A superb play. I watched it as a kid, and have never forgotten it. So pleased to have found it here. Thank you for putting it on.

Watched this when I was 15. I'm now 68. Never forgot it. Along with Boys From The Black Stuff and many editions of Man Alive, these profound and important programmes influenced my career choice and values. They really don't make 'em like this any more ☹️

Very interesting film and incredibly well-acted. It could just have been set in the times of Dickens, or now, with many, many homeless people and social services being overwhelmed or underserving these homeless people. Patricia Hayes does an amazing job; Edna manages to fight for freedom and respect, despite her circumstances. It really shows, too, how mental illness plays a part.

You make is sound like they deserve help ?? they won't help themselves, any money they get is spent on drink or drugs. Would you give them a home ?? I doubt it !

@@jeanniemullinder9038 Wow, you certainly are filled with love, understanding, and kindness...Not. I had a mentally ill aunt who would stop her meds and vanish and reappear. People end up on the street for complex reasons. You seem to have hardened opinions, but are they based on anything rational or on standing back and judging?

@@SMtWalkerS No, they won't give you any rational or cogent reasons for their position. They're just another bigoted arsehole

@@jeanniemullinder9038Most of these people are abuse sufferers or mentally ill. So they self medicate with alcohol. And of course they deserve help of the right kind.

@@SMtWalkerS Well said. The woman is clearly devoid of empathy and far more pitiable than those she condemns.

If they were giving someone ETC they wouldn't be touching the patient.
