even my 2003 Rover 45 V6 has heated seats! Thank you for watching, and commenting Christopher.

    I actually had a look at a Captur the last time I was at a Renault dealership. I wasn't a fan of the first generation but I think that Renault have done a good job of the exterior styling on the new car and am even better job of the interior.
    I share your thoughts on the black exterior trim and the benefits of retaining physical controls for functions like the heating and ventilation.
    I also like the fact that there are still some 4 cylinder petrol engines offered rather than being exclusively three cylinder like some cars now are in this class.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад +1

      Yes, a vast range of engines. Something like the 1.3 with a manual gearbox would be my preference. The first generation Captur was a massive seller, but ultimately quite flawed. There were many better options in the class. This does seem a lot better, but it is all down to personal taste.

    • @markonmotoring

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Yes I agree a 1.3 manual would be my choice too in one of the higher trim levels. I've seen some really nice spec cars around a year old at a reasonably competitive price for the segment and Renault offer a four year warranty on new cars. Not as good as that of MG and Kia but longer than VW who only offer three years.

    My neighbour has the identical Captur, colour and all, which he traded in a 3 year old Captur diesel for.
    This Renault Captur has a lovely interior and a great driving position. Not really sure about the great big touchscreen sort of stuck onto the front of the dash. It looks like it is obscuring items behind it.
    Still a nice car then .

      Yes, it was comfortable to drive, and the controls are quite logical for a current car. The touchscreen does look like an afterthought, but this is the case for many current models. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    My mother in law drives a 2015 version with a powerplant that the Mayor of London would disapprove of. It's been a reliable servant and very good for my father in law's mobility issues but things have certainly developed between hers and this facelifted higher spec model

      Thank you for your self-censorship, sir! Yes, certainly good for people with mobility issues, I drove a 0.9 petrol version of the previous generation in 2017 in the pre-RUclips days. One thing I didn't like in that was the rear visibility, which is much better in this due to the reversing camera and sensors.
