- Sadie Bell says her husband David died in the parking lot of the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters during his third time at the hospital seeking medical treatment.
Sue the hospital and those doctors for malpractice. My heart breaks for this family.

I'm a Native American tribal member, and I had a bleeding stomach ulcer. I was kicked out of the ER by hospital staff saying that they know how my people lie. I went to another hospital and was admitted for two weeks in intensive care. This is very common for people of color

Hard to fathom being refused care by hospital staff, where people go to get help! I was a nurse, when I was younger, and took care of a lot of Hospice patients, all backgrounds, races and sexual orientations. What mattered to me and our care team, was keeping our patients comfortable, treating thei pain, giving them care and comforting thei family. I met some interesting people, and learned so much, just by listening to their stories and observing their culture. We are not heee to judge others on earth, as Jesus said to love one another, as Christ loves us.. if there is judgement to be done, God will take care of that, at His appointed time!

My husband had shortness of breath for months and we went in ER at least 6 times, they took chest X-rays and told us all was ok not to worry every time we went in. In October we found out he has cancer and he is stage 4!!! We are devastated ER doctors are incompetent and incapable. This has to stop.

My point here is ER was incompetent to see these metastasis after numerous times we had X-rays done. They kept assuring us there was absolutely nothing wrong

Almost every patient would have a horror story to tell you. People go to hospitals for help - not to accelerate the dying process before their time.
Sadly, the Supreme Courts opinion that abortion was not guaranteed in the Constitution opened the door to deny care to everyone (except rich self pay patients), as no medical treatment is included in the Constitution. Guns have more value than we do.
I'm so angry. I'm heartbroken, disgusted and I don't even know these people. He worked for a department that save lives, yet his couldn't be saved. I'm sick of this.

His EKG was normal, so they sent him home with a bogus diagnosis.
ER doctors do this daily. It is disgusting.

There is a perception that people that present that way are stronger and hardier than their white counterparts and they are treated as though nothing is wrong. I had a co-worker that was stunned when I took a sick day for the first time in two years. She said "I thought you were indomitable". Just because I don't whine about every ache and illness and wouldn't take time off work for an emergency tongue procedure from a massage therapist. You read that right. Black people aren't allowed to be so sickly that it impacts our jobs. We'd get counseled while they get empathy, tests, and meds.

Everything ain't COVID. As a nurse with nearly 20 years experience this is so disheartening. I wished they'd had a nurse to advocate and fight for them. So WHAT he came back again and again. I bet that's what his discharge papers say. For him to return if he doesn't improve or he worsens.

A lot times they will tell you "if the problem persists or gets worse come back." What is the point if they are not going to treat you if you do come back??? It is their job to find the problem...ruling out the obvious is not treatment. There are other tests that can be done...not just one.

I know this is not the time but let this be a lesson to everyone DO NOT keep taking your loved ones back to the same place where they are obviously being ignored. You have common sense. My heart is so broken. I'm not surprised because this is an ongoing issue. As a nurse, I have seen and heard a lot of inequality in health care services even when they are educated and have the best health insurance.
This is total negligence and poor practice that calls for immediate investigation and legal actions immediately
I seen this happen and i been to the e.r where ppl come in complaining of chest pain and they just have them sit in the waiting room i know in the e.r they supposed to take the serious cases first yet soneone complains of chest pain and they treat them last racial discrimination is everywhere white ppl control this is why we do need our own community again because the unfairness is real i've witnessed it and have experienced it myself

I'm so sorry for your loss. This happened to my Uncle many years ago. He went to hospital for chest pains, shortness of breath, arm pain, dizziness. The nurse did her thing then set him back out in the waiting room. Within 5 minutes, he had a massive heart attack and died in the waiting room. 😭.
My Aunt refused to sue or press charges. This was devastating. Both my auntie and uncle were white, so it doesn't only happen to african americans. My point is that no matter who you are, hospitals have a standing policy that if a patient has chest pain, no matter their color or how many times they have been to ER, hospitals are supposed to immediately hook them up to ekg monitor. Obviously they didn't with my uncle or your husband. This is so sad. The outcome may have been different had the hospital staff done what they were supposed to do. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort for you and your family.

A friend of mine went to the hospital three times for a severe migraine. It was so bad her eyeball was literally sticking out of its socket. They said she was "med seeking" and sent her home. She went to another hospital, the Dr took one look and rushed her into emergency surgery. She was leaking brain fluid on to the base of her spine. If she would've waited just hours longer, she would've died
Some would be surprised how many times this happens. I've been an RN for 18yrs.
I took my daughter to the ER in California because she was having horrible anxiety. The doctor told her se was just there for drugs. We didn't take her back there. It turned out her heart was mis- firing and she had to have heart surgery.

I had a major surgery in California at one of the countries so called best teaching hospitals. They almost killed me. I'm diabetic and they had been giving me glucose drips. I was in intensive care for 21 days. I initially was supposed to be home in 4 days. It's just crazy.

This did the same thing to my mom. She died two weeks ago. The hospital staff was horrible to her. We end up finding her dead in the morning it was horrible. I feel for her.
I hope they sue the hospital and physicians. I'm so very sorry for their loss, this is just horrible.
