- We present a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera Lusso - Anyone who has ever heard of the De Tomaso Pantera probably knows a thing or two about cars. Since the Pantera didn't receive the superficial enthusiasm like the Lamborghini Countach or the Ferrari Daytona, the Italian-designed, Ford-powered exotic flew under the radar of almost everyone in the early 1970s. Even today, it takes a special enthusiast to know anything beyond the name De Tomaso.
In 1972, De Tomaso added the Pantera L alongside the standard Pantera. The Pantera "Lusso" served as a more refined version of the Pantera chassis. The new model addressed many of the issues that early customers complained about. The most significant changes to the 1972 Pantera were made in the form of engine modifications. The 351C 4V engine was replaced by a 280 horsepower engine, the Cobra Jet, which had a true compression ratio of 8.6:1.
Vehicle History:
This De Tomaso Pantera was acquired by us in 2015 in America and imported to Germany. Its previous owner, Mark Pinson from Texas, owned the vehicle from 2006 to 2015. When the Pantera arrived in Germany, various repairs were carried out, including the renewal of the ignition cables, engine gaskets, complete brake system, and steering gear (invoices available). Additionally, the headlights and taillights were converted to E-code standards. In 2016, the Pantera received German registration with historic vehicle ("H") plates.
