Agreed! Their song O-o-o Child came to mind the other day and I’ve been playing it on a loop😂. That is what a great tune will do! It’s a bonafide classic🫶🏽👍🏾
@@brodocbetty4856 Good Evening I agree. I learned that Kenni and the surviving members have been asked many times to have a documentary done on them but they refused due to them keeping parts of their lives private.
Behind Curtains was my favorite song i'm 74yrs young and I still play this 45 record and the album till this day. The Five StairsSteps. Style, grace class all the way around 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩👸🏽💯💯💯
Thank you Narada, super super gifted as well for having Keni B on your podcast I learned a lot of history from you both yall go way back you both are God sent, love that Rising to the top is my anthem song the words are inspiring! Thank you Keni B thank you both for sharing your musical talent to the world and our hearts looking for more music from you both we need you both much love. This is an amazing interview. It's a history lesson told and shared by Maestro Keni and Maestro Walden. The stories are gems. Thank you so much for this.
At 74yrs young I'm so glad and bless to see The Five Stairsteps this group was a class act all the way around what a Masterpiece of pure talent, grace, style and so much class their first album where they were wearing black coats and red pants and black boots helping their sister Alohe clime brick fence Keni, Dennis, Clearance Jr., James and Cubie. 🎩👒🎵🎙💿📀🎷💯💯
Hello Keni. My sisters and brothers and myself grew up with your cousins on the westside and went to the same school. My older brother bought the first 45's and LP; and man we loved you guys and gal. My children listened to your music and said they are the best. Nice looking family but that Dennis...ohhh lala. Thank you Jesus for this family! God bless you all! Love ya"
Keni I love your song I get off on you❤️ It’s on my playlist when I’m working overnight , you are both legends and thank you for the sound tracks to my life growing up
Finally! I grew up listening to and seeing the Five Stairsteps. I actually experienced what Keni Burke related about his father playing the bass at their stage shows because they performed in Cleveland, Ohio regularly. I also remember Keni playing the "Tighten Up" baseline on a bass that was as big as he was at the time. We were going crazy because he was killing it! Lastly, it was great to hear the background story on how the " 2nd Resurrection" album came to be. Definitely a stand alone classic! RIP Clarence Burke jr.
Hey Narada / It's Pete Peterkin former guitarist /Songwriter with Donny Hathaway & Curtis Mayfield// I have something important to lay on you and I'll send it 3 parts cause I know people hate loooong texts(Lol) I did a musical retrospective on The 5 Stairsteps . I've been trying to get this to Keni but have not heard anything . Got praises from Leon Sylvers/ Stuart Bascombe of Black Ivory and many more. Anyway I'm sending it now
Awesome interview between two musicians, so you can see and hear the respect towards one another, and the wonderful stories being shared in this interview. Thanks Narada, thanks Keni
I saw Walter Jackso at the Skyway Lounge in Chicago in 1974. He was on his crutches it was actually part of his act to "fall" or "almost fall". The crowd went crazy ! He was brilliant ! You could have heard a pin drop when he was singing, I'll never forget that night as long as I live !
Outstanding interview...I'm from Chicago it was like a trip down memory lane ! I really enjoyed every minute ☺️ Thank you gentlemen ! Sincerely, Mary Boukas Schlenker
On god keni is the unsung bass goat. All night is one of the hardest songs gs I’ve ever tried to nail. It’s so obscenely fast and tight. Man is a master and I’m hard pressed to find more technical chops in the game.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving one of the most underrated, and unappreciated bassists, musicians, songwriters, and producers on the planet a platform!!!! Larry Graham mentioned Keni as one of HIS FAVORITE BASS PLAYERS!!!! Despite his amazing discography, Keni's name is barely mentioned when discussing great bassists!!! Yeah, the bass line on "Rising to the Top" is one of the COLDEST BASS GROOVES IN HISTORY!!! I love the song that Keni played on The Ramsey "Routes" project!!! ruclips.net/video/ZMQztz5ipeI/видео.html What a FANTASTIC INTERVIEW!!!
The Five Stairsteps deserves a documentary. Chicago soul royalty. History.

Narada made my day with Alvin Taylor recently but he made my late night right now with My Bro Keni
I remember what going on I know it's keni burke yes the intelligence the massage the unity the God in us
Great interview Narmada. I Rembrandt being 6 or 7 years old and hearing the five stair steps and knowing how great the music was.
Very good interview.
Keni Burke is the closest to Larry Graham bass style, Prince is second, I say he’s second because he came later, Keni was first
I REALLY Can't believe that Naradas is 71, NO NO, He looks almost 15 years younger, He was and still is a very good looking guy
Would love to see an interview with Dennis Aloha and Kenny together.
The only siblings living are Ahole and him. Dennise, James, and Clarence passed.
Who was the drummer on O-o-h Child, Jerome Brailey or Bernard Purdie?
