    If you're going to use XLR for power, consider using XLR-LNE or XLR4 so at least there's no way to screw up and accidentally plug one of the supplies into a mixer input.

      But both those are kinda hard to get hold of (in my experience) I would've personally gone for powerCON (or Speakon if you wanted an audio-esque connector) to get the locking. But I suppose the argument for XLR (and line jacks) is that you'd have to bring fewer things in a repair kit

    • @laptop006
      @laptop006 4 года назад +1

      @@swantzter The problem with powercon is they're now common enough that you'd then have the problem of someone accidentally plugging an AC cable straight in to the synth.

    • @swantzter
      @swantzter 4 года назад

      @@laptop006 yeah that is a fair point, hence why I was thinking about Speakon. It gets us back to the issue with XLR or Jack sockets, but at least over here they aren't that usual

You’ll probably get stuck with an extra euro panel though but maybe they could take care of you with just a PCB if you sent an e-mail beforehand. Also, they’ve got a bunch of new Befaco just-PCBs (no panel/PCB set) for people wanting to upgrade to the new revisions of their modules - works out if you make your own panel.

    The 1948 book Cybernetics: Or, Control and Communication in the Animal and the Machine, by mathematician Norbert Wiener from MIT played an important role in the development of the Barrons' composition. The science of cybernetics proposes that certain natural laws of behavior apply to both animals and more complex electronic machines.
    By following the equations presented in the book, Louis was able to build electronic circuits which he manipulated to generate sounds. Most of the tonalities were generated with a circuit called a ring modulator. The sounds and patterns that came out of the circuits were unique and unpredictable because they were actually overloading the circuits until they burned out to create the sounds. The Barrons could never recreate the same sounds again, though they later tried very hard to recreate their signature sound from Forbidden Planet. Because of the unforeseen life span of the circuitry, the Barrons made a habit of recording everything.

      Why? There are already alot of red indicator LEDs and Sam can propably reach every knop on his setup bindfolded.

      Why not ?
      Id be just cool to have it all well lit to stand out even more in a dark booth. and make sure he can see everything.
      Might not be necessary. But it can't harm

    Looks great!! Was hoping to see your vca's... are they all the valve ones you showed before? I ask because I have built your oscillator, a sequencer, and your envelope generator but need a vca! At the moment I'm just doing a passive transistor thing which is sort of OK but think I need something better. Good luck with the tour. Sending my sister to your gig tomorrow in Ramsgate!

    Do you have any plans to talk about how you design/layout your pcb modules?
    The new oscillators look sick - can't wait for the video on that.

    Your setup puts mine to shame! Currently running a 104hp setup... and it's still a bodgy pile. Gotta finish putting the new case together at some point. I will say the Clouds is a fucking sweet module to mess with, glad to see you packing one! Though I haven't sussed it all out yet myself!

      Neil Forbes-Richardson yeah it is a cool module! The broken out one is cooler! I think it’s tsunami or something?
