  • Previously painted from it's previous owner, my car needed some work to really get the most from the paint, so I set out to fully restore it and bring out it's potential! It took me over 40hrs to complete from Washing, decontaminating, sanding, 3 stage buffing and waxing, and it was all worth it!✨👌😎
    Watch and learn as I take you through step by step, all the way!

    Really nice work. You even went to the wet sand level. Respect. How much time total was spent on this project. I would have guessed a week straight.
    As much as I prefer some version of a graphine coating or SiO2 similar for a long-lasting final layer, it’s so hard to beat the deep gloss and showroom finish of a carnuba/wax. Came out really nice.

      Time wise, man it was a lot! 😮‍💨 The buffing☠️ oh man, it killed me but the project took me over two months to complete on and off. Worth the time and effort. Yea, that wax was top notch too! That warm glow is exactly what I wanted and it really delivered!

    Did you consider using a high quality ceramic coating ? The good one's offer 5-8 years of protection, and superior gloss.

    • @brendan.holt_
      @brendan.holt_  3 месяца назад

      Hey! Good question. I certainly did, but chose wax for three reasons
      1. From my understanding consumer level ceramics coatings (cc) aren’t as good as pro level ones, but with pro level you need heat lamps to cure it which I don’t have.
      2. I’ve never applied CC before.
      3. And the main reason is wanted the nice warm glow that wax gives over the cool glow of CC.
      I know CC def has its place and it’s amazing but in this instance the positives of wax outweighed the negatives for me

    All the work of wet sanding only to put a wax on the paint, such a shame not to PPF the entire car to protect all that work that was done. A single stage polish would have saved so much more material on the paint and has 85% of the effect. Nice work though =)

    • @brendan.holt_
      @brendan.holt_  3 месяца назад +2

      I see and understand your points but I disagree in this instance because the paint isn’t good enough to spend thousands on PPF, if it was freshly resprayed and perfect, 100% but it’s got scratches and stone chips all over it. I also tried waxing, yes it was shiny but I didn’t like the finish of the clear. It was grainy and I knew it had more to give, hence the process.

      PPF to ruin later the clear coat?
      That ppf will sonetime have his time over. You can’t keep that for ever so whats the Point. When removing you also can damage the clear coat

    Could have lifted door handle & cleaned under them & turned the wing mirrors to get inside them better. Don't believe you can only use a 6" & 5" pad? Tooth pickery for the final job would make it even better! Can't beat a proper wax as opposed to a ceramic etc world these days

    • @brendan.holt_
      @brendan.holt_  2 месяца назад +1

      Have no fear mate, there was a lot of things I did that I didn’t add in the film like the handles and wing mirrors, also removed all the mouldings, rear tail lights and dismantled the guard grills and restored each blade individually. It was a lot!😮‍💨🫠 worth it though. Yea love the warm glow of a wax👌

    I was pleasantly surprised when you applied that traditional wax! In today's ceramic-dominated world, it's truly refreshing to see. Many overlook the subtle yet beautiful warm glow that soft waxes provide. It seems people are so focused on the super shine of ceramic coatings, akin to how gold diggers are drawn to big diamonds or insects to the luring light of bug zappers. Fantastic work! I'm sure it looks beautiful in person. Try not to look back at it so much when you walk away after parking, as it may induce neck discomfort!

    • @brendan.holt_
      @brendan.holt_  3 месяца назад +1

      Yep, that’s correct but in this instance I wanted to make sure I did every area possible as didn’t know what areas I was going to sand until I got to it so I wanted to cover my bases so I knew I gave it the best process I could for the areas that weren’t sanded to be buffed and also the wax to bond perfectly
