- In this epic Total War Warhammer 2 custom scenario on Total War Warhammer 2, its EAST vs. WEST as the hemispheres of the Warhammer world square off in a 4v4 Subcommanders battle with the Dark Elves, Skaven, Lizardmen, and Tomb Kings trading blows with Chaos, Norsca, the Greenskins, and the Dwarfs in a crazy match with monsters and mortals!
you should redo this when kislev, chaos dwarfs and ogre kingdoms drop their own album
These subcommander battles are so much more entertaining than a lot of the genuinely competent matches, just because there's so very much going on when players who aren't as good as that play in a hugely complicated multi-part match. Everywhere you look there's something going completely right or completely wrong. This, and the matches where one or more player takes a completely unorthodox armies, are much more fun than the relatively-generic battles of unit efficiency that high-skill players playing safe constantly generate.
More happening= usually more fun. Also yeah, less experienced players can contend in these ones. While if you watch 1v1, and someone brings a way worse army or just less experienced, he will get stomped and thats no fun to watch.
That and I kinda grew a bit tired of 1v1, seeing similar builds and matchups. FFA are good, subcommanders are great, SFO is also good because of the changes.
But 1v1, even by the most professional players, seems a bit boring compared to these nowadays for me.
Dont get me wrong, thats not their fault, and I could never play on their level. Its just how it is. 4-8 ppl making all kinds of crazyness is more fun than the sterile and expected builds of the highest level of 1v1. (Not that its always boring, of course its not. And the meta doesnt change often, so again, its not their fault. They in it for the win usually, cant expect them to bring A race against B which underperforms compared to C race.)

I was the chaos player (rat smacker). I was overly aggressive, we couldn't see the countermeasures (dark elf cav and warp grinders) until I rounded the hill. The second time I went forward, there was an opening, the the target pulled back behind sepulchral stalkers. It was a mistake which I realised during the game, so I chilled for a bit and then attacked (which was still over-aggressive.) I couldn't push through to the skaven guns, I would've been collapsed on, Warp grindered, and rekt. It was still fun though, I had a good time sending Arhcaon to his death.

kieronamuos Archaon is such a beast now, and he’s definitely one of my top three favorite LLs in the game. I remember doing a battle before Piercing Bolts got nerfed, where Archaon got surrounded by Grail Knights, so I pulled a Hail Mary and dropped a Bolts on his head, taking everyone with him to a fiery grave.
Maybe next time sending in a single Jav Cav to scout ahead and maybe chill in the backside of the enemy army outside of their archer rage while dodging their artillery shells would be better. Then you know what is up there, you can harass when there is an oppurtunity, you keep the Shock Cav in reserves and losing a Jav Cav ain't the end of the world compared to the other Units.
When the Skaven, the classic "sacrifice everything if it means victory" faction, have the lowest casualty rate in the match....
Quasar "sacrifice everything" includes allied units. Use filthy dead bone things and dark elf things and cold lizard things to stop enemy. Then shoot shoot for victory!

I kept my eye on him and he and his scar-vets were chasing archeon around until gor-rok got buldozed by soulcrusher, quite sad, gor-rok is one of my favorite lords

I was pissed that the High Elves weren’t in this fight. This would have been awesome seeing dragon princes riding down everything.

The lizards and the tomb Kings both got ruined, while the Skaven and Druchii had survivors. Fitting, the two most treacherous factions sending their 'allies' to their deaths.
I love these ambitious collaborations. Can we please get a 3v3 End Times fight with the special campaign units?

I like to think that this was an allience of Chaos and Greenskins so powerful that it forced the lizardmen and the skaven to put their differences apart and ally, taking Malekith and Khalida with them. And the Dwarfs are actually Chaos Dwarfs.

In Vortex campaign Khalida has one of the westest (is that a word?) starting positions.
I think it should be westernmost
0:47 Northwest is exiles of nehek, but in vortex khalida is southwest, so still east vs. west *shrug*
for the record, I was in the call as this was being set up. It was decided they would go off of Mortal Empires.

This match kinda feels like what total war warhammer should be. From a scale perspective it really feels like a warzone and how it should melt your computer. Awesome to watch, got some pelennor fields vibes from those mammoths and the open field.

Chaos got utterly dumped on and some of the micro was painful to watch like the Irondrakes but apart from that glorious video. I love these type of videos, keep the ball rolling my dude.

