I know dude, I went to a festival with Modest Mouse in Portland around 2015 and the crowd was so hyped on the new stuff and me and my buddy were in amazement that the crowd knew almost none of the pre 2000s songs. It was kinda disappointing.

@@FreeMatter4TheBlind I love this band with all my heart, new and old, and will always be happy to see them live, but I'm sad that I was just a wee lad in their hay day, not just because they played some of the best stuff they may never play again, but also that they played with such intensity and vigor you only get from musicians in their prime. Not to mention the best chemistry of the band was always with Isaac, Jeremiah and Eric. All I do is watch bootlegs of this band and I can tell.

this has to be the earliest version of Stars Are Projectors I've heard. This is incredible! Any idea on the date and venue of this show?

This song got removed from its main file. I believe it was early December 1998, somewhere on the west coast. I'll look at it.

The first song I ever heard of theirs was Dramamine. I downloaded it off WinMX back in the P2P file sharing days.
I’ve been a fan ever since.
Of course I love their older stuff more, like everyone else. TLCW and TMAA
are both brilliant albums and there’ll never be anything else like them except for maybe sone Porcupine Tree albums I’ve been listening to lately.
I have to say though that I’m still a fan and some of their newer stuff has grown on me. (Bukowski for example is one)
I’m not mad at them for “selling out” as a lot of fans are. As a song writer myself, I still have max respect for them and everything Isaac does.
Just wanted to mention that and spread some love cause I can feel the animosity towards their newer stuff in reading most of these comments.
Idk man.. I guess I’m just trying to say that even though their older stuff is rare gems.. I feel like their newer stuff is still gold.
When I saw this version was over 17 mins long, I had to check it out. Very raw and wonderful as someone else mentioned.
I’ve been listening the entire time I’ve been typing this and absolutely love it.
Thanks for the upload, Mike! Great job!

@@hybridstuckbetween2605 It's crazy, because I remember the animosity when they did that Honda commercial in the early aughts. It WAS unusual at the time to have an indie band all of a sudden used in a mainstream TV car commercial, but now it's one of the most common things (I blame the TV show SCRUBS/Zach Braff for really milking the indie music scene commercially).

I'm more mad about fucking up this band then all the others combined, why? Because they were that good. As reference, panther attack and a lot of non northwest bands that I thought were cool didn't like Modest Mouse. Where in my reality, Modest Mouse, more than any band is responsible for me discovering good music.
