At the time, this was the latest start time ever to an MLB playoff game (10PM Eastern, 7PM Pacific) because of a presidential debate that aired from 8PM-10PM Eastern. And then, as luck would have it, because of a rainout screwing up the schedule, Game 5 would be the last MLB playoff game to date to start at noon Eastern, 9AM Pacific.

Shows how far we’ve come with ballpark lighting. It seems awfully dark there even for just after 7 PM start time.

This was a late night start due to Vice Presidential debate in the 1988 presidential campaign. That debate had one of the greatest put downs ever in a political debate by Lloyd Bentsen toward Dan Quayle.

Your no John Kennedy was one of the funnier lines from Bensten to Quayle.

Watching some of these old games makes it crystal clear that the umpiring has always been bad when it comes to balls and strikes. That walk to Hatcher in the 1st inning, good Lord. The pitch was above the knees, if anything. Nowhere near a ball. I say this as a Dodger fan.

Entiende que aunque con errores son humanos los árbitros y se equivocan, eso no quiere decir que se prescinda de ellos pues como sería el juego sin un juez imparcial o llámese árbitro 😮

When a weak hitting Dodgers lineup spanked a strong pitcher in David Cone in 2 innings because he talked trash after a disaster for the Dodgers in the 9th inning of game 1.

I was a 5th grade mets fan in california, who adored gary carter. we used to play kick ball at recess, and my friends and i would play out these games during the school day. i was devastated that the mets didn't win this series, because they were such a stacked team. i don't really to this day understand what went wrong that year. the team imploded after this. Carter went to the Giants, Darryl's decline is well known, but it just was such a sad ending for such a great team.

Yes! Like My Father 👨🏻Used To Say "Don't Piss On An Electric ⚡ Fence!"
Thankfully , In Later Years , David Cone Would Win 🏟️⚾🏆 The World Series With The Toronto Blue Jays In 1992 , And 4 Times With The New York Yankees In 1996 🏆, 1998 🏆, 1999 🏆, And 2000 🏆.

David Cone , Could Not Keep His Opinion To Himself.
I Remember 🤔 What My Father 👨🏻 Said. , "Don't Pee On An Electric ⚡ Fence!"
Thankfully For David Cone , He Would Get Traded To The Toronto Blue Jays And Win 🏟️⚾🏆 The World Series In 1992.
And Would Win Another 4 World Series Titles With The New York Yankees In 1996 🏆, 1998 🏆, 1999 🏆, And 2000🏆.
So I 🤔 Figured That David Cone Did Pretty Good , After All.

Bonehead, doubled off second to ruin rally in 1st. Jefferies too small, too slow, no power and no glove.

You are wrong again, Tim McCarver. Jim Palmer is right. Kirk Gibson WAS safe at 3rd on the groundball. Video proves it and your view proves you really are against Gibson.

  • @joyis9638
    @joyis9638 Месяц назад

Shut up, Tim McCarver, about always calling Kirk Gibson's bunting for a single as a BAD BASEBALL PLAY. If you are still alive, McCarver, did you ever get into your big fat head that once Gibson is on 1st base, he typically then steals 2nd base--in effect hitting a double by bunting and then stealing. Also, the threat of the bunt moves the infielders in and thus increasing the chances for a hit when swinging away. Just because YOU--Tim McCarver--were slow and could not have thrown Gibson out--does not make Gibson's bunting anything BUT a good play.
Is this all about the Tigers kicking your Cardinals butts in 1968?! Must be!

  • @clintscroggs65

So the Dodgers didn't really care about the playoffs until a pitcher made accurate comments about them? You would think they wouldn't need any extra incentive going into the post season.
