  • While brush cutting this fence line I hit a stump that killed my machine. I didn't realize what had happened until I drove my other machine all the way over to help out. It was a blown fuse. But watch entire video to see what happened. Always check your fuses!

    That rotary cutter does the job.

    WHoa - those machines ain't cheap, especially the Vermeers, completely understand why you'd want a backup, but that's a lot of overhead, it's awesome you are able to do that. I'm guessing it's a older.used machine you have as a back up maybe?

      You are correct! They are not cheap but worth it. I buy 2 at a time or trade in both at same time. I keep the hours the same on both. Everything I do is with these machines so can't afford any downtime!

    Always good to have a back up 💪

    Reminder for me . Check all fuses before calling out Vermeer dealer at $495 for the call out plus the $2 fuse. Lol. John I have done that before on a tracked stump grinder that we shut off and couldn't get restarted and I ended up calling the dealer and they sent out their mobile mechanic and it was a $2 fuse in less than 5 minutes and mechanic said didn't they say too check all of the fuses...

      It's not cheap to have them look at these machines. Highly recommend getting the additional 2 year warranty if buying new!

    What is your camera set up for taking these videos? A tripod sometimes, and a mount on the machine? Go pro, phone, or different dslr camera? Thanks!

      I use my 2wheel hand truck as tripod with clamshell/Gopro combo. The hand truck is my trailer all the time so it gives me a solid pipe to attach clamshell. Also nice because it keeps camera up higher. You'll see it some of my videos!

    Awesome scenery! As you trade machines, have you stayed with the 925 w/Kubota 40hp, gas engine? With all the diesel issues, that Kubota gas engine is a good option. Thanks for posting videos, you're a brute!

    OVERHEATED! Use a blower to clear leaves off radiator. Safety feature on Vermeer to prevent damage, In dry enough condition, when mulching, I have to clean every 10 minutes. Too many fine, light particles in the air when mulching. **IF not the fuse!

    • @SchottServices
      @SchottServices  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. I have to blow out radiator every 10-15 minutes when brush cutting. But this time it did short the fuse because of the wire getting pinched.
      Are you running a diesel or gas with your brush cutter? Curious if diesel overheats

      @@SchottServices Diesel. This happened to me when it was brand new. Scared me to death🙂 When I learned what happened, I decided to keep the blower with me whenever I used my mower.

      @@Aaron71304 that's good to know. I often thought the diesel would perform better than the gas. Is it the 40hp diesel or smaller diesel? I think maybe 25 or 35

      @@SchottServices 40 horse kubota derated to 24.8. Not as snappy as the gas I’ve heard. As soon as it’s out of warranty I will probably take restrictors off. This will make it run more efficiently at all rpm’s whereas now they advise me to only run it at 90-100%. At that point, research tells me that I could adjust the pump settings to really crank up the performance but if nothing else, it should run correctly as designed at all rpm's. The manual that came with it actually say 40hp Kubota.
      Can't stand government regs. It blows a little black and runs on the warm side. Apparently when I deregulate it, Less fuel, less smoke, and less heat at lower RPMs.

      I've had it for 15 years. I've tried finding a replacement for it but no other manufacturers make a stump grinder like this
