  • This is the long awaited update about the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k that I found in the skip. Sorry it's been so long. Regular full time work and Royal Mail strikes means everything takes longer.
Hope you enjoy the video, I certainly enjoyed making this one.
    Found the video helpful?
Say thanks with a small tip.

If you had one of these as a kid, what are your most remembered games?

Have you performed the composite mod on it? It's on my list of things to do with this one.

Regarding improvements, a cheap & quick one is the Composite Video mod. Just requires snipping 2 connections to the RF modulator and adding a 100uf capacitor, giving a much better picture than RF.

The composite mod is something I want to do. There's a transistor version with a couple of resistors too isn't there. I'm not sure which one is the best. Audio out would be awesome too.

@@PhilipBryden Yeah, I think the resistors mod improves the brightness output. Personally I just turn up the brightness on the TV haha.

GadgetUK reommended I don't pass the signal straight through, amplify it, and... "Just get one of the 2600 composite mod boards (single transistor, 2k2 and 3k3 resistor. Or wire your own." So yeah, I assume he's talking about making it brighter. Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't sure what it meant. I have a pack of transistors, I can try this on a piece of circuit board DIY style.

Yeah I loved mine too. I'm on the lookout for a C64c next to continue my childhood computer experience. Following that an Amiga 1200 to finish it off.

@PhilipBryden Funnily enough, I got a C64c just a few yrs ago as I used to play 64 games at my cousins back in the day, good luck dude 👍🏻
