some people (like this person) really do need to just go to a therapist but others (like the first person in this episode) need other people to tell them whats up to really understand their issue. This show helps a lot of people, especially in problems of racism or discrimination or not being treated fairly in general. But some issues are deeply psychological like this one and DO need a therapist to get fixed.

Honestly he seems to seek some kind of affection, and his mother probably didn't give him much growing up... These plushies have been there for him through everything, and will never judge him. He needs someone who will care for him. I don't get what's wrong with collecting plushies tbh; he seems so humble.

It is strange but I think this boy was alone for many years of his childhood and they are a way of comfort to him. I do think the hosts were rude laughing at him like that. He was clearly embarrassed but Jin and Jimin were very kind not to judge him. I think the fact that Jin has a Mario collection helps him to understand the boy alot more. That's why they are both my Bias

In my perspective these plushies are a sense of comfort for him. He mentioned that both of his parents worked, he couldn't have any pets because he was allergic, and that his little sister was to young to play with. This could all be factors in this attachment. No one was there for him but his plushies so he grew to love them. Also seeing one of his favorites was given to him by his grandmother before she passed may be his way to cope with her absence. All of the conversations that he has with the plushy may be conversations he would have wanted with his grandmother but never got to have because he couldn't see her as often as he wanted. I think this family may need professional help because there is obviously a deeper problem in this story.

I would agree with you completely except for the fact that he's irresponsible and can't take care of the plushies that he claims to love so much. He just leaves them around and his own sister is getting sick from them, he's so attached that he begs his mother for more when he can't look after what he has now. No, he wants them fine go ahead. But if he does he should learn some responsibility first, the world doesn't revolve around him and his plushies.

Chocorotzi I'm tired of people letting behaviour like this go because they're "kids". Yes, 14 is the age of a dependent, yes, his brain isn't fully developed yet, but he isn't incompetent and he is not just a kid. At 14 you should be learning to take responsibility for YOUR things, if this was a girl I would be just as angry. He should understand that taking care of a person's health, his sister's health is more important than having your plushies lie around. I have heaps of plushies in my room as a 20 year old 1) because they're cute and 2) sentimental value, but I know my dad's allergic so ever since I was 10 I've been in charge of vacuuming, cleaning my room and making sure that nothing leaves so that it isn't detrimental to a family member and why? Because they're MY plushies, I wanted then so I take care of them and don't force other people to put up with them. That should be ingrained at every age. Idc if he's a boy who likes stuffed plushies, he's old enough to know empathy and responsibility. And what's worse is that he's practically blackmailing his parents to but him more when he can't even handle the ones he has now.

His parents left him a lot, that's why he felt that his plushies are his 'family'. It's not just 'a kid' being irresponsible, the root of the problem is much deeper than that. It doesn't justify the guy to abandon his plushies, but it certainly explains why. Unless they really solve the root of the problem, it's useless to tell him to stop buying new ones

Well you see, they are comedians, if they honestly wanted good counseling then they might aswell just look for a therapist, plus would a therapist show really be good for entertainment, this is an entertainment program none the less

All I see is a kid that is trying to find some kind of affection in plushies, and if he still does that at his age I'm kinda wondering what their family is like... Obviously it's not a bad kid, every plushie means something for him because it was given to him for a special occasion that he remembers, so I can't help but think he has a kind heart. I hadn't watched the other part before writing my comment, and after watching only this part, it didn't seemed that extreem. But anyway, I still think nobody just randomly choose to care more about plushies than family, except if there is a deeply rooten problem with said family. He said that his parents were not really present when he was growing up and to me this is the starting point of that problem = people gave him plushies to cope with the absence of the attention he needed.
Now I agree he HAS to obey his mother, stop being so selfish and care about his little sister, but I still believe the "culprit" are more his parents that him. And when a problem is so deeply rooted, I don't think just saying "grow up and leave these plushies" is a solution, if he still needs them, there's a reason. And that has to be worked on so he can naturally stop needing the plushies.
UJin Kim. We don't know if his sister is nice, she might be a horrible person. There are a lot of people I dislike, and I would put my plushies before them any day.

