Concealed within the gas tank compartment of a truck, operatives found 511 jumbo sacks of cannabis sativa, totaling a weight of 4,752kg. This discovery highlights the agency's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and distribution networks within the country.
Following the interception, four individuals were apprehended in connection with the illicit consignment. Moreover, the NDLEA's operations extended beyond the Abuja-Abaji highway, as they successfully disrupted an international drug syndicate with intricate networks spanning Nigeria, Africa, and Thailand. Through a series of intelligence-led operations, the agency arrested multiple individuals involved in the syndicate's activities.
In Lagos, Abia, and Anambra states, the NDLEA's efforts led to the apprehension of several cartel members after the seizure of illicit drug consignments at the NAHCO import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
The agency's thorough investigation unveiled the extent of the syndicate's operations, which included the smuggling of synthetic strains of cannabis and drug candies.
Among the arrested individuals are Umeh Chisom Peter, Mrs. Chinwendu Uche Ugbe, Onyejiakor Francis Chimezie, Nnaji Valentine Chukwukere, Chinazo Osigwe, Aminu Umar, Anas Umar, and Bashir Umar.
These arrests represent a significant blow to the drug trafficking network, disrupting their operations and preventing the flow of illicit substances into communities across the country.
The NDLEA's commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes is further underscored by additional arrests in Kaduna and Kano states.
Aminu Umar, Anas Umar, and Bashir Umar were apprehended with large quantities of cannabis sativa and codeine syrup, further dismantling the activities of drug peddlers operating in various regions of Nigeria.
Overall, these operations demonstrate the NDLEA's relentless pursuit of justice and their dedication to safeguarding the well-being of citizens by combating the scourge of drug trafficking and abuse.
