Anyone know what part of the river this is? I know its above Garner but not sure where they put in and took out. Is it some part of the east frio above Leakey? I used to hike in the riverbed for miles up and down the river around Leakey. Same with the Nueces near camp Wood. Had several run ins with land owners that felt they owned the riverbed. Took a couple to court for violation of the sportsmans rights act. I used to carry a packet of court decisions and copies of TX river laws when on the river. As long as you're wet, or in the bed if a dry spot, you're good. Never yakked the frio or nueces, need to do that my next visit home before I get too old to manage it. Great video Jon B, happy you got to experience the gorgeous Frio. And btw, that's the Hill Country (God's Country), not south or west TX.
I haven’t had time for watching YT due to having a baby and I come back to seeing Grant as a full blown adult. The last time I seen him he was just a bit smaller and now he’s way bigger! So sick!!
Absolutely love the kayak content! Just got my first kayak and 8 days later broke my arm before even getting to use it. I’m just so jealous! Keep the kayak videos coming I’ll be waiting.
New subscriber! No idea why I haven’t found you until now but wow what a channel!! Am curious which action cam you prefer as I see you use DJI and GoPro in different videos! Wondering which an actual user prefers! Keep the vids coming!!
Ugghhh!! Videos like this make me want to move! We don't have rivers like this in CO. There are some mountain rivers you can float and fish for trout, but I'm a bass guy. We float the Illinois every year and it's a blast. This looks like it's even better than that.
I kinda member Grant on Jon B’s channel when he was a lil’ dude. Like Jon B went to grant’s dad’s property and fished with grant. But I might be miss remembering… is Grant the swim bait kid???
If you’d ever want to fish a section of the frio that not a lot of people get a chance to. I can get you in. Long time follower of the channel. And appreciate what you do and have done for the fishing community.
this is why i have an oru kayak, our texas rivers can be a pain to traverse in the summers when the water is supper low. the oru only weighs 26 pounds, and i can tie a rope at the front as it has its own latch for pulling. i may or may not skinny dip when no one is looking to get out of the heat 🤣
what an amazing diverse water system !! Nice job with the edits too. Perfect contrast, Caleb ya making this hill country look like paradise !! thanks again guys!
Upper Illinois river in Oklahoma is awesome for some big southern smallies, Lower Illinois has trout stocked pretty much year round. Plus there are some epic epic lakes in the area as well that’s got some bigguns.
I love the Illinois! We go to Tahlequah every year. I've only fished it the last two years, but haven't caught anything of any kind of size. Still super fun. This years trip wasn't quite the same as years prior, but still caught a few fish and still better than going to work.
@@chasevanover I'll have to look into it more. From what came up on google maps, it's a bit south from where we usually go. Looked like a neighborhood road or something though.
Look up the Paluxy River. It's nearer to you and is awesome. It's the river the dinosaur footprints are in. Camped on it many times north west of Glen Rose in the mid 90s. The big rock park on It's banks in town is awesome too. There are dinosaur footprints outside of the park just south of the last low water road crossing upstream of dinosaur valley state park. I have scarred on me body from that wonderful clear river.
Hey bro you should fly fish the pedernales for carp with my buddy Donald! Check out his podcast “the roll cast pod cast” you won’t regret it. Tight lines!
Hey Jon B can you make a video explaining your go to lures for conditions of the day and show us your favorites to use?
Wacky rig all day clear water green pumpkin, stained or dirty black blue, break out a bubblegum in the spring
He’s done it already 🙌🏼
Can’t beat a float with the fellas. Until the next one🤝🤝
Jon is developing the “dad laugh”

Yup! I was hoping to see a true South Texas river, but this is awesome too!
Beautiful. Tight lines!
You should contact H-E-B camp north of Leakey,tx would be an incredible place to fish. Also Garner state park.
You know what part of the frio he’s on in this video ?
I'm pretty positive the last video started at Garner.

Love the vidoes! Thank you for inspiring me to want to get out there and catch fish. You make it look so fun! Love the adventures!!!
Mannn I’m so happy to see that the fish population in the river hasn’t completely disappeared. Also thought the river would’ve been muchhh more dry.
