Later, the Assassin (Hercules Hernandez) with manager Paul Jones compete against “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant in a “hair-vs.-mask” match in the “Boogie Jam ‘84” in Memphis back in 1984.
Thanks it's great to see upsets like this.I miss Lance and Dave on Saturday mornings . And great tag teams like the Assassins, the Fabs, Rock N Express
When the entire babyface locker room hit the ring, I hope somebody noticed Jerry Lawler's sweet-ass track suit he was sporting. I would kill for that outfit.
Hello and thanks much GShea for this classic Memphis wrestling moment. Truly awesome! Jimmy Hart was at his BEST when he was in Memphis, imo. What do you guys think? Can't say enough about Misters Russell and Brown man. They made. Well Lance Russell made CWA and Wrestling in Memphis classic. Dave probably didn't want to say or do to much because of his weatherman status in Southwest Tennessee, no? Lol!
Hilarious! Jimmy Hart's assassins beaten by two young, inexperienced wrestlers. With an assist from the team they didn't want to put up the World tag team titles against, The Fabulous Ones.
When are the assassin coming back to Augusta ga?the answer are the best in the wrestling ring of all star wrestling I will always remember the assassin and my name is Howard Youngblood a big time wrestling family fan from Augusta ga and Inez Youngblood is two 2
@DavidFullam I believe so. I know there's a clip from Championship Wrestling from Georgia on RUclips somewhere of Jimmy Hart announcing that he had just signed the Assassin (this is circa 1985, just before him jumping ship to the WWF) and when Jody Hamilton cut a promo where he mentioned how "imitation was the sincerest form of flattery" which I couldn't help but think was a dig at Hart for managing Roger Smith's Assassins for such a long time. Was there truly bad blood there?
What happened to Reed and Rapier after they won the title? I rember watching this match on TV but did Reed and Rapier retire as champs or lose it in as match or rematch?
I keep looking for the original assassins tag team that did more local in the south... I can never find anything on them. My dad was one and this was before i was born so im looking for information to learn more about him.
What is your dad's name? I might be able to help. My dad and my uncle were the assassins for the quite a few years in the mid south territories. The also trained a few of the guys they passed their hoods down to. I might be able to go through some of their old albums and portfolios and find something for you.
The Assassins later compete against the Fabulous Ones (Stan Lane & Steve Keirn) in a “hair-vs.-mask” match, the Assassins lost the match to the Fabs and they lost their masks. A week later, the Assassins later return as “The A-Team.”
gristleizer Yes, it’s them. The Assassins later their masks to the Fabulous Ones in a mask-vs.-hair match. A week later, the Assassins returned as The A-Team. Roger Smith later turned face and became “Dirty Rhodes,” who resembles the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes and teamed with “Harley Davidson” and became a popular tag team in the Memphis territory.

I've wanted to see this again for years....
Reed&Rapermania forever

The summary by Dave Russell - Steve simply helping Ken Raper out of harm's way and then back into the ring - classic.
You are correct! Torch was Larry Wright.

R.I.P Jody hamilton
Jodi Hamilton was awesome

I think they had a third when Smith & Bass were Fire Flame & Torch. I might be wrong because I know Bass & Smith where Fire & Flame
The Assassins were Don Bass and Roger Smith.
Hamilton & Ernesto?
@@spinalthepirate7207 not here they were not
@@geodeuce Seemed like every territory had their own version of the Assassins.

Jody signed with the WWF?
@gristleizer Yup.

I don't know; but that's Ken Raper's only title win, maybe his only win in wrestling and that's all that counts here.
They got injured in the rematch that Monday night
@@randywilliams4164 The Assassins regained the belts two days later at Mid-South, then a week later Stan and Steve won the belts

@@codywright3843 Phillip Huffman. His brother was Roger Fannin, he was a ref in those times too. If you can find out anything that would be amazing!

The Fabs and Memphis Wrestling was awesome! Jimmy Hart was great at getting the people to hate him!
Parts Unknown is near Truth or Conquesneses New Mexico and Death Valley
This almost as sweet as the Mulkey Brothers winning their only match
I wonder if Jarrett ever wanted to bring in Jody Hamilton to fued with Hart's Assassins.
That would have been a classic
