I really like King George VI a lot. He was quite handsome and he overcame his stutter to become King. He was reluctant to be King but did his job with dignity and courage. What a strong man he was.

During the blitz of London, one of the King's advisers suggested to the Queen that the children (Elizabeth & Margaret) be sent to Canada until the blitz (or perhaps the war) was over.
She replied: "They cannot leave without *me,* and *I* could not leave without the *King,* and the King will never leave."
The princesses *were* sent away from London (to Windsor Castle, I believe), but the Queen's response was inspiring.

I was thinking that too. Her daughter, Queen Elizabeth 2, looks like her, but is somehow different, not stern exactly like Princess Anne, but she radiates command, even though she's a tiny woman. When she sits on a horse, you think that's how Wellington (or Washington) must have come across. The Queen Mother was exactly that, a supportive consort, while her daughter was born to rule and it shows.
