'maana ki mohabbat..' verse is the one i find the most beautiful in this song. But still, the moment it starts playing, i go through mixed emotions- the pure joy on listening to it begin, but the realization soon hits that this is the last verse of the song and that it would end after it. i don't know if i make sense. i am just ABSOLUTELY in love with this thing of beauty.

I have been reading many comments of people saying that Coke Studio should leave the legendary songs & ghazals alone. I, myself am very sensitive about the old classics & I feel like I am cheating on them by giving a hearing to the renditions, but that resistance is only within us.
I do agree that there are many hit & misses in the process. However, some of them are quite good. This one for instance is beautiful singing by Ali Sethi. Gave me goosebumps on some parts. We cannot ignore the good singing, great instrumentals & amazing effort by Coke Studio due to our possessiveness for the classics.
I think it is our association with the old classics, that we do not want anything to remotely take its place. What we should consider is that today's renditions become tomorrow's favourites. Having a liking for a rendition doesn't mean discrediting the original master piece. It's more like listening to a respectful tribute being paid to the original, & can be equally cherished.

This is my first time that I listened to any song from Pakistan, I am from India where I used to listen Rafi sahab , Kishore sahab but this time I got this masterpiece. This man has SO MUCH talent and pathos in his voice that he can make us all weep even if he sings a happy song. The signature low key instrument arrangement is typical Jaffer Zaidi.. Now back to this, I wish strings produced this better. The sound is still cluttered and lacks the effortless crispness of Rohail Hyatt and his times. Ali sethi validates all hopeless romantics like me. It is so good to hear this man singing. Not that I don't want him to sing original stuff but I feel Ali sethi should sing all the classics of all generations. all of them. A legend in the making, a killer to the core, music and his velvet voice with 'alaaps' to die for, being his weapons of choice. Ali Sethi, I love you. You hear me? I LOVE YOU!
