Birthday celebrations for Syd. A trip to La Vega Trinidad.
Today happens to be Sadie's birthday but I just had to post this vid, it had been sitting too long in the archives. Sydney just turned 11 on this day and she just wanted a cake and to be driven out with us. So, down to La vega. It was an amazing day. Wonderfully paced. Not hustled or anxious. Just the right amount of excitement and enjoyment. Enjoy.

The first memories of coconut bakes were of those being made on a fireside, outdoors in a pot. There'd be a metal sheet with lit coals on the top of the pot, which would be balanced perefectly atop the firside.
