I listened to that intro snippet on the actual song like a 100 times just now. It sounds like matt plays 6 eighth notes on the bass drum then plays the rest of the fill. I'm like 99.9% sure it's 6. haha but this is a great video. Cheers and keep up the great work! :D
Wow! Great lesson :) I requested the monkeys a while back and I'm very glad you decided to teach this. It had me scratching my head for a while. Keep the arctic monkeys stuff coming !
Yeah, most electronic kits can be set up anyway you like. I think the expensive Roland kits have frames that make it a bit tricky but just ask before purchasing to double check. Good luck! Rob
Good vids. Very well put together even with the mistakes which shows that you do make them aswell. Did play drums years ago, & trying to work out the beats, & this would of been great to have then as it is now. Keep up the brilliant work.
Not necessarily, leading with the left hand is an unnatural sticking, most drummers are right handed. Sure, if you're left handed then it makes sense but for the majority of drummers, using the right hand as the leading hand feels more comfortable. This is also why Matt plays it this way. Try for it for yourself and see which way feels more comfortable for you. By the way, if you can play both ways comfortably then that is a GOOD thing. Don't get me wrong. Have fun :)
@AndywinXp That's what I thought too but don't watch the video to work out the tom order, listen to the song itself. I had to isolate the drums to hear clearly whether the tom tones went up in pitch or down and they went up. It is floor tom first and then high tom. Thanks for your observation though, very keen! :)
@AndywinXp Cheers mate! Hmmm, I can't explain the live thing. All I know is that the toms move up in pitch on the actual recording. We both know though that at the end of the day the tom order isn't what's important...it's the groove baby! :)
@DrumsTheWord Well that's the only thing that sounds wrong to me, (also by looking live performances I still think you switched the toms), but the rest is perfect, even the bass drum; man, almost EVERYONE gets that bass drum wrong :P Awesome video, keep on rocking :)
I'm left-handed and playing as a right-handed is really hard for me... Can these electronic drum kits be adapted so you can put like the hi-hat and snare drum on the other side, inverting the order of the drum kit? I've been thinking in it, and I really don't know because of the wires... Can you provide me an answer?
@mutedmathamatician well i feel like an idiot now. I saw in the intro you played 8 instead of 6 so i assumed you just thought it was 8. Then i watched the rest and realized you knew it was 6. lol
Check out a LOAD of other Arctic Monkey video drum lessons here if you like...ruclips.net/video/ehoo3GK7qRQ/видео.html
The intro sounded way harder. Seeing you play it and hearing your explanation really made it much easier.
I'm glad I could hep you!
John lennon?
Such a detailed explanation, awesome vid mate

I did a drum cover from this music but it's not all the same of your drum lesson, but it's good too, I've posted on my channel only 13 years old XD
you should do a fluorescent adolescent lesson :))
What snare is that?
You look like John Lennon
@lemony2j Nope, sorry :)
Awebo ni te entiendo nada pero awebo xd
Estaría padre que pusieran subtitulos
@SuperNoble14 Sorry but there are no prizes ;)
10:27
Teddy pickers :')
JHON LENNON...!!!
John Lennon teaching me an Arctic Monkeys song
eres john lennon
Really? Because I'm right-handed, but I feel more comfortable leading with the left. :S
12 minutes to play only the intro? Is that serious?
It's a drum lesson, Tiago. It's not a play through...it requires explanation and words.
You kind of remind me of Edward Norton
@872andy872 Hehe, this actually made me laugh :)
FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!
If John lennon and noel Gallagher had a child
@mutedmathamatician well i feel like an idiot now. I saw in the intro you played 8 instead of 6 so i assumed you just thought it was 8. Then i watched the rest and realized you knew it was 6. lol
Teddy Pickers?
Shiok
I'm sure those dislikes came from Matt Helders and his girlfriend.
You sound like Jonathan Woss, sorry, Ross.
last
teddy pickers...
this guy always looks high
@DrumsTheWord He is an audience , not a performer...lol
I want to see your ears ;D

You talk too much mate
This is a drum lesson, mate. Not a drum solo.
