If you want to read Banana Yoshimoto, I recommend 'Goodbye Tsugumi'! It's my favourite of her works. I really try to ignore when people dub books as "red flags," what matters is how you interpret the stories and messages. Fiction would be boring if it didn't make us think much, right? You can be critical and enjoy at the same time :) Love your TBR! It'd be interesting to hear what books you have read ^^
I looooooove the way you categorise your books into those wonderful mini TBR piles. Also loved how sometimes the books misbehaved behind you. Hahaha. Summer so has not happened in the UK. I always say I would love it to be perpetual autumn, this year I’ve decided I need a summer to make autumn all the more exciting and needed.
i'm soo excited for the connected books series. i've read swimming in the dark and then giovanni's room bc of it and LOVED both i'm so happy to see someone talk about it !! been looking for more books that share that.
Always so nice to find a booktube channel with so many similar books to my own TBR! By my count it's about 25+ of the same titles haha. If you enjoy surrealism, highly recommend picking up the copy of Hard-Boiled Wonderland you already have -- it was my favorite Murakami before Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Very excited for his next fiction coming out this year :) This is making me think it would be nice to document my own bookshelves on youtube lol
i highly encourage you to film one ! i want to make another one same time next year to see if i have progress ⭐ im so excited to pick those murakamis i'm just trying to finish 1q84, i have been reading it since april haha
@@taurossstudio I really enjoyed 1Q84, it was actually the first Murakami I ever picked up (and what a daunting task that was lol). For a few years, I kept coming back to it because I felt like there was so much of it to digest in one sitting. Genuinely recommend looking up playlists for this book -- an interesting intertextual exercise to see if the movements of music inspire the same emotions in you as reading those particular scenes in the book! Japanese authors + jazz music has such a fascinating conversation, and how much of it has influenced some of their most famous authors post-Showa period
perfect place to learn about more japanese fiction!! my favourite sub-genre right now. and the "everyone is reading this" comment about outline... i just finished it haha
@@taurossstudio i enjoyed it! there’s a basic plot but the narrative very much focuses on the people within it, their lives, what they think and feel about their lives, etc. it’s a book of conversations really and there’s some really beautiful writing throughout! hope this helps 🌞 looking forward to more videos ☺️
this was so relaxing to watch and I love the selection of books! just a quick tip: if you want to compare Fitzgerald and Sagan, you should probably add Tender is the Night to your tbr because it has the same "languid summer in France, affairs, melancholy" vibes as Bonjour Tristesse :)
omg this is an instant subscribe because we have the same tbr and/or read list. some of the books from your tbr are my favorite 5 star reads. personally i love east asian literature. right now i'm reading pachinko!!
My new favourite book channel can’t wait for you to upload more💜 You’re so real for the tbr pile I put myself on a book buying ban until I finish mine and Pachinko is also on my tbr!! it’s been sitting on my shelf staring at me for ages begging to be picked up😩 ps. Love the gengar plushie 🤭
Good to see you again! Please read Bonjour Tristesse asap - it is one of my FAVORITE books I’ve read this year! Would love to hear your thoughts on it 🎉
Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World is my favorite Murakami book, I highly recommend it!!! No Longer Human is awesome, The Setting Sun less so. Never Let Me go is just straight-up awful.
i might try to make a video in the future reading all the dazai i own ⭐️ ahhh now im curious to read hardboiled wonderland and the end of the world, im so intrigued because of the title
ahh love your tatami rug!!!! i used to have one just like it, nostalgia kicking in... passion of new eve is def surrealist, and i had no idea valerie and her week of wonders was originally a book, i've just heard of the movie which is meant to be really good ~
I am sorry, i know this is my fourth comment, i probably shouldn't talk so much but i NEED to tell you this. The divine comedy is an Absolute masterpiece. But a good translation is necessary to do the book justice. Especially Cantica 1: Inferno. The best translation i have found so far is the Hollander et al. Translation. Hope you enjoy the book as much as i did❤
don’t ever apologise for commenting, i am so glad you’re still here ! i am so close to burning my copy i swear if i try again for the fifth time and i dont get it i might just call it quits cos maybe im just too dumb for it
@@taurossstudio Aww please don't quit. I understand you. I had immense difficulty reading it too but in the end it's worth it. The immaculate philosophy and the rich literature is worth taking some pain for. I believe you will be able to read it. And if it's getting too difficult- take your time, take ample breaks. As many as you need. The most important part is enjoying it. It's not the end of the book you need to reach it is the journey of reading it that you need to enjoy. Take your time and have fun. ❤️❤️❤️ Sending you the love and courage you need to read this book. It's difficult but trust me it's worth it. Dante is love 💕
absolutely charmed by this video and idea! love the nod to Popeye Mag ;0 love the Hemingways that you have! happened upon them not too long ago and i love the minamalist designs. might have to pick them up bc of you!!!
Was wondering if you've read Summer Crossing by Truman Capote. It's got this certain feeling about it, very elusive. I would describe the feeling as something you would sense drinking lemonade on a hot summer day in july sitting under a tree romanticizing the sunlight craving through the leaves like blade. The book pours itself into your memory like rain. You may not give it five stars maybe not even three but it will find a special place in your heart❤ Btw you have such great taste in books!✨✨🎆
Hey Ross , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