Sadly, in Korea, most of the way they try to fix mental health problems is by public humiliation. This show is actually a step up from the usual methods. Mental health is still extremely stigmatized over there, and after these episodes, they actually send people to professionals to get real help. I don't like how they make fun of the people who come in, but to be fair this is primarily a comedy show and the people know what they're getting into when they come on the show.
For people from other cultures, this show seems like it doesn't do shit, but it's actually done a lot to help bring mental health and unhealthy behaviors to the forefront of Korean culture and not just sweep it under the rug like they used to do (and still do a lot).
I thought it's about seeing the problem from another point of view right?

I'm talking mainly to Ujin Kim who keeps copying & pasting the same comment to others and complaining without considering his feelings also. Yes he should care about his sister too but BEFORE he can do that he must open up to those around him about his personal problems so he can stop relying on his plushies for comfort. actually, psychologists sometimes make such sessions where patient talks with dolls/plushie. So, i suppose it was like a self treatment. But it's goes too far because noone helps him to cure his real problems. And in my opinion, it's parents fault, mostly it is a lack of affection.

i am the only child, my mom loves me a lot but she has to work so sometimes i feel so lonely. since i was a little kid, mom used to buy me Barbie dolls so i just play with it and make them talk like they are alive but it was always me who talked. I feel like if anything, it was the mothers fault. If he felt/feels lonely enough to think of his stuffed animals as his alive family, almost more important than his real family than there must have gone something wrong with the way she raised him. Like, giving your child everything he wanted until the second child is born is not going to help anything if in the end you aren't there for them to confide in. But what Jiminie said is also true, it's not his sisters fault and he should reconsider how he behaves towards her

I did watch the whole episode before even rewatching this part. I never said it isn't a problem. And it is bad that he chose the stuffed animals over his sister, but can you blame him when those are his comfort. It's clear that he can't talk with anyone about problems he has, aside from the plushies, he apparently does not get that kind of affection and he does need it. Therefore, it's the moms fault, cuz she should be the one giving it to him. He wouldn't need those stuffed animals in the first place if he'd get the affection from a living human being.

I don't really see a problem with him having a 'large' amount of plushies, I mean I'm 18 and i swear I at least have 2x as much plushies than he has.
As long as he takes care of them, doesn't leave them laying around and cleans them every now and then, then it isn't a problem I mean at least he's not running around causing trouble.
And I get what he means when he says they were like his friends as I have experienced that and still do. I have times were I'm sad or have a thought plaguing me and I just sit down and voice it out to a plushie. Chan Min My real issue with it is that he respects his stuffed animals more than his sister. The plushies causes a lot of dust to form, and his younger sister got hospitalized because of it. Having them isn't that big a deal if he can take care of them, but the fact he seems to have more concern for them than his own family is a bit much.
True I agree with you on that. There is a limit to how much you can love something even if it's dear to your heart. Concerning the plushies if he took care of them correctly or didn't leave them lying around then they wouldn't create a lot of dust
I think the problem is his emotional connection to the animals, to the point where he thinks they have both emotional and physical feelings. Theres nothing wrong with collecting toys and stuffed animals, but he treats them like they have a living soul. He cherishes them more than his own sister!

I completely agree with you it is worrying in that sense, it is sad when you think about the fact that he is more likely to prioritize plushies over his family. What needs to be done is that the parents should be slightly accepting start to approach him in a way that would make him realize that the family is more important than plushies, even if he may continue to collect them.

I'm 18 and I still have plushies every time I go the Disney store I have to get a plushie for my collection. In a way it's a sense of comfort and makes me still feel young like my sister. There also nice to have around for my little cousins who loves my 3 ft Olaf plushie 😂😂😂 but I had Barbie toys throughout my middle school years with a huge doll house and in high school gave them away since I've out grown them. I don't think she should worry to much in all honesty id rather have my son play with plushies then be worried about how many girlfriends he has lol

Better collect plushies than smoke, weed, drug, sex. He did so because he lack of affection since younger due to their parent work. just arrange him to clean his own room, to regularly save money for future, give him a mind to set goals and how to achieve it. He just need a suggestion with affection, not suggestion with judging.
I understand how he could be so attached to his plushies. I was the youngest in my family by 7 years and was extremely shy as a child. So I played a lot by myself with stuffed animals and our family pets, I was extremely attached to them. It was hard to give any of them away even as I got older. I can also understand why his Mom could be frustrated. Yet I feel like there is really a deeper problem here within their family. This boy is clearly wanting love and comfort and there could be worse ways for him to fill that void. He clearly has a very sweet heart. 💗🙏

