One of the best songwriters over the past 25 years gives us another nugget of insight.
This guy is an interesting cat. And I mean that in a positive way. What an inspiration for anyone to beat addiction. It takes courage. I would love to hang out with him. I’m thrillled that my daughter introduced me to Wilco through California Stars. She knew I was a fan of Blue Rodeo so she knew I would love Wilco. She was spot on

Souled American, Great choice! Beloved band of mine. I'm blessed to have known them and been a fan of the band.
I'm not one for RUclips comments usually, but indeed: Souled American is one of the utterly great forgotten bands.
How I miss Souled American! I saw them once with Shrimp Boat in Chicago at what was then Cabaret Metro (now The Metro). Sam Prekop was thumbing through vinyl at the record store next door before the show. I had Souled American albums that I loved and almost wore down to smoothness and convinced some friends to come check them out. Shambolic was a good word to describe them - lots of time tuning up, starting a song and then stopping and restarting, but they were wonderful and I regret not seeing them more. I think they played at Phylis's Music Inn a lot but I never got out to see them there. I hope they release more songs. I did hear at one point they had some songs for a planned album but it has not come to fruition so far. We'll keep the candle burning for Souled American, as long as it takes. "I always heard, it went like this........"

Some of the best songs I’ve heard came off Wilco’s Star Wars. Turned my 15 year old son on to Wilco who is getting into the experience of vinyl classics.

Actually I believe what Jeff has is a lack of a haircut, don't get me wrong it suits him, but I believe almost by definition what he has is the lack of a haircut, or lack of a hairstyle

This is a band I always felt I was supposed to like, friends whose aesthetic whom I admired liked them, they dabble in the genre I like, they are smart guys. But they bore me the bejesus outta me.
Have you tried Yankee Hotel Foxtrot? It might not be exciting in a fast-paced tempo, break-neck drum groove way, but is lyrically and tonally brilliant. Melancholy is a primary theme in Wilco’s music, which is great, but maybe could be boring for those who don’t resonate with that feeling-tone.

I'm not being judmental, as this guy needs to be around for as long as possible making music. But he really looks like he's letting himself go. Medications causing the weight gain? Drinking too much? I don't know, but he doesn't look like the peak of healthy living. You can get away with it in your 30s, not in your 50s.
I wish him the best and know his fans want to see him keep on making music, I just can't help but look at him and think he's not taking good care of himself or his body.
Jeff Tweedy has been sober for almost 20 years. He doesn't drink or do anything else. The guy just likes to eat. He could probably lose some weight, but that's about it. He had a painkiller addiction for years - and most opioid addicts, after stopping, tend to gain weight.
I listened to that song. It's boring AF.
