BTW, are you using the 3c mouthpiece?

Hi Scott, the 3C is too bright for my taste. I'm using a Wedge 665 FLD deep cup mouthpiece. I believe it's the deepest they make. In addition, I have a weighted brass sleeve (also made by Wedge) to give it more mass and more mellow of a tone.