He is hurting someone, it might not be physically but he is psychologically scarring his little sister. The entire time she had the same worn out expression. If his collection of plushies and playing with them is something he did for himself and bothered no one by it then it's fine but forcing his sister to play along even tho she is clearly doesnt want to thats a HUGE problem. He also shows signs of a manipulative character, drawing on his and just to scare his mom that not ok.
Having said all that I also agree about the mother, outing him on national television might not have been the best decision. He could get bullied and made fun of in school and this will pretty much follow him all his live. Also she said something about giving him all he wanted growing up. Although to some parent it might seem like the best way to show affection and love to their kids but thats only spoils them and ruins their characters. This kid is a prime example.

chimiangelz 1) it's not a problem that he loves and cherishes his plushies, the problem is that he doesn't take responsibility for them and cares more for their 'feelings' than the health of his younger sister. THAT'S upsetting, him being a boy shouldn't be brought up it's completely arbitrary and I'm tired of people trying to use that point to defend him.
2) Since he's on tv, he must've given his consent as well and doesn't care about any potential backlash but admittedly, this isn't the best thing to go to for actual help.

Make sure no one (cough HIS YOUNGER SISTER cough) is having their health compromised, that it's not littering the house, because if he truly cares for them as much as he claims he wouldn't just leave them around and ignore his mum telling him to fix them up. matchamei A child mind is pretty flat. They don't think and value the things the same way as we adults do. Kids just follows their instincs. I think it's obvious that he has a problem with his self steem and he feels the lack of interaction/affection with his parents. The plushies are the representation of that love he needs. He see "them" as his family because of that. Also is a way to confort himself. A kid who feels abandoned tries to ask parents atention in diferent ways. Some make troubles and some ask for things. This kid ask a lot of plushies because its his way to reclam their atention and love. The fact that he throw them on the floor that easily is nothing more than the reflection of how he see himself. He does the same thing as the parents do with him. Kids are the reflection of their parents. With that said is not that he prefers the plushies over her sister, he just wants to feel confort and that's what the plushie gives him. You can't blame the feelings and behaviour of a kid that obviously had been emotionaly abandoned by their parents. If you really want to blame someone you should blame his parents. I don't blame anyone, I don't think they wanted the things to turn out like this but it happened. They did the best on work for their children but that created this feeling on him. At the end all of them are victims of the circumstances. What I really think is that it's extremly wrong to expose something that private on a tv show. She should have taking him to get some professional psycological help. All this behaviour and actions are much deeper than the superficial kid that only wants plushies and "doesn't care about his sister". When you study psychology applied to kids you can see and understand many things that you couldn't before.

Veritas Cognitio what I get from this whole show is that his family wasn't there for him when he needed them. and as a child he only had his plushies to turn to, as unorthodox as it maybe, and as he grew up also, the only place he could find comfort in was his plushies. I agree he should look after them amd clean up and all that but I understand how for him plushies are more important than his family. this boy needs help to get better. from certified and qualified professionals. his family, mainly his parents, are the irresponsible ones here because they are the ones parading him infront the whole country causing more problems amd making him mote dependent on his plushies. this is just his family wanting their 15 minutes of Fame than trying to help him get better. in my opinion

I can relate since I was always left out and moved around since I was young. I also have an emotional attachment to them since I don't talk to anyone about my feelings with my family.

I can relate alot! I also have that kind of complex, I collected some dolls (but not as much as him, I only has around 5 dolls that always with me) I always have to sleep with them, arrange them, named eachother and atleast greet them twice a day. I brought at least 3 whenever I traveled everywhere. That happens until my 3rd grade of middle school.
The difference is since he's usually alone (his parents work and his sister too little) but for me its because I have too many family member at my family and I was the most shy and most quiet person at my family so I kinda left alone (?) Or forgotten (?) Something like that (my lil sister is such a cutie, talk alot and good at making jokes and converse with people thats why I often left alone). But I think we both have the same in common. We both are lonely, and the dolls are our comfort way.
After I entered senior high school, I got the place when I realized what I really want and the people that really hears me thats why slowly but sure I dont hold on my dolls anymore :)
