    Become a materials engineer in 2021? Materials engineering isn't above any other engineering field, but all the materials being tested, analyzed, processed, and developed by materials engineers are for all engineers, regardless of the specialization. Materials engineers study the properties, components, and characteristics of any material.
    Let’s find out if being a materials engineer is right for you through these questions:
    What is the average salary of a materials engineer?
    What is the job market like for materials engineers? Would it be hard for you to get a job?
    Would this occupation be compatible with your personality and interests?
    What kind of education do you need to become a materials engineer?
    So, how different are materials engineers from materials scientists? Both materials engineers and materials scientists deal with the overall nature of a material, but materials engineers are more concerned than materials scientists about whether or not the material can be used for a specific purpose.
    Materials scientists work in a laboratory, studying the material at an atomic level, whereas materials engineers at manufacturing companies, helping them choose the right material to be used for the products. Materials engineers also look into the properties of any material, but they are more focused on the application side of it.
    You can be a materials scientist with a degree in materials engineering, but you can't be a materials engineer with a non-engineering science degree.

    I like when you also showed the salaries from Germany,Uk ,Australia and Canada because it's nice to see other countries purchasing power. Us still has more

      It is always surprising to me. I always assumed people in the US earn more in every occupation. Not always the case.

    👍👍👍I'm really glad that I found your channel! Your videos have helped me understand more about becoming a dentist. I was wondering if you could make a video about becoming a dental hygienist.

    I am mechanical engineer, graduate in May of this year. I have worked as a materials engineer for Honda and then for Apple I was a recycling technologies hardware engineer I went from recycling water to recycling electronics specifically glass I was called the “Glass expert of Apple” just as an intern.I did co-op for both Apple and Honda. I believe I didn’t get a full time offer with Apple because I didn’t have a masters. I had another interview with Apple for a Materials engineering full time position as a package product design engineer under their hardware team so I also believe I didn’t get the position because I didn’t have a Masters nor PhD so idk

    The pay isn’t as great as it’s claimed, it’s a cool job nonetheless, but I wasn’t seeing impressive numbers unless I was working with defense contractors. On average, a registered nurse will see 100k+ before an engineer or scientist. My sister has been killing me in that area for about a decade now. STEM salaries seem to plateau at some point unless you’re self employed, while the medical folks’s salaries climb annually. I might have to switch careers lol!

    thanks for the informative video! i have a BFA in fashion design and have been interested in learning materials engineering for career purposes. any idea on if I'd be able to take some prerequisite courses and go directly into a masters ME degree? or would i have to start from bachelors?

    • @sarathkumarmulugurthi9206
      @sarathkumarmulugurthi9206 2 года назад +1

      Most of the universities will ask for minimum bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering, if you wanna do masters in ME. If you dont have degree in Engineering it will be difficult to obtain. You can start with Bachelors Material Engineering. You have degree in Fashion, ME might not be what you think. ME deals with mechanics of the material under different stress, load, and temperature conditions to predict failure or selecting a suitable material for various conditions and so on. If you have good fundamentals maths, physics then ME can be fun for you.

      @@sarathkumarmulugurthi9206 Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. It sounds like ME may be too industry specific for me. I'm looking for something that will allow me to understand materials (particularly polymers) and manufacturing more deeply for the sake of invention and product development.

    It’s not clear if you are basing salaries on 4 yr degree or if data includes those with advanced degree.

      @CareerWatch  3 года назад +1

      They lump them all together, but it will be mostly 4 year degrees.