Have you thought about doing some Subcommander Civil Wars?
It is probably a bit hard though getting 6+ players to choose the same army, but I think it would make an interesting watch.

Mammoths and constructs are cool and all, but I was hoping for a battle between the OG factions of each game. Still awesome though, so keep up the great work!

After the Greenies get buffed with the new DLC coming, should do an east/west rematch. Maybe it's just me, but I always felt the "west" (Skaven, Helves, Delves, Tkings, etc., Any of the new armies) have an upper hand over the races of WH1 still.
In the Vortex campaign, which is what Warhammer 2 is based around, Khalida is on the west side, so, get owned.
What kinds of horrible things had to happen to the world that Lizardmen and Skaven are not butchering each other on sight, and Dark elves and Tomb Kings will walk beside that rabble?

Great battle and all but how was that subcommanders? Everybody brought everything.
every player brings 2-4 fodder infantry units so the armies actually look like armies and so there are units to kill. its lame when a player is only monsters or only range and only brings like 50-100 models. makes the armies look tiny, less things to kill, less fun overall. Every army had a clear theme and focus, none of these are legitimate army builds that would function well alone. Dwarfs and Skaven were range and technology, Norsca and Chaos were cav and monster focused, Greenskins and Lizardmen were infantry, Dark Elves were cav and flyers, Tomb Kings were constructs. Thats the spirit of Subcommanders. TK and DE might have brought a few too many infantry tho

Hey Indie, LOVE subcommanders. Great fight too and I enjoyed watching it but I think you can take it a bit slower and show us more of the big picture stuff in-between the cool shots and the moment to moment. I feel like you could have pulled out either a great 40-50 minute video here or an okay one at 20 minutes and it's a bit of a shame you went with the second.
At least that's just my opinion.

I know good amount about warhammer lore but I've yet to play totalwar warhammer 2 and as a result I'm curious if you play as Wulfric the wanderer can you become the new everchosen if you defeat Archaon?..

Nice fight, but IMO it was a foregone conclusion that Westside would win, they had over 3100 troops while Eastside only had about 2000 troops and was Elite heavy and had to go in, while the side with the most troops just waited for them to come in. You can make the argument that numbers don't make as much of a difference here, but with magic, good tactics, and use of abilities and even the most elite of units that could trade easily in a vacuum would lose handily to lesser troop equivalents, and if you're outnumbered, there's really not a whole lot of maneuvering you can do to change the fact that you're surrounded and possibly outgunned.
Khalida is technically a West faction in Vortex? because she's off the southwest coast of Lustria, its only in ME that she's east. It may be a bit of a stretch but its something.

I am glad you admitted cav has lost its purpose in total warhammer. Invest money in one light unit to chase routers and that’s it. So sad, I blame partly the battle engine.
thats not what I said at all lol. 3v3 subcommanders battles have literally ZERO bearing on the balance or lack thereof of cavalry in total War Warhammer. Cav and mobility is a very important element of high level/competitive multiplayer for Warhammer 2
@@milkandcookiesTW Yeah sorry but I almost never see expensive heavy cavalry used worth it's money unless the opponent is incompetent or simply makes a mistake. I think there are just about any other units than heavy cav that can get your monies worth. Sorry for misunderstanding what you said big boy ;). How do subcommander battles work differently than normal, is money still a large factor or can you pretty much recruit whatever you want?

I get the Doomwheel got to included with the Skaven force because it has a ranged attack, but why were the Doom-Flayers allowed?
for the same reason Chaos had Forsaken and Shaggoths and Chaos Knights, Norsca had Berserkers, and Lizardmen had a Stegadon.
I wasnt just range, I was high tech stuff. But each army had a couple units to round out their builds and get better variety on the field
@@milkandcookiesTW It just seemed weird because just based on artillery and weapons teams, the Skaven have such a wide variety to pick from. Compared to say, Cavalry picks for Chaos.
Srsly what was that chaos guy thinking? Marching full speed across the map, just to uncover his ambush way to early, marching back over the cliff all the way around again. Taking unnecessary damage and giving the enemy time to reform lines aswell as fatiguing his army. Chaos knights where very tired before their first contact with enemy, you only had one job....
Skaven theme was unclear. If it was tech, plageclaw catapults don't work. (Just wood man)
