Brilliant "PAY-LAHW" (i.e. Pelau or Pulao, Palaw, etc.) Delivery My Brother! 👏 You've actually solved my problem of how much water to add to the rice in this "cook up" as the dish is sometimes called also!🎈 Like bread goes with butter, PELAU goes with LIMING, and many of our Foreign Friends already know the definition of LIMING which TRINIDADIANS use when referring to HANGING OUT. However, what may not be as apparent is that many Trinidadian themselves don't know how TO LIME! In fact, some Trinidadians are secretly excluded from gatherings because they're FAMOUS FOR KILLING LIMES!😂 Many learned Trinidadians have attempted to research the origins of the word - LIME - and have come up with things like the term was invented by students of Queens Royal College (a "Prestige" High School in Trinidad) who were hanging out under a tree, and when asked what they were doing, they answered "Liming" meaning painting the base of the trunk white. Others have attributed the definition of LIMING to Indian Indentured Servants relaxing by bars after "liming the fields and plantations". Yet other Scholars and Linguists have claimed that LIMING came from putting lime in alcoholic beverages, or American soldiers in Trinidad during WWII who carried limes in their pockets, or from British sailors who were called "limeys", etc. Since nobody knows for sure, I'll put my TWO CENTS which nobody on the face of the earth has ever proffered. I think that too much emphasis has been placed on the English word LIME, and this has blindsided the possibility that LIMING could be a CHINESE WORD comprised of TWO WORDS - "LI" AND "MING" - which put together mean - DAWN or DAY-BREAK. Since the British were also in China, the British Sailors themselves could have picked up the word, used the word - LIMING - do describe THE ART OF DOING NOTHING UNTIL DAWN. So there you have it, a brand new possibility of the ETYMOLOGY OF THE WORD - LIMING - on this Amazing RUclips Channel!🎈👏🎉
I like how Mr Sana does explain things with such simplicity and clarity
